  1. I believe so, but you can look up on toyotamarket.ru to confirm. Stop messing with Castrol Gear oils. I'm going to just say it. Castrol oils suck ass and you need to use penrite, or something better than castrol. Ive never been able to find a good castrol lube, at any price point.
  2. From memory its gvm x 4 for NA, or gvm x 2.5 for turbo. If your gvm is 950 like most ke70, then you can have up to a 3.8 litre NA, or a 2375cc turbo build. What I like about my 2azfe conversion is the fact it comes in 7ccs or so under the turbo limit and its capable of 550hp and 500ft lbs if its set up like the hasselgren motors they make for taka aono. However I have no current plans to boost it. I could be wrong they change it all the time, and its always best to read it for yourself.
  3. The Map sensor will connect to the bung on the side of it.
  4. Yes exactly. You need to check for bubbles in the coolant. Has it had proper antifreeze and demin water or has it just had crusty old tap water in it?
  5. Thats great mate. Welcome to the world of rollaclub. Those are some rare bird these days in Australia, I assume in the US they are just as scarce. Cool its got a motor swap too. :clover:
  6. How is it to work on compared to the ke? I assume its a lot more compact around the engine, it certainly looks it. I'm imagining all the transverse front wheel drive motor/tranny combos that could be shoehorned in, space permitting. 5sfe, 3sge red beams, 2azfe, 2arfe, hell even a blacktop 4a with a 6 speed would be off chops too. Then again, its a tidy car best not to molest it... yet. :scarymovie:
  7. Yes and in general any cam that presents as lumpy at idle will want to idle a little higher than a stock cam that provides plenty of vacuum and a smooth idle character.
  8. Its exciting when you realise you have all the bits to finish something. I must have felt that a million times building the 86 and it never gets old.
  9. Great post
  10. So Medicine man came by as advertised. He wired up the gauges I added, and presented me with my idle manifold to set up. I drilled and tapped the bottle and used a fuel pump bracket to mount it on the engine mount. I mounted the idle controller right next to it. Looks tidy. We tested the lights, and switched around a few pins and added some wire to make it all as it should be. I fitted the door trims up 100% and added the wire for the interior lighting. Ill be using an led light. Justin carries this awesome array of led bulbs which he has swapped into my dash, and my front parkers. Looks trick. Thanks heaps mate. Your work is impeccable. :clover: ;)
  11. Thats a cheesy looking HG. Lying pricks.
  12. Arvo? I'm working over at indooroopilly till about lunchtime.
  13. Round two of the quarter glass foam game was much more fun. The 5mm thick stuff was the go. Thats 100% now with windows and mouldings all fitted, had to make a clip for the top moulding that piggybacked off the original as I was missing one of the exact ones you need, but I got it first go perfect so theres a win. The door handles and glass runs are in, regulators are greased, and of course absolutely any train that can be derailed with this build has well and truly been off the tracks. Mr racecar has saved himself 4.7 grams by removing all the plastic lugs from almost every useful place in the doors. Long story short I can't screw the arm rests on or clip the drivers trim on because he has tossed all the clips that hold them. ʇ~~ɔ needs a bullet. So still not 100 percent on the doors, but they work great and just need the trims tidied up. When I unwrapped the arm rests I was stoked to find the seller had actually included two matching black winders and door bezels for me. Next time I go in, its door trims finished, panhard rod installed, maybe run the wires for the interior light. I need you Justin! (Sends smoke signals...)
  14. In an odd twist of fate I had ordered 2 lots of parts from 2 different countries in the same ebay cart, and they turned up two days early together with the same postie. The yanks and the Japanese are on the same page these days. and of course this means I have what now equates to 100 percent functional doors to assemble. I'm off to fit it up and grease the regulators as I go about it, then fit the door trims and it will look and feel ever more like a drive able car. I found my idea of neoprene foam dint work out great so I have swapped it out for closed cell like the factory stuff. Must remember, toyota knows what they are doing.
  15. Sounds like it needs a radiator, hoses, thermostat and all the rest. Its worth doing when you buy a nigh on 30 year old car. Sweet car btw. Is that original paint?
  16. Sucks mate but its a good way to ascertain whether the other stuff that's supposed to be in the motor is there.
  17. What he said/\/\. Heaters suck to fix. Its just the way it is. Be methodical and you will win.
  18. Cool. Ive been making a tally of a few bits I need. The inside door handles, and their bezels, and the centre console stereo block off or pocket that goes below. Mine had the 2 row stock hifi which has been pulled and it has a hole under the head unit now which I'm sure something can close off. A straight rear bumper would be good too. Thats about it really. I'm passing through tba twice today, once this morning and once tonight on the way home. If I can stop in and see you that would be good, if not, another time.
  19. Looks great but that top cover paint sucks a bit. Just redo and it will look cool once its not missing bits. I love your little rig. :clover:
  20. Put hands on her today. Scraped and melted all the old foam tape off around the 1/4 windows. I found this to be rather unfun. I touched up 2 tiny specs of rust, hit the whole seal surface with epoxy and then moved on to the windows themselves. Melted the sticky stuff off them and I cleaned them up, then neatly fitted a full circumference of the new neoprene seal to the window. Once I go back I can rub back around the windows and paint it out and then install them once and for all until it all comes apart for a full paint in the future sometime. Fitted the centre console. Washed some more areas like the dash and then blew and vacuumed all the dust I could from it. Painted another coat on the panhard rod. Need parts asap. Looking cleaner inside. Put a thin layer of epoxy in this recess.
  21. Do they do the cash for clunkers thing there?
  22. How much longer is this going to go on before you tell us what the car is?
  23. Chris Harris has a great credible youtube motoring channel. He actually buys the cars he tests. He is a lot more personally into it than Clarkson ever was, he's spending his own money of Ferraris and the like to own and test for months at a time. That said, the BBC has played itself into a corner now. Its the same as when an nrl player gets into a bar fight or rapes something. The club has to punish him, maybe sack him. So club sacks superstar talent to prove a point, only to see his star shine on for another team. The only real loser is the network/club/employer as the talent will just move on regardless and pay no real penalty. It wouldn't be a problem if he was employed by murdoch, packer, cuban, whoever these tv moguls are, but the BBC has to be seen to be proper.
  24. Ac in the Celica is great. I realised its been a bit warmer but noticed the trend was upwards when not moving so just simply realised it has blown the fan fuse. Its a mother of a fan its in need of a 25 amp fuse. When I put it together I had a 15 amp fuse which instantly went pop as it switched on, so I fitted a 20 amp fuse, and that's lasted a week or two. I just didn't have any specs on the massive fan when I put it in, but ʞ©$ɟ it moves some air. 25 Amps for the win. On the swaybar question, I just fitted the stock one for now. Its going to have a minimal effect judging by the crumbling bushings, so I guess that's what I've decided to test first because I always liked stock or no swaybar better than having an oversize one, unless you just want to do skids. There are so many things I am curiuos about now. I might go in today, pull off the 1/4 windows and refoam under them, and fit it all back together with an actual seal there. I got some fatter 12 wide x 9.5 tall neoprene foam instead of the factory closed cell foam. It should provide an enhanced seal, and it was under half the price of genuine foam. Itching for my new door handles and my new glass runs to come so I can finally finish off the interior. I need to find a sound deadening product that I can line the floor with that is as good as the factory tar or better if possible. Its going to get really hot under the passengers feet otherwise and be so loud with a raspy vvti motor to listen to. I just pray the diff and gearbox are silent too. My last rolla had a small whine at one speed in the diff and I found it pretty annoying. I'm going to ring Justin soon and see when I can get him back. There are a couple of oil pressure senders, idle controller, some missing bulbs, a purge solenoid and a couple of gauges to do to finish off the wiring. I've been keeping the battery topped right up for you mate. :y:
