  2. hhhhhhhmmmmmmmm, simple, any auto parts outlet, even supercheap sell them!
  3. I might as well put my 2 cents worth in, Thanks guys for getting this site up and running again!!!!!!
  4. Hey there mate, ive had this problem a few times before, if its got the simitomo (is that how you spell it?) brake callipers on the front, yes it will hit, you need to track down a pair of ke55 or 70 girlock callipers, as the girlock callipers don't have that arseoff of a "fin" hanging off the side of them, cheers, phatke30!
  5. You didnt did you? how bad was the hit? i bet you and everyone that helped get the car on the road were fuming?
  6. good to hear your getting better mate, you didnt have it for as long as some of us have had, a person once told me that there is one and only cure for everything.............sex! it is sooo true! lol! cheers, phatke30!
  7. mmmmmmmm, id be definatly putting that carby gasket in first! what gasket is it exactly? any thing missing a gasket to do with the carby=vaccum leak, you checked the points and checked to see if there is spark? ps. 1974+ke55=no match.
  8. Definatly let us all know, $300 is alot cheaper than what i spent! oh the belt was $50, sorry to the mods and admin for being technical, i know this forum is a non-technical and discussion only! cheers, phatke30!
  9. Hey there mate, the only thing was with applying the gilmour drives was that i went the expensive way of it, i shopped around and i couldn't find any place that would sell the pully's individually! so off i went to the wreckers with a tape measure and found the model engines which had the similar pully off-set to the mighty 3k! lol! in the end i bought two sets of gilmour pully's, one set was to suit a holden 202 red motor, and the other set was to suit a g161 motor (holden gemini). also in those sets i bought both gilmour belts. both sets cost me just under $1000 including the two belts. So, off home i went and proceeded to apply! i used the holden 202 water pump pully for the 3k water pump, used the g161 altenator pully for the altenator (nippendenso), i had to lathe up a 2-3mm spacer to slide over the altenator shaft to get the pully off-set i was looking for.........another breath..........., had to also use loctite on the tread as i only had 60% of the origonal length, and finally the crank pully, i used the g161 crank pully, i had to machine the inside diametre hole of the pully about 1mm so it could sit flush on the standard 3k crank pully, also i had to tap 4 new threads on the standard 3k pully so i could bolt the gilmour pully to it, i drilled the 4 new holes 90 degrees to the origonal 3k pattern as the two pully patterns were different to each other, i had to use allen key headed bolts to join the two together, as there is no room for a normal bolt head! hope this helps, just let me know if ive missed something, or your stuck in understanding, and oops, almost forgot, i used the holden 202 belt, perfect length, and yes it does whistle its arse off, cheers, phatke30!
  10. hey there mate, you must be talking that you seen azza in the red rolla, ive never been to hooters! :y:
  11. ^^^^^^^Obviously this is what your after?
  12. hey there mate,( I'm sure a lot of us here have done it many of times ), just use the ke55 manual cross member and manual gearbox mount, you can't use the late ke30 automatic mount and crossmember, they are two different setups, only the early a20 ( 2 speed auto ) mount and crossmember are the same as the manuals, if its not lining up with the thread holes of the underside of the gearbox tunnel, you must have bolted the crossmember to the mount 180 degrees the wrong way, as the manual gearbox cross member is slightly "boomerang" shaped so to speak, the manual crossmember wont bolt up to where the auto one was, although the holes and threads will be there, hope this helps! cheers, phatke30!
  13. ^^^^^^^what he said, its easier to buy a new complete unit, just keep the old one tucked away in the shed!
  14. Sorry guys but I'm going to have to agree with redwarf on this one, i too have a rolla with twin 45mm webers, the only money i have ever spent on these carbs was "the initial rebuild and tune"!it cost a lot of money first up, but sooooo worth it. i have never ever had a problem since, never had to get them re-tuned, never a problem on cold starts, the thing gets revd to 8 thousand revs every time i drive it! Yet still not a prob with the carbs!
  15. Were those photo's taken at west end by any chance?
  16. ^^^^^^its good when you know the right people, saves a shiteload of money! And effective on the car as well!
  17. well i may as well add another one for today :lolcry: , spotted last night on morayfield rd a mustard ke30 4 door, nice origonal paint with a set of (speedy sirocco) shiny mags, looked the part!
  18. Sounds like i was the culprit, by any chance did your red rolla have a set of chromies and what looked like to have a stainless exhaust azza?
  19. Hey there AE25! thanks mate for the part number, its much appreciated! ive finally got it sorted, most of the problem was with the top adjustable chain tensioner (drivers side of engine), when they had reconditioned the engine, they put another tensioner out of some other engine, i couldnt tell you what it came out of, and with the new tensioner,A: the adjusting bolt wasnt long enough, and B: it wasnt getting enough oil pressue running through the tensioner to take the slack of the chain when the engine was fired up! but the part number will definatly come in handy as i may have to buy one in the future. I also have checked under the rocker cover, it hasnt been hitting the underside of it, and yes it does have a rubber gasket. Cheers phatke30!
  20. Not a bad buy for $100, ive bought alot worse for that price. Motor shouldnt be too bad if you can still turn the engine, maybe it just had a simple fuel leak and by the sounds of the previous owner he couldnt have been bothered to fix it? lol!
