Click Its for an RX7, but I would assume the basic's would be found in there somewhere.

I'm running Media Player 11. Why don't you upgrade that that? I see no issues with it. I'm pretty sure you can change the skins too. Switching to 'Classic Style Menus' is also an option.

Grab the Yellowpages and look up some panel shops in your local area. Drop in or give them a call. They are the best ones to speak to as no Melbournians have suggested any places that definately do cheap resprays.

Do a search. There are many threads that have covered this topic already.

If you have a hose running to the front of the car acting as a cold air intake, get rid of it. Its just one less thing they can pick on. If your car looks stock, they will be less inclined to start looking over it more thoroughly. You would probably get away with the air filter pipe being chopped down, as long as its not sharp and doesnt look out of place. Definately hook the pollution gear back up. Its also very illegal to modify your car (to the point where it is unroadworthy) within a certain time period after getting your car roadworthied. I think its about 30 days here in VIC. Its still very much illegal to have an unroadworthy car, but outside of the time period you are less likely to be fined. For Example: I get my car roadworthied and registered. Then i head home and put in some chopped springs, and rip the pollution gear off. If I were to get pulled over within (30 days?) and the police were switched on, not only could they defect the car, but they could fine me for obvious reasons. I guess its there to stop hoons getting defected at the street drags etc and then making their car roadworthy for an inspection. Only to drive away after the inspection, and return their car to the previous spec. It would give Roadworthy Testers a bad name to see a roadworthy car drive out of the workshop only to see it cruise past the next day with a loud exhaust and sitting on its belly with the roadworthy papers in the glovebox. I went a little off topic, but its just something to have a think about before you start modifying your car with unapproved mods.

Guess you'll have to keep doing what your doing, and put your hand out every fortnight for the dole payment. :D The doctor gave orders not to work? Normally they are the first ones to say "Go back to work and see me if any problems arise". Hope all goes well anyway.

You could always refer to Redbook for the average Private Sale price. Most corollas in that era including my 1974 KE30 have a market value of $1600. Thats really all you need to worry about if your buying.

I'm sure it would all be worth it when your sitting in your jail cell of a night, pondering the consequences of your actions.

Wouldnt you just plug the standard/existing wire onto your new alternator. don't ask me which of the 2 terminals it should go onto. But couldnt you try one with the engine running and use a multimeter to test if the battery is charging. If its not, swap the wire over to the the second terminal on the alternator. If neither works, then i guess it requires a more knowledgable person. I know when i swapped from a Denso Alternator to Bosch item, I simply unplugged the loom from the external regulator and looped 2 terminals on the plug. Then I used a test light on the push on style plug that goes to the alternator. The one that lights up, is the one that you want to plug onto your alternator. That required crimping a spade terminal onto some wire and a female crimped fitting on the other end that plugs onto the alternator. Then I ran a thicker gauge wire (with an inline fuse) from the positive terminal on the battery, to the bolt on the alternator. I should add that my Bosch alternator was rebuilt to 70amps. It was also internal regulator, compared to external (which my car was running with the denso alternator). The auto elec also mentioned that the corolla's wiring was only rated to 72amps max, hence why he didnt rebuild mine to 80amps as suggested in the FAQ.

I'm now in two minds whether i'm going or not. Unfortunately Rolla_Boy is only attending on Saturday and is taking his girlfriend, so i guess i'd feel like the third wheel. I was planning to make the trip and attend at least 2 days and maybe do the tourist thing for a few days. Of course i would hope to meet all of you guys/gals etc. How many of us are actually going and on what days? I've read the ACT section, but not alot seems to be happening in the Nats topic lately.

Is Vince still running that place? I have bought a few exhaust systems from them in the past, but not within the last 4 years. Top bunch of blokes used to work there. If your out near Flemington, GT Suspensions are one of the distributors for Lovells springs. Last check they were selling pairs of superlows for $150 the pair. If Dandy exhausts can supply and fit all 4 corners for $380, then thats your best option.

Maybe one of the Earths in the engine bay is a bit dodgy. Check and clean them.

Cheers Mate. I will look into that tommorrow. I'm not really a camping person anymore (scouting days are long gone), so the Motel option is better. As long as the motel is clean. I have stayed in some absolute shockers when travelling with work.

I have been toying with the idea of making the drive up to Canberra. Just have to pull my finger out and sort out some sort of accomodation. I will hit Geoff up for some ideas on that anyway.

Got my car back this week from being tuned. Mammi Motors are highly recommended by me. Top bunch of blokes :) They reckon their dyno is very harsh (it generally doesnt read as high as other dyno shops). So maybe that will explain why i drove away with only 62rwKw with twins bolted on, compared to 56rwKw when i had a single 32/36 weber. He gave some good insight as to how i could get more power out of the 5K. The cam tops out at 6200rpm. He also put me onto Iskenderian Valve Springs to solve the issues i have had in the past.

There is a topic Pinned in the VIC section with all the MSN addresses of the people who wish to chat online. Here it is. MSN

Welcome to the club Mate. First of all, can you please add your location to your profile. Just helps us to gauge where members are from etc. So we can suggest wreckers or other members in your area. Peter Robinson Automotive 17 Carinish Road Oakleigh South 9544 1162 He normally has a stockpile of parts for all makes and models of older Corollas. How did you find Rollaclub? don't forget to use the Search feature and the FAQ. Have a read of the threads that are of interest to you before starting new topics. You can email the pics to me and i'll post them up for you. Alternatively, you could start a thread in the Rides and Projects section. Add your pics there, or i'll do it for you if you like. kangaroosa at optusnet dot com dot au

Great Ocean Rd Cruise 27-28th Jan '07 Aus Day Weekend

Or maybe even a Kayak. ;) Doubt i will be able to make this event guys. Hope to see a heap of pics though! -
I agree. This is my head and it seems to work very well. The ports are pretty much straight, as you can see. The ports are still roughened up to aid in atomisation.

My 5K with glazed bores and single carby pulled 56rwKw. I have only ever broken 1 x K50 in 8 years of owning a corolla. That one g/box lasted 6 years with me before 2nd gear let fly. My 5K has since had a full rebuild and a pair of 40DHLA's put on it. Still no issues with the driveline breaking. I believe the life of your gearboxes is relative to how you drive, and how rough you are. That being said, I have 3 spare K50's down the back just in case. :P I'm keen to see a Dyno figure on the car in question though. I'm a bit skeptical of the figure myself.

The beauty of SU's is that the needles are replaceable. You can basically order a needle to suit your application based on dyno readouts. So you can tune in more fuel or less fuel depending on the taper of the needle. So to answer will it supply enough fuel.....Probably, if you have it tuned right. I know Rolla_Boy was running a single Stromberg carb on his 5k. That engine was supercharged. I used to have Twin 1.5" SU on my 5K before i upgraded to 40DHLA's. This is how they look N/A.
-
46mm would be a 1.75" / HS6 SU. I have sold a few pairs of these lately. They are very common among 6 Cylinder Triumphs. Wreckers will normally sell them for about $30-$35 each. They will also fetch at least $150/pair on ebay to the lovely people in England and the USA. :)

I used to run Ram Tubes on my SU's. I purchased them from Hardiman Auto Parts in NSW. They also have Redline foam socks available too. Alternatively, my local MG Workshop sells locally made ones. You could always try businesses like that.

Most people with Redline manifolds, including myself have had the same drama's with them. The manifold needs to be cut/shaped to clear the extractor mounting plate. I also found that the locating holes were too small and didnt clear the dowel pins in the head. So the holes had to be drilled out to a larger diameter. I also had the face of the manifold machined down to the same thickness as my extractor mounting plate. I had to do that because the bolt was actually tightening up on the manifold but not even contacting the extractor mounting plate. I didnt have dramas with the holes being drilled on an angle though.
