I was going to say, those skids don't freak me out too much. (didnt realise the pics were gone) Whats the speed limit there? What car?

You know how you want your car painted? I'm now more than happy to come and pick it up. :D

:y: The weather is looking good for Saturday. Mid 20's last time i saw the weather report. Should we remind people to bring their deck chairs and picnic mats, or is there a Gazebo that we can use?

You sound like a mate of mine. He ripped the gas tank out of his EB Fairmont 5ltr, to make it lighter and faster. Now its costs him twice as much to run on petrol. wtf?? Seriously - How much weight do you think is in carpet? A few kilo's maybe. A stereo another few kilo's. Both of these things make everyday driving so much more enjoyable. You going to be getting around listening to your engine and road noise full time!! Where does it get you? You can still only do the speed limit. I'm not having a crack at you here. It just seems a bit backwards to me.

I bought a brand new alternator for my KE30, for about $130-150. Just lash out and do it. Or it will cost you almost double that when you have to buy a new battery too.

I know its Illegal to have Checkerplate flooring in the drivers foot well. Not sure about no carpet all all though. Have you dropped into Vicroads, or given them a call? Why are you planning on removing the carpet for an everyday car?

There is a few different style alternators. Denso and Bosch I think. Each have different style plugs. I wanted to change mine, but my 3 spares all had different plugs to each other..........and none of them was the one i needed. Thats just something to check first.

I just use whatever my spare parts bloke has on the shelf. Its normally blue. I have used Ryco in the past. I'm not that fussed to be honest. Just had a quick look. I currently have and AC Delco filter.

You generally don't spray Clear coat over solid colours. You can use clear to protect your paint. If you do use clear. Make sure its the top shelf stuff as the cheaper clears tend to mist up and turn yellow over the years. The only time you normally use a clear coat, is when you have a metallic base coat or candy etc. Getting acrylic to shine is easy. Use good quality paint, and if its acrylic.........make sure you use Acrylic thinners. For the last 2 coats, thin your mix right down with thinners. Hit the whole car with 2 "wet" coats and the jobs done.

No cruises planned for the near future. Only a few VIC members have road registered Corollas at the moment. Everyones a bit busy with holidays at the moment also. The BBQ is the next gathering. A cruise may be planned for a later date. This may be discussed at the BBQ to ascertain what the interest levels are.

I have been spending some time on a Datsun forum lately. One thing that i have noticed is how clear and legible their classifieds are. They have pinned a topic that contains a "template" for making your ad. If the template is not used, then the ad can/will be deleted by the mods. It just makes it so much easier to read the add. It also helps the seller to list all the info, without forgetting things like a location. I realise Rollaclub already has guidelines, but lately the classifieds seem to look like 25 word sentences without any punctuation. So here is their template: The raw template obviously just has the titles between the tags. So its fool proof. Its just an idea. I guess its really something for the Mods to think about.

The following link is to another thread that contains video footage i took of this event. It took me a while, but i got there. I thought i would add this link here incase people missed it in the off topic section. Click

Live For Speed = Top Game  I was going to buy the LFS2 license to unlock all the cars and tracks, but havent been bothered yet. Nascar Racing 2002 (Sierra, Papyrus make it). Its only got 2 road tracks and the rest are oval. The car physics are great. The tuneability is extensive, and very responsive in the gameplay. Need For Speed Porsche Unleashed = Bloody Brilliant. :D The best and only worthwhile Need for Speed game. Make sure you invest in a Good Quality force feedback steering wheel, if you havent already done so.

Sorry about going OT. I believe 1.5" SU's would be the perfect size. Blokes with 1600cc Datsuns run these carbies. Twin 1.75" SU's were used on cars like a Triumph 2.5L. 1.25" SU's work well on Minis (1100cc?) Jamie - Do you know what needles you had in your SU's? From memory i have No.8's, which the 1.8L MGB's used. They work great on mine. My 5K would go to 8000rpm with no worries at all. It even went further when my throttle jammed. Although i now have a dodgy fuel pump that can't keep up the supply. By the time i get to 5500rpm, the car noses over after its drain the fuel bowls. I suppose you get that when your pump barely puts out 1psi. Buts thats a whole other story.

Did somebody say Twin SU's? If you decide to go down the Twin SU path, drop me a line and i'll hook you up with all the part numbers that you will need. This is a pic that i photoshopped for SlothSNR, when he approached me for some help. It just details certain items that you will need. In all honesty, you can do a complete Twin SU setup for well under $1000. Check out Datnet for twin SU's. They always have them for sale on there. Most of them have come off 1600 motors, so at least they are in the ball park in regards to needle sizes.

Just letting others know, that I have replied to this in a PM. Tiger is in the process of pimping his KE55.

My droopy was basically free. I had a new muffler fitted on the rear. The bloke just cut a bit of 3" pipe, put a bend in it and welded it onto the muffler. I personally like black tips like jamies and myself. Chrome can still look good though.

He's got a standard 5K running twin Aisans. The diff i believe is a locked Jap diff. I think its also got a standard 4 speed box. Colin is currently away on holidays. I have PM'd him the link to this topic, so he will be sure to see it when he returns.

Replacement Brake Master Cylinders
kangaroosa replied to kangaroosa's topic in Automotive Discussion
Thanks Jamie. So worst case would mean just using a new replacement KE30 master cylinder if mine is cactus. I appreciate the ability not to lock the brakes is a good thing, but it just feels as if there is not as much grab in the brakes. I jumped on them a few times, and they just didnt really show signs of wanting to really grab and lock up. The car does brake alright though. I actually installed my Lovells super low springs whilst i was at it. They could also be affecting the feel of my braking, as these springs are alot softer than the ones i had previously. Let me say - Lovells idea of "super low" is my idea of 4x4. I had the calipers rebuilt (didnt need pistons apparently), so its safe to assume the problem isnt within the calipers. I'm using Bendix General CT pads with the Titanium strip. I was told they are not metallic and wont kill my new rotors, so they got plucked off the shelf. They are rear VN Commodore pads and didnt need shaving to make them fit. They just slid over the new rotors with about 2mm to spare. I guess i'll wait till the experts have a play with it and take it from there. Thanks to Rolla Boy too. -
My research tells me that: GA Galant Master Cylinders can be fitted to a KE10 - KE20 - possibly more. GD Galant Master Cylinder has an even bigger bore. Suzuki Swift into a KE25 - Possibly an RX2 one. (one of Redwarfs comments) Pajero Master Cylider is best suited to Larger Calipers. Basically i want to know if either of the GA or GD Galant master cylinders fit into a KE30 also. I'm not sure whether there is a difference between my car and the earlier models, that would prevent this swap. The bloke at my auto parts shop seems to think it will work (by looking through his catalogues), but i am hoping someone can actually confirm this. Anyone know for sure whether the GD (larger bore) master cylinder will be too much for a KE30 with KE70 calipers. Am I correct in saying that the thread on the Galant master cylinders is the same as the thread on my KE30 brake line fittings? Corolla Kid stated thats its a straight swap for his KE20, so i assume there were no probs with different thread pitches/diameters. I have just finished installing the KE70 Girlock calipers and rotors onto my KE30. The brakes now feel really spongey and don't lock up as easy as my Sumitomo calipers did. I have bled the brakes a few times, but still nothing seems to change. With my original Sumitomo's, the first two applications of the brakes in the morning used to lock the rear wheels without even trying. On every brake application from then on, the brakes were back to normal. In the new year I plan to take it to a brake specialist and have the brake lines flushed and bled again. They can then assess the situation and give their opinion if they havent fixed the problem already. I just want this info sorted, so its on hand if i have to change the master cylinders. I hope i didnt leave anything out. :)

1. They look shite. Cheap and Nasty. 2. Nope. Its full of crap these days. (in my opinion) The retro look just doesnt do it for me. 3. The wheels were never mentioned. Some people just like chrome bumpers still. Theres nothing wrong with that. Normally you would be the first person complaining that "its not old school".

Tiger- Let me know before the BBQ if you want anything from that computer store.
