  1. ah right thers a gasket in ther sumwer that i f@$ked up last time i did an axle change lol
  2. yeah i know it wont do anything to compression with 3k pistons, but ive got some and i heard there stronger so might aswell use them? and the block will be going to a engine recons anyway to get a skim, how much does o ringing cost? I'm thinking il just stick with stock comp tho, in the end its just a 4k. another 40 bucks will get me another one lol
  3. axle oil seal, goes behind those 4 bolts, but usually it should be ok, if its not just repair it with gasket goo
  4. locking the timeing asin blocking off the timeing vacuum advance? and running shitloads of timeing? hmmm, wont a copper gasket be thicker anyway(in theory making it a decomp gasket), and how do you o ring the block whats a better idea, decomp plate and 2 gaskets or cooper gasket with o rings? Or even, how would stock 4k with 3k pistons and new rings and seals cope with boost, say 6 psi, possibly more coz il probs be like f@$k it and crank it up at a much later stage lol
  5. can you get decompresison gaskets for 4k's? if so, who from? cheers -ALex
  6. I'm not sure how thecould be way off, but by spaceing the spring and compressing it more. then wont this make the spring release with less pressure to help it or do they work the other way in which the spring pushes against the pressure, so stiffening the spring would raise the pressure needed to open the gate ah yes it must work that way, much more logical once i think about it.
  7. this happened in my ke30, then when i got it fixed with a fuel cap that had the proper seal, my fuel pump burst its diaphragm because of too much pressure,
  8. the clips on the brake pads look like the ones i replaced on my ra65, so could be 60/65 tho that probs doesnt indicate much
  9. what u mean vented out after 2 laps? shouldnt it vent on deceleration? throttle closed? elaborate i don't get what ya mean lol and yeah i can't wait for the silly grin on my face when i finally have a boosted corolla haha
  10. maxy: the faster the supercharger spins the more boost it will create, theres is not as much of a range as with a turbo, but SC's still produce more boost at higher rpm, i have got a stock ABV, may be able to use that as a wastegate.still have not decided which way to go, may still go suck through, kickn5k: hey mate, i want to run about 5psi, yes i know about the different sized pulleys, I'm still unsure of pulleys sizes to use, but when the throttle is closed on a carby, the pressure is going to buildup and it needs to be vented. thats what my questions are about. so you made 4-4.5 with a stock ac v belt pulley and a sigma aircon pump pulley, could u measure the diameter of the sigma pulley, this could be a way to go for me, asi have a stock aircon cracnk pulley to. I'm still going to get pulleys to have the right boost amount, but yeah i need to vent the boost when the throttle closes or is half closed, else bang goes the carby.
  11. by adding washers does that raise the level it vents at or lower it?
  12. hmm cool, bit different for me because instead of throttle body it goes to the carby and the carby can't be over-pressurised, which is where a blow off valve owuld work, or wastegate, so the boost controller measures the pressure and when it reachs a certain level it sends a vacuum signal to the wastegate to open up, and close when pressure dies down?
  13. so would a blow thorugh setup useing a wastegate to release buildup of pressure when the throttle is off, and to limit boost work?
  14. check timeing and points gap,
  15. Ok I'm trying to work out how to setup an sc12 on my 4k, Blow through setup, useing something like a weber carby, but the questions are not about fuel setup i have several questions some might be abit confuseing so bear with me 1. Would it be possible to have a switch that will limit the boost level, much like the ecu does on a 4agze, but maybe setup with intake manifold vacuum connected to a relay connected to the clutch of the charger, just the question is there a relay that uses vacuum to tell when something should be switched on/off 2. if the supercharger is disengaged, then how will the carby get airflow, is there a gate or something that can be setup to open to allow air when the clutch is disengaged on the charger, i noticed on the outlet of the charger there is a smaller second outlet attached to the main one. if this could be open and closed when disengaged and engaged respectivly then this would releive pressure at high RPM where boost would be limited by the answer to question 1. cheers Alex.
  16. lol nice, yeah I'm getting it back, was thinking of selling the 5k n dropping a 4k in but i will probly keep the 5k, for a touch k motor project down the track
  17. spotted this yesturday on west terrace was behind u for a little bit in my blue ea falcon wagon lol
  18. yeah, 4k's are everywher tho, 5k bti harder to find 300-400 is pretty good il probs end up keeping it anyway
  19. Hey everyone might be getting back my old ke30 with a 5k from my dad soon and I'm just curious, what are the old 5k motors worth considering this one is bog stock, running well, unsure on km's, but doesnt blow smoke/leak oil/overheat cheers Alex oh and if it makes any difference I'm in SA
  20. cut a coil off of each spring and then if u like that height keep it, n if u want it lower then go from there,
  21. because the cam is in the block?
  22. those things make me lol like taz rx said its going to take some working and some boost to get that kind of figure, if you are willing to change motor and do all the other stuff hydrolic clutch convo and such, it might be easier to go for a 20v 4age or something but boosted k motors are cooler hehe
  23. hey mate the gearbox form the wagon should go striaght onto the 5k however the shifter position will be abit further back so u will have to modify the shifter hole(unless the car with the 5k is a ke70 then it will be 100% fine) also I'm unsure if the tailshaft will go in to the gearbox, you can check that urself just buy removeing the tailshaft and trying to fit it in the end of the new gearbox you can change the gearbox without removeing the engine, get the car as high off the ground as possible to make it easier to work on, and when removeing the old box pull it out onto an old tyre or something. you will need a good 17 for most of the bellhouseing bolts and a 14, and possibly a 12 for the tialshaft
  24. nikki ey what sorts of plates? are nikkis capable of taking high fuel pressure? like up to 12psiish
  25. as reference an ra65 one will also fit
