  4. yeah with my idle i run approximatly 25 btdc i think or it could be closer to 20 but yeh, coz it idles so high its way different coz of the advance mechanism
  5. yeah, how much are new points? its running fine now so i wont yet, and i got a feeler guage :) dizzy cap seams descent
  6. how high is it idleing when its on 30btdc ? if its idleing at like over 1.5k (like mine does) then that wont be acurate and compareable to stock which is 8 just bring it back bit by bit until it doesnt ping anymore, even if its still way over 8, but i guess thats only relevent if u have a high idle? do you? you can turn it down on the carby then check your timeing again, it should be a little less crazy, but yeah, quick fix, retard timeing by ear a little, test, repeat, until it doesnt ping
  7. woudlnt be plugs because i wasnt getting a spark form the coil it was the points gap in the end, was closed shut ... :) i worked it out the next day, adjusted it by eye, then adjusted timeing by ear to suit, running sweet now tho sumtimes when i turn the motor over it turns over slower than befopre, but if i gas it it wil start right up..... don't know what that means, but i don't mind and yeah i did my research and found that the points is what earths the coil to make it spark, i had originaly thoguht it might be points ( back when i didnt relay know what points did) but thought it coudlnt be because thats in the dizzy and coil is before dizzy how wrong i was
  8. those spark plug things, they can crack and leak oil, caused my mates 4k to run on 3 when he had a broken one
  9. i change my timeing by ear, and testing, like turn the dizzy till it sounds like its running quite smooth, and idleing a little high, thne take it for a test drive if it pings (sounds like rocks in ur motor when u accelerate) then retard timeing a little and try again, atm my car pings but only when i load it up heaps, such as useing a high gear up a hill. if u have access to a timeing light then use it u hook it up to lead number one and to the battery, then shine it at the limeing markings and turn the dizzy as iuts idling until the marking lines up where you want it to. cheers for that, i don't know if ill even set it, it seams to be running well just after setting it by eye, oh and i f@$ked around with my mixture abit today, like wound it in then backed it out abit, i stil don't think its set right, i need a screwdriver rather than useing my fingers lol
  10. yeah the reason i turned is because there is a different way up that is abit longer and i felt sketchy trying to overtake u up that road so i took the different route up to norton
  11. was decsent pace through the hills, i quite enjoyed the part i stayed for, but me and my mate had to bail due to his car making wak noises, plus we had an 18th to go to :) but yeah, was good

Ok last 2 nights same thing has happened. last night i drove my car around abit in the day, went to a mates at night, stayed there for a few hours and went to leave at about 2am my car woudlnt start, so i first checked if i was getting spark (by getting the dizzy end of the main lead and holding it close to the body of the car while turning the car over, it was only sparking about once a second, when it should have been doing about 4 a second i got a lift home and went back today at around midday with another coil and a few different leads, tried different lead and coil combinations and still the same thing, then after doing this for a while got my mate to call the RAA, while waiting for them to come, i figured id put the original coil back in, when i did this i checked the spark again and it seamed ok, so i plugged it in and up it started, and was running fine, so we told the RAA not to come. i then drove it around a fair bit today, 150ish k's actually. and after work went to my mates house again, at about 11, and stayed there until just before 1, when i went to go home and once again, the same frikn problem! so got another lift home and here i am now asking you knowledgeable forum members if you know what is going on/ the car in question is a standard 4k ke70, any help would be appreciated -Cheers, alex
  14. quads look v.nice are they actual jdm quads? or out of something else? also i noticed u took the stockheadlihgts out and then the brakets :D, they all come out as one with just 4 bolts at the back hehe lookin good -Alex

  16. that and 15's should be a maximum on a ke70! not just legally but there an 80's car, go with 80's jap styleing 14's even better! with close to 0 offset :D

  20. lol hey its jarrod (with the ae71), in what way did u beat me? we only went up 1 'hills' rd and we were stuck behind traffic and goin slow and i was right behind u the whole way anyway. or are u talkin about the drag where i flogged u by time i was maxed out in 2nd and then backed off and u flew past n kept goin to 100k's or someshit? if u wanna go for a hills run or even a drag to see who's quicker let me know.   21. i think theres one in front of the head but i can't be sure how long is a longer drive? if the thermostat is crapped shut it would heat up very quickly also the radiator would stay cool if it is shut? maybe?
  22. yep, just to make sure, your pulling it from where it goes into the firewall not from wher it goes down to the box. usually there should be small ridges on the part that goes into the fwall, a circlip is placed on these to stop it from going through the firewall anymore i have a cir clip and a hose clamp on mine just in case ill take a pic because ive got nothing else to do, pics: second one shows that i could still adjust my clutch further
  23. umm I'm not sure, but I'm prety sure ive run a 20 and a 22 in my ke30 lol ill see what one ive got spare if its a 22 tooth one i could post it, or if its a 20 one i could put it back into my ke30 n see what its like then post the 22 one from in there what is your location? Edit: or you could just goto the wreckers find a ke30 with a 5 speed and ripped out the speedo drive actualy i was at the wreckers 2day n found a ke30 with a 5 speed, was thinking about getin it coz the engine was out so no work to be done basicaly but i didnt lol
  24. if your gunna get a 2inch system witha single muffler and resonater don't bother with a cannon imo, get a big pipe stickin out the back insted, looks much beter
  25. yep, its funny watching people at u pull it tring to get steering wheels off, whatever you do leave the bolt on until uve got the wheel loose my mate didnt do this n smashed himself in the face with the wheel quite amuzing at the time haha
