Oh my god.. wiping drool off the keyboard.... kinda wish i'd done my car in that colour now!!!
what gun setup do you guys use... psi... brand, tip, clear and % thinners & heat? pm if you like.
well f@$k this shite... car not going... seems the coil has decided to shit itself... sooo off to my local u pull it to get a corolla coil cos
they don't have any starlets there. so fingers crossed tomorrow i'm driving the bitch again.
so while the motor was out.. the front and rear main engine seals were changed. dowells were installed...
neatened up a few things regarding the bell plate. rear g/box seal was replaced also as they were ALL leaking.
also resealed the sump and that was leaking also. hopefully the f@$ker doesn't leak anymore.
ok motor is back in... front end back on... only have to put the ancillaries on.. ie wiring radiator fuel etcetc.
also i have half done the adjustab;e bearing tensioner arm for my dizzy belt. hopefully be driving it again by the wkend.
Cheers bro.
So far i've done sfa to the car. Seriously cbf.
I have however replaced the rear main oil seal installed the dowells and pressed the new throwout bearing on. Bell plate is bolted on and it aint gonna move now. Hoping to have it all together by sunday night. See how i go.
15x8 0 will fit under the rear.. definately not the fronts though... 15x 8 should fit under the front but... will need +ve or -ve offset i'm an unsure.. as i don't have stock struts in my car to compare.
i have fitted a rear swaybar to my 30... and i spend countless hours out in the hills...
i can say from my experience that adding a rear swaybar does increase its tendancy to oversteer... but..... i could definately steer around the corner alot neater and quicker. i found that without a sway bar you had
more of an idea when the car was gonna start oversteering. once the sway bar was fitted it is much harder to tell.. could almost say it 'snaps' now.
i think its worth it to fit on a road car.. i'm actually thinking of getting an upgraded rear bar to make the car sit more level than it does now...
a ke20 i belive would react very similar.
i love sidchrome... also i have used snapon and its is real nice...
i agree with lukeae71 about the sidchrome ratchet.. too clunky but at least its strong... mine is starting to seize but belting it with hammers and using it as a hammer won't help matters.
also i bought a set of kinchrome ratchet spanners and they have put up with some real punishment... was $90 for 7 spanners... once i had a 1 metre bar on the the 12mm. the ratchet end was on the bolt and it didn't give in.. after much straining the bolt came loose and the spanner was fine and is still goin well 4 yrs later... putting up with similar abuse many times.
alot of it comes down to personal preference and affordability.
i don't like TTI i have their small kit... i forget the size (small) anyway the ratchet forever slips... jumps out of position... the extensions and the sockets all feel sloppy.. but... for the money they are ok i guess.
oh btw I AM THE BEST TOOL!!!!! haha
had the same problem in my 30... exactly the same problem.. turns out to be a loose earth in the main loom plug coming off the steering shroud. i know its a 26 but check that everything is earthed.
Ok so motor is out and the bell plate did slip everything seems ok though. So fairly easy fix will def dowel it so it doesn't happen again. There are a couple of ways i can go about it as well. Also my starting problem i believe is the timing belt for my dizzy has stretched quite a bit. So i'll be adding some more bracing and also a proper bearing tensioner. Will also fix my exhaust as it hangs too low and is resting on my diff. Couple more weeks methinks.
if tis getting hot then there must be something touching where it should be.
as in an earth and a power.
if nothing is obvious then disconnect the alt... and then put the battery in perhaps the alt is the problem...
try your mates battery?
as for power to the car there are 2 6mm white wires that some from the +ve side of the battery maybe they are frayed and touching metal?
well you have abviously thought it all though and understand the amount of work involved.. and have the motivation to do it... and money...
so i'm looking forward to seeing the progress pics.
