  1. Hey guys thanks for the replies! I have a KE55.. so the KE70 options don't work. The torago diff i understand will need mods. but i believe the liteace runs the same series diff but with leaf spring mounts? thanks fusion thats good advice. tailshaft is no probs for me since i'm running a t50 gear box my ke55 tail shaft needs modifying anyway! Do you have a number for sleeka spares? they would be in adelaide? i have an ae71 spline to go on and it needs to be shortened so tailshaft doesn't really matter! also i'm not fussed about lsd its a daily driver and i don't plan to be doing burnouts... the only real driving i do are hill runs...
  2. Hey all i'm looking to upgrade my diff cheaply! so i've been looking into a torago diff! as far as i understand they come in 4.11 ratio. are 30mm too wide either side... can fix this with some FWD offset wheels. Has anyone researched this path as well? or even done it?
  3. Have you looked into mx62 cressida struts? much larger brakes than stock... a mate had em on his ke55 coupe and by god could he pull that car up hard! i've got some they aren't in the car yet currently working on them but i believe it only requires minor mods to your ball joints. you have to run 14" min i believe!
  4. ok update!! i've just been collecting parts for now. mx62 cressida struts for a brake upgrade! brand new tie rod ends. new gabriel ultra v shockers all round. new brake pads for the cressy struts. t50 gearbox with bellhousing ae71 donor tailshaft... just want the yolk off it! 4age flywheel return fuel line! bosch fuel pump gas bonnet lifters! extractors should be here soon! ..... found myself a overrated condition crash pad.! not a single blemish warp or crack!! courtesy of toyoland! $45!!!! :rocknroll: brand new rear lisence plate lights new hood bumpers new top of the line clarion head unit! all new front end bushings. Currently painting the cam covers etc on the silvertop green...(same as my car) powder coating the crossmember.. painting struts... currently waiting on my two kits from yager performance.. when that arrives it goes in!!
  5. ok thanks heaps for the info. i have a jap t50 with the corresponding bellhousing. i guess i will dismantle and clean the throttle bodies. rather annoying. only way to learn i guess. Toyoland has sourced me a 200mm flywheel. the clutch to suit i believe is cheaper than getting a 212mm. i'm keeping the motor completely stock so i reckon the 200mm and a h/duty clutch will do the trick! thanks alot!
  6. this happened to my car... i replaced my starter and about two months later it happened again. i ended up fitting a relay on the starter to bypass the ignition coil and this worked a treat! the idea behind this is that as the car electrical system gets old the electrical resistance increases. because of this the ignition coil can't give anough signal or power to get your starter running! the tell tale signs are clicking and no starting.. and when its completely f'd nothing happens! If this is the problem its easy and cheap to fix... check this link. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/faq/inde...a/starter-relay
  7. ok did some more research.. sooo i can't use the FWD starter. can't use my ke55 tailshaft... i have a flywheel sourced but its a 200mm ish diameter. what the deal with the 215mm ones?
  8. Hey did you buy one? i really want to know if i'm still going to have to mod the water pump?
  9. i rang these guys up. they gave me a price of $145 for the RWD cooling kit for the 20v? but they have been waiting for over a month now for the kits to arrive! does anyone else do them? i tried one other joint.. can't remeber the name but got the number of ae86drivingclub and they are waiting as well but their price is $240. oh i got my extractors from these guys! hmmm i want a kit now!! lol it's pretty much the only thing holding up the silvertop going in!
  10. Ok next question... if i get a t50 box will i need a custom bellhousing? i didn't think i would but i just read a wanted to buy thread asking for one. secondly differrences between 16v and 20v flywheel? because i'm trying to source a clutch.. and flywheel. also when i put my motor on the stand it went on upside down. so the remaining oil still captured in the motor went into the rocker and from there into the fual rail and into the throttle bodies.. do i have to dismantle and clean? or will it fire up no probs? aslo it looks like you can't use FWD starter? true or false? any help much appreciated cheers, luc
  11. Nah this was from paradise motors para hills!
  12. Just wanting to make sure guys.. is there any difference in the auto or manual ecu? i just got a 20v and it was auto and i'll be using it rwd as a manual.. will it be ok to use the computer?
  13. And the 20v is here! was automatic... does this mean that to go to manual that i'll need a different computer? engine has only done approx70xxxkm's!
  14. And i got myself an engine stand! anyone know how they actually hold the motor on??
  15. update 20 valve arriving tomorrow!! sooo excited anyway some more goodies powder coated my sway bar pearl white! and got these speakers new and cheap! stoked as i have the pro coaxials and this is the next step!
  16. Yeah you have to be in direct sunlight to see it well. so kinda pointless really. Hopefully my silvertop will get delivered tomorrow! then i just gotta accumulate all the extra efi stuff and new suspension and rwd conversion bits and peices. jeez gonna be a long project!. anyone know where i can pick an ignitor up from?
  17. thanks heaps mate. my first spray job and i'm pretty happy! last of my pics. when the sun hits the paint it sparkles red! looks nice!
  18. noob question but what is the general running temp of k motors? or most motors for that matter?
  19. should be picking up the silvertop this week. then straight to an engineer to get custom mounts and my tailshaft shortened. will still be about a month or so before its back on the road.
  20. yesterdays work! and then todays effort!
  21. I did this in my car. i used 8 guage. ran a wire into a distribution block and plugged everything except the alternator into that. the alternator wire need to be seperate.. better for chargin your battery so run a wire from the alternator down the car directly to your positive battery terminal. to be legal you need a strapped battery box and it need to be vented to the atmosphere!
  22. Like talk in another language for me.. i don't understand much about ignitors and coil packs etc.. cost? i'll do some more research! any more help would be good! i will be buying a 20v very soon.... to go in my 55 i hope! just waiting on confirmation of a loan.
  23. Holy crap! i've been looking for the ins and outs of converting my ke55 to silvertop 20v. i didn't even think of the distributor! fark! is there a faq on how to rwd a fwd motor? cos i'm pretty lost!
  24. bit more powder coating!
  25. Leorolla... i'll be on the first cruise happenin after my car is on the road again.. race ya through the onk hills again... only this time intead of a smoky 4k i'll have a 4age20v! will be interesting beacause in those hills its more about driving skill than kw! which i'll be pickin up early next week!
