Managed to rip the head off at work today, Looks like I may be lucky enough to get away with a set of valves. Also got the Tighe 104 cam in this afternoon before I left work, Waiting on a gasket set and my head to be fixed and also some stonger valve springs.. Considering shaving the head a bit to get the compression up a tad..

Why not just set the motor to TDC on #1 and put the rotor button on and put it just before where it would contact on #1 on the cap and drop it in?

Well last week I got myself a brand new radiator for the KE70 to fix my temperature issues. Also figured I'd do the top and bottom radiator hoses and a thermostat. Mechanics at work today weren't overly busy as a few people canceled jobs, Asked them if they could do it for me and they did. When running it to get the thermostat to open they noticed the backfiring sound I get every now and again, Immediately they said it would be valve related. They did a compression test on it and it was something like #1 50 #2 50 #3 80 #4 100 - Diagnosis, Burnt valves.. They adjusted the valves up for me and it has stabalised the idle thats been all over the place, Now I'm going to have to rip the head off too see what needs to be done..

Sounds a bit pricey for a brake upgrade.. Sure there are cheaper ways to get better brakes..

I can confirm the auto and manual ke70 tailshafts are a different size, the autos are thicker where they go into the gearbox..

I think you will find that is because most people here have KE's... Not that we want to stop people from adding AE based info to the FAQ, Just not many people on here seem to come here for AE related stuff..

Brushes in the starter are possibly worn down on both starters.. Get an auto electrician to pull it down and have a look or you could pull it down yourself if you can figure out how to pull them apart..

At work lately I've been doing a lot of batteries in caravans that have to be kept charging while driving. We run a length of 6BS (Battery & Starter cable) in split tubing the entire sub frame of whatever vehicle it is to a connector beside the trailer plug. (It is important to double insulate the battery cable as it is not hard for it to wear through the insulative coating on the wire. You shouldn't need cable any bigger than that from what i gather..

I'd just swap everything onto the other block, Less mucking around trying to figure out what is different..

How come you moved away from the 3SGTE?
