They work on sitting level and vertical. If you take the seatbelt out and put it up against a wall and attempt to retract it, i bet it will come out :)

Fuel gauge problem - pull the fuel sender out of the tank (make sure you got less than 1/4 of a tank in the car), earth it to the body and move the float up and down. Have someone check to see if the fuel gauge moves. If it doesnt at all, then your fuel sender is more than likely dodgy. Always helps to have a spare sender unit or gauges to determine which is faulty. I'd say its more than likely a wiring fault somewhere in behind the dash causing it to play up, so before you go pulling out fuel sender units, borrow a spare instrument cluster and plug it in and see if it changes anything. So I've been a little busy..... Now I just have to put some funds aside to by the rings, bearings, get the block acid dipped and balance the rods, crank and flywheel together and get the cam reground. More to come shortly, so stay tuned :)

Did you align the clutch before you attempted to slot the motor in? I find the easiest way is to pull the gearbox and motor out as one unit, bolt the gearbox onto the new motor and slot it back in as one unit again. Definitely mis-aligned though. :)

Hey people. I need to pick up some extra long bolts for so I can mount my 5K on my engine stand, but I need to know this. What type of bolt/thread type are the main bell-housing bolts on a K motor? As I don't have much time after work during the week, I'm finding that this is going to be the easiest way for me to go into a hardware store on the way home and know exactly what I need to get. Jess wasnt too keen on the idea of taking her car such a fair distance, so I think the panel van might have to come along on this trip, or i might just buy a new car in a couple of months and take that and sell off the panel van, which is more a likely thing to do at the moment.
