True, i did look at that as an option when i did mine, we must have decided the hydrolic clutch won though i guess.

pintara diffs are the right housing but you need to convert them to 4 pin centre, (some ea falcons can donate) with the two pin centre they wont last long.

It is necessary if the gearbox you are converting to has a hydrolic clutch, it is not for pedal feel (although it has its advantages) Yep, thats what i was trying to say. :)

I hope this hasnt been covered before I have had a few people pm about hydrolic clutch in ke30, so i thought i would answer publicly in case anyone else is doing this. so i have taken some photos to help out. Some poeple claim the ta22 pedals bolt in, but apparently not. The photos mostly suck due to it still being in the car, but i tried. I used a ta22 master cylinder. The distance between the top pivot and where the cylinder pivots on is 64mm centre to centre. The master cylinder bolts on to the factory location stamped on the firewall, although you have to drill it to finish the job Under the dash The pivot point for thr pedal had to be moved up a fair way from memory

This is one of the smartest, most possible suggestions ive seen pop up in this column for a fair while, i say go for it, it wouldnt have been done to a corolla before i think so you get pionts for originality too.

Back on topic. I think even if your deisel wastegate thingy was working properly, look at the sizing of the turbo, its all wrong! I would have to doubt that a little motor like that could spool a rear housing of that size at all.

I have 17 x 7 wheels on ke30, they are +25 offset, this is perfect to the millimetre. When you go shopping for wheels in +25 you will find the biggest range is in 18s, but then tyres become very expensive. Two that are available in 18, are BSA G2-168 or BSA 358.

So this is too unclear for you mr madrolla68? shall i decode it for you? Both braces, would mean plural, so i have two braces, one to the gearbox bellhousing, the other comes factory with the manifolds. In the aforementioned photographs, both of these braces are not shown as it is easier to remove the manifold without them attached.

I think the vg30s are a fair bit too wide in the quad cam version, so you would have to go the twin cam. I have seen one done in a 120y without too much visible cutting (i only saw pics), so it would have to be possible. The mitsubishi magna / pejero motor is quite small, as it has alot tighter v . These come out in japan as turbo. Or the mazda 929 had a v6 as well, these are pretty massive though, also available in twin or quad cam, i don't think theyre turbo in any form. Theyre about the only other ones i can think of at present

Thanks for your generous insight into the bracing situation, but both braces are unboltable, for ease of working on the vehicle. :y: My quote is also under $500 for the new mild steel manifold, but this guy is damn cheap and very reputable. The gt28rs is also getting the flick in favour of a gt30 with turbosmart external wastegate, will have to keep the boost down though as i havnt finished building the other motor. :P

Heres a few reasons why you shouldnt buy one of those cheap mass production type stainless steel manifolds. This is the most recent one, it lasted for about 3 months its a 3mm thick one This is the one before that, it lasted about a year, it was only a really thin one It has cracked around two of the pipes, and is too thin to weld. The moral of the story, don't get one :D

Speaking of the 2jz, they are a fair bit shorter than the rival (hardly) rb series motor. I just measured my bros one and it is 74cms from clear of the back of the motor to clearing the front pulleys. So this means the motor itself would actually fit into a ke30 with no firewall mods, (and no radiator). I am not recommending this, and it aint legal, but its just another reason why the 2j is a better motor!

A commodore vn-vs 1" master also bolts onto the ke55 booster.

When considering vented rear rotors remember to consider the extra unsprung weight this will bring to the handling factor. If you look at the ford falcons previous to ea they had a vented rear rotor, after ea they went solid, and they had more weight to pull up. :no: keep this in mind

This sounds cool, how often does it happen? I am really interested, except my second exhaust manifold split yesterday. Damn! This will be motivation to get the old beast to handle.

I think its a fantastic idea to have a track day, a good chance to spin yarns and rape our cars (without losing licence) :D I'm in for sure :)

^^^^^ What he said, a turbo vs quads is not a comparison. Quads may give you an extra 5kw if your existing setup is restrictive, turbo should double your power at minimum. Also, if your computer uses a map sensor, quads are a bitch to tune. I have a set for the motor I'm building, but have chosen not to use them due to the tuning issues.

Yep, it is definately a nice car. i also could get no traction, i had 4 people and a boot full of wheels and trolley jack and still couldnt bite in till 4th, but mustve got better traction then him. I'll make that date to race, cos i love it, too much damn fun, maybe he'll get his chance at the next one in a few months, i'll be there, i don't really care if he destroys me to be honest, i just wanna race :P :wink: ] Well, there was a dyno there.................

Yeh i did see the purple lj, nice car, i actually met him on the track too, but i doubt he will tell you about that.
