the borgwarner 78 is definately the way to go, especially with the price you got quoted. Make sure that the skyline diff has a 4 pin centre and 28 spline, if not use the one out of a commodore or falcon, as the skyline or pintara gears will bolt in for a better ratio. The standard lsd that comes with these diffs is the cone type, in falcons and commodores they have bad reputation. My mate got his shimmed, and reco and burnt it out in one night. On the other hand, i have the cone type lsd in mine shimmed up real tight, it has been raped real hard for over two years and never ever has spun one wheel because of the light weight of the car. If you like to go sideways in powerslides, try to avoid the locker, they can spear you of the road real quick. For tramp bars make up a set of caltracs, real easy and work brilliant, there are cars running 8's on caltracs.

yeah its chpped and battered old colour, it will be staying there until i put the new motor in. (Probably right after the QLD powercruise) I am getting too impatient to drive it, so i think it will go back on the road with the stock motor on 15psi, as i don't yet have the funds to finish the other motor and don't want to miss powercruise. :P -

yeh, should be an animal on the 1/4, probably run a 14sec at 130mph :P cos the damn tyres wont stick to the ground. I am revising my caltrac setup to hopefully improve it even more  I have these mt drag radial waiting for some action too, so they should help a bit. The gt30 should spool 26psi by 4000rpm, thats with cams and head porting, so it wont be too laggy at all really, would have boost before 2000rpm. :y: -

Got my car back from the fabricator, so there is progress :P I had to leave the plenum with him though, cos it was only tack welded cos his tig was playing up. What i got done: New alloy intercooler piping New 4" alloy intake pipe New custom high mount turbo manifold with my turbosmart external wastegate mounted. Blitz bov mounted. New 3" exhaust mandrel bent, 2 mufflers, and a metal cat. Couldnt find the good camera so the pics suck, but anyways.... Turbo manifold from top Turbo manifold from the front underneath Zorst from front dump pipe zorst from rear No clearance problems, as the sill panel is the lowest point throughout the car  -
Yep, but mine is taking a little longer than this :P , still stripping all the old paint off.
-
mmmmmm sweet atomic green :P
-
Yep, i agree with raven. I have the efi 5k manifold sitting here, and it has two little outlets on it for those two lines, but both of them just lead to the vacuum of the plenum. So a little 'T' peice should do the trick for you.

Got to love that interior :P overrated!

Nice ride man, very cool! it all comes together well the rims, paint and stubby bumpers. -
:P man, it would take some effort to do that to a carillo! i know alot of people who don't bother to get a proper tune, then wonder why this happens.

Yeh, ive done a bit of searching as well, found nothing much, except that theyre damn old. probably not too difficult, as its already wired to suit a 12a, so i think i will just get a diagram for that and cross reference it over, she'll be right -

It is a disease hey, couldnt stop if we had to :'( Yeh, i have two brothers who have their projects on the go, theyre a bit smarter though, cos they have only one project each. My younger bro is doing a 2jztt into a mid 80s mazda 929 luxo barge. And my older bro has that V8 hr holden in my signiture with the gt42 on it. I'm most excited about the hr, ive never been in a car with that sort of power and torque before, but hes taking his damn time. In fact the fastest car ive been in is mine, which sucks, i think next powercruise i will just walk around and ask randoms for a ride. -

Yeh, the sump is pretty ugly, it was out of a suzuki 4x4, so it was made to clear the diff apparently. :'( thanks for the link, they don't seem to seem to be working at the moment, will check again later but. I think at this stage the little supercharger seems to be easier, i also have to consider that the computer that i have purchased an old screwdriver adjustable microtech, so tuning would have to be more possible with the supercharger. the performance of the turbo would be at least double what the charger would make though, which brings the turbo back in to the picture.......... -

Just had another look over your pics.... :y: maybe where your tdo4 used to be. My inlet mani might have a bit more room, but I'm dealing with a ke25, so its a fair bit tighter than your 30 by the pics. I think the new inlet mani might only just clear the car. -
Vr4 4g63 Dohc Into A Ke30

Sound like a good idea. The last time i got mine tuned with 19psi, the next few weeks i had some scary experiences, wheelspin happens when you really don't want it, or expect it. Eg. overtaking at 80kph at 1/2 throttle, i was just lucky. I would never sell my car without detuning it for this reason. -
I personally would build an alloy heat shield between the carbs and manifold, especially now while you have it all off. As for the cold air, sounds good, it could look a bit crap, but performance is the main thing.

Well, i have done bit more progress on the little 25, have not worked this week due to the rain :S The ke30 is now at the fabricators, so i have a bit of space, and time. Also I finally got the 2k etch on the roof of the crown today too. Anyways back to the ke25 I dragged the little 5k over to mount it on the engine stand, but due to not wanting to pull the clutch off (looks new), i couldnt mount it. After stripping all the goodies off though, i decided i could mount it sideways on there with 3 bolts. :P So i spent the entire day yesterday cleaning the mess of the thing to get it ready for paint. Including all the little bits and peices. tomorrow the inlet manifold gets some attention Also scored a new part for the 'forced induction' side of things. My brother is busy with his new 929 engine, and there are a few bits he doesnt want from the aristo half cut. so i just scored an intercooler. :y: I had a look at the turbo situation, and it seems theres no room. I was going to stand the motor up to create room, but i think i may just go the little sc12 charger.... :sob: Still undecided, depends how cheap each option comes up -
Warm means mildly worked, eg, single webber, small cam, extractors. Hot could mean heavily worked, eg. high compression, big cam, valve springs, port job, twin sidedraught webbers, ect ect. It has nothing to do with what temp it runs at. Weather a motor is warm or hot or cold is all a matter of opinion,
-
Nice work mate, the car is starting to look the goods :S Pretty neat under the bonnet too, should go pretty hard with the webbers on it, definately the best carbys money can buy :y:

Your turbo will end its life at about 1/4 of its normal lifespan, the huge amount of boost that quickly builds up between gearchanges (turbo spinning flatout, throttle suddenly closes, think about it) smashes into your compressor wheel and encourages serious end float. Soon enough your seals start to leak, or your compressor touches the housing, and you go "my turbo is stuffed, need a new one" thinking that the wear is normal, when really the turbo could have gone for another 100,000ks if you had a simple bov. :y: If you have an auto they are still needed, but your turbos death will be delayed further. :S

Intalled A Line Locker?
oh what a nissan feeling! replied to mediumsteve's topic in General Mechanical
Wow, tripple post! The original use of a line lock is for drag racing, locking your brakes on so you don't creep and 'red light'. In this cirumstance you would install it in the fronts. For burnouts it goes in the rear, usually just before the hose that drops down to the diff. ;) I guess you could put it in the fronts for burnouts, but that would be a pretty boring burnout |blink| -
