  1. The lsd out of a ea onwards falcon or vn onwards commo is the same ;) (not a very reliable lsd anyway)
  2. I recommend you run an earth cable the same size as your active to the front of the car. First run to the floor like you have, then crimp/solder another lug to a peice of cable that runs the length of the car to the chassis where the motor earth is. Do not under estimate the earth, it is as important as the active, mild steel is not a good conductor. Many people have struggled to get their car to start good, or even run properly and this is the problem. No good earth. :P
  3. Definately a work of art :y: . Nothing wrong with overkill, looks almost identicle to mine, except for the extra triangles so the engineer will love it. Nice to see that fire extinguisher too, my bros car burnt down last week, and all he could do was stand and watch. That was just a standard camary too, performance cars should always have one! :D
  4. nice thread. I thought about this for awhile, because sometimes i get so damn frustrated trying to get things just right, be it body or mechanical, but i think all of the reward comes when the owner of that awsome v8 can only look in despair as a riced up, chrome wheeled rola pulls away from it. At powercruise i had some awsome reactions :) For more motivation, my mates cars include a 383 ea falcon, 400 vs commo, 304 twin turbo HR, 308 LJ, and i plan to be faster than the lot of them, now that is why i do it, its a challenge i love to step up to!
  5. Yep, just strolled down to the shed to check, and the oil squirters are just bolted in- one bolt per squirter. I have not got a srde disassembled enough yet but maybe they just have a bolt blocking the holes.
  6. Just to clarify, there is no such thing as "file finish with no filler". If possible panel are replaced, even then unless your car is post 90s even the new panels are not straight enough for a good job. In ALL cases the panels are staightened as best as humanly possible sometimes using heat to shrink and stretch metal. Filler is then applied and sanded to attempted perfection. The next phase is 'spray bog', this is a filler sprayed over the whole car and when rubbed correctly fixes any remaining imperfections that the hand applied filler missed. To rub this off normally takes 1-2 weeks. This is how show cars are done. If anyone with an older show type car tells you there is no filler in it, laugh at them, because even from factory the panels are not straight enough for a show finish.
  7. G- tech seems to be very accurate, the only think that can throw it is bumps in the road, even minor ones so you need a perfect road, ther than that it is spot on.
  8. For $1000 the result will be a bit depressing, diy, or keep saving!
  9. its a malpassi regulator, but its worth checking.. I never thought of that one......
  10. Yeh, a definate possibility, but not in this case, the pinging was to a far greater extent than just one cylinder, the breaking down was very severe, and if only one cylinder were effected it would have still performed much better. The other option of course is the fuel system, but i certainly hope that is not the case as i replaced the pressure pump (044), and the lift pump (130gph) only two months ago. :)
  11. The car is not tuned to run octane boost at all. It is tuned to run 98. I only use octane boost at events where i know it will cop a raping.
  12. um no. because that would mean the engine would miss, not pre detonate.
  13. yeh, kind of. I have a standard s14 turbo bottom end there that is in overrated condition so i am just going to reassemble that and put it under the existing head. I also have some gtir cams there i am not using in my good motor so i think i will put those in too with the adjustable cam gears. I would finish my good motor but i can't really afford it at present, i have most of the bits, its just need machining which is going to add up, and i have not yet decided on cams either.
  14. yeh it was nulon, as stated the car ran excellent that morning, and every day up till then. The fuel was two weeks old i worked out. The only variable between the morning and the drags was the octane boost. :D
  15. Well, i took the ke30 to the drags last week, and things didnt go so well.. :D I spent the morning setting the boost to the precise 11 psi, and making sure everything was sweet, and loaded her on the trailer and off to the willowbank raceway. On the way i dropped into the servo to pick up some octane boost i normally use the nos brand but all i could get was some dodgy "octane boost and clean". So thinking this would be better than nothing, i put it in :D . On my first run i forgot to let the tyres down to 18, and smoked the tyres pretty bad, but once i got to third it was breaking down like crazy, it was running that bad that i was changing gears at 6000. It ran a 13.7 at 106mph :y: I couldnt hear what was happening because of the noisy ride i was racing. Soi took it out on the street and it was pre detonating like crazy, from 3000 onward. So naturally i wound the boost off till it stopped pinging at about 6 psi. :P It has run on 11psi for the past year with no dramas, The only thing i had changed was putting that crappy octane boost in the fuel. I did 3 more runs on 6 psi, but without boost the thing is damn slow, running high 13s the whole time. So i got annoyed and did what any stupid prick would do, put the boost back in it :) So it pinged its way all the way down the track, and developed a lovely bottom end tick/knock, and that was about it. :P Moral of the story, don't buy crappy'octane boost and clean'. :D and if it don't work take it home!
  16. could it be the brakes that is causing the problem, not the clutch. The brake booster is hooked to the vacuume off the inlet manifold, which means it can effect your idle.
  17. It is most likely to be a T3 flange, so definately the rb20 turbo is the go if you are only running about 10psi. These turbos are approx the same sizing as the t28 off the s14 silvia. :D COROLLAANDY has helped me out heaps over the last few years with a heap of parts. I have a rb20 t3 here but it is a touch worn, it would need a kit before it went back on a car.
  18. From an engineering point of veiw, the ta22 weighs approx 1030. the ra series is over 1100kg, this means the ta22 slips into the "under 1100 bracket" and is allowed about half the motor the ra series is legally. The ta22 is sooooo much more attractive though, if i had the choice id still go the ta22, even though it has half the potential. (these are the qld rules).
  19. :D exhaust a/r 1.15, this is suitable for a 5.0 litre V8, at minimum, and as the ad says approx 500rear wheel horsepower. The compressor housing on the other hand is more suitable for a four cylinder, so basically this is a poorly created turbo, :) Oh well, probably should do some research next time.
  20. mmmmmm, big brakes. Four pots can give you wheel clearance problems though, but its worth every bit.
  21. :P ah, this is true, yes the pinatara is also the 4:11s, the skyline has 3.9, i stand corrected.
  22. The r31 has the same centre as a commodore or falcon (post ea/vn), only the skyline diff only has 25 spline, it also only has a two pin centre. The skyline diff does however have 4:11s which are very handy. Both the commodore and falcon diffs have a four pin centre, and all of the commo diffs have 28 spline, however only the falcon v8 diff have 28 spline, the rest are 25. To shorten a falcon diff to suit a ke30 you need one axel respline, and both sides of the housing shortened. the restud is about $160.
  23. I have vt ss commo front brakes on mine, with camry strut tubes, there is alot of engineering involved, most people are not too interested when i tell them what is involved. ta22 celica struts are the shortest for serious lowering, but don't offer a huge disk upgrade.
  24. Yep, i certainly agree with that! Drift is a very fast sport. There is a reason why all drift cars are skylines, silvias, ect and that is because they are an amazing drivers car. I have an r32 and in the wet i can get it very sideways at 100kph+ and feel very safe and relaxed doing so, i don't think you could ever have too much power in a skyline :y: .The ke30 on the other hand is a scary car to drive at speed, even the thought of throwing it sideways at 60 is damn scary! :y:
  25. I used camary ones in mine, they were longer, not sure by how much......
