AirTC (now ugh AAFC), 2000-2002, LCDT but I'd done Corporals course but left shortly after to finish grade 12.
Top fun. I was top prof cadet and banner bearer which meant lots of parade drill and lots of early morning marching. Was great fun because I was good mates with all the guys in the banner party. Being escorted by a group of mates with steyrs or drill swords down the main street of town was pretty cool. Standing still at parades and ceremonys was a good challenge. We once had a CUO tell us we were weak etc and we stood at right dress for over an hour until he got the shits that he couldn't break us heh heh. By the time my second year rolled round most of my mates were SGT to CUO so I always ended up getting delegations. Bivouacs were fantastic as were things like survival camp.
Sounds like fear of litigation is really hurting cadets. It was just starting to come in when I got out but hadn't become bad yet. We were still doing crazy stuff out in the bush when I left. Like on state of origin night, one camp had a radio but the main camp about 700 meters away didn't. So the guys were letting off cans of whatever food they could find in the fire to let us know when a try was scored. From memory little cans of asparagus were the loudest and flew for miles :jamie:!
