  1. I'm using a Microtech because I got hold of mine quite cheap and it was also brand new for the price :) That is a good price for the ST 20V and if you are only going to freshen it up then it was well worth the price. If you want any recommendations on businesses for this thing give me a hoy via PM. I had some interesting experiences having mine wired and tuned that's for sure. I did the rest myself though and I would recommend you do too, it ain't that hard and now I reckon I could do one within a day now I know what I'm doing.
  2. Nice choice on the 20 valve, if you want enlightenment there is a good thread on here showing you how to do it. Also check my ride thread if you like I am in SA and I have done this conversion already :) This will be a nice rig, bound to get some attention on here as there aren't so many 86's round these parts :)
  3. I'm down for this too, looks like we could get quite a few SA people making the trek over this time :y:

Nah it is a white panno, and yeah I saw your red one as I was up that way working on our unit. The second time I went back I decided to give it a bit of stick :y:
  5. So any updates on this issue is it all fixed now??? Oh and that wasn't me who passed you up near Mount Lofty, my car was tucked away while I was away on holiday :lolcry: I don't have stock suspension anymore either, perhaps get your facts straight next time hey :lolcry: I would have replied to you on AE86DC but registration has been disabled so I couldn't sign up. I'm not sure why you feel the need to continually pay my car out when you don't know me or the car :y:

Spotted what appeared to be a mini Corolla gathering in my in-laws street today. I moved mine out onto the street, went out in my other car and came back and there was a KE30 parked in front of it and a KE70 parked behind it. All we needed was the KE70 panno from down the road to make it complete. Corolla's really are taking over the street :y: I took a photo, will edit it and post it next week :lolcry:
  7. No real update on the car but something I discovered yesterday... I had kept the 4AC water pump because I was going to modify it in conjunction with a 20V water pump for my cooling system. I was cleaning up yesterday and contemplated throwing it out so I pulled it apart for a look. There were no blades on the shaft at all, just the shaft. All the blades had corroded away and are probably somewhere in the motor!! No wonder the damn thing overheated so badly  This thing had obviously been run on tap water for a loooonnnnnggggg time  I will take some pics of it and post up soon, then it will be hitting the bin. At least I know now what was responsible for starting me on this journey towards 20 valve goodness :P
  8. I really don't understand this thread but each to their own. How about you tell us some more about your ride mate?? :P
  9. cocaine is a hell of a drug
  10. :bash: :no2: :) As for left foot braking, just don't do it. My father in law does it because all he drives is an auto, but it still grinds my gears everytime I see him do it :P
  11. Trav I have driven my fair share of shitty dailys and I don't really want to have to again. I will keep an eye out for a clean KE70 and if I can keep this thing for the more serious stuff

There are actually quite a few 20's in Adelaide  I see a dark blue one in Crafers all the time, don't think the person is on here though :no2:
  13. I have my reasons for thinking of selling, but for that kind of money ($4,000) there is no way in hell. What kind of other exciting things could I buy with that sort of money?? It's interesting to see what people think it is worth nonetheless :y: I guess my biggest issue at the moment is I want to spend more and more on it and I really don't have any to spend. If I could move some of the spare parts I have it would free up some cash and I could get that big brake upgrade I need. I really want to take this thing out to a grip practice day to thrash the tits off it but with the current brakes I would see about 3 enthusiastic corners  As someone else stated city driving just isn't going to be enough to truly enjoy this thing. I also need enough money to fix it in case I pop a motor whilst thrashing, as this does double as a daily for me and will be even more important when my wife has the baby and uses my other daily full time I also think that this car is too nice to be thrashing around a track..... Decisions, options, aargh
  14. So come on then guys who in SA did this conversion then?? I can think of only a few places in SA that would do this kind of thing and they specialise in Rollas. PM it to me if you like
  15. I'm thinking of selling up and chasing another project  What do you guys reckon this thing would be worth??
  16. Sprints was cheaper than $250. Black was about $180 and I think it was $20 extra for white so $200. I had no issues with mine fitting either. Check saauto.com.au to see if they make one for a R31 and if they do then Sprints is the distributor for their products you can't buy from them direct  You have to pay in full for it before you order and they won't take a return on it either
  17. This happens on brake m/cs when you bleed them if you go too far past an old point they crap themselves. Makes perfect sense what you are saying, I guess it is time for a new one and just adjust the piston back a little so it doesn't go in so far. I note that the piston does have an adjustment thread on it where it connects to the pedal, separate to the pedal adjustment item.
  18. Trav as I described above when the pedal hits the floor the shaft goes all the way in to the end of the cylinder. I checked this by pushing the pedal in by hand. It is not being forced in and hitting the end but it is making it to the end. If it was hitting the end it would be a noticeable solid restriction which would stop the pedal going any further which I would notice. Both of the units have been secondhand and I wonder whether due to lack of use they have gone to crap and when I start using them frequently they don't last. I also think I have stuffed up. Anyone else???
  19. I can lend you a hand but I am not going to drill it for you, it's your firewall after all  It is a long job but easy enough once you are shown how
  20. Clutch Master Cylinder Issues I am having all sorts of issues with this thing and want to see if anyone else has had the same problem or has some opinions/diagnosis  I recently did a manual conversion to my AE71. When I did it I had to drill for the master cylinder holes. The first master cylinder lasted about a week and developed a leak out the back of it into the cabin of the car. At first I put this down to being a second hand master cylinder and replaced it. The second master cylinder has lasted about two weeks and developed the same leak. I am not sure whether I am just unlucky with another second hand one or something else is happening. I am leaning towards me doing something wrong along the way, not just unlucky. On closer inspection under the dash everything appears to be working ok. The shaft goes into the master cylinder straight so it’s not that. The shaft does go all the way in to the end of the cylinder though and I notice there is room for adjustment there. The shaft doesn’t slam againt the end of the cylinder or appear to be forced or stuck, but it does reach the end. I am guessing it is not meant to go all the way?? My questions are: 1. Is the shaft going all the way to the end of the cylinder causing them to spring a leak? Should I adjust the next one or put some washers behind the master cylinder to adjust the distance? 2. If I adjust it will the leak go away or have I already screwed another master cylinder 3. Can you buy rebuild kits and how to? Such a pesky little thing to keep happening after such a big conversion but if I don’t work out what’s going on it’s going to be expensive to keep replacing MC’s.
  21. We're not all trying to give you heaps mate but it does pay to know something about your car when you come on here to show everyone. At this stage it just looks like you threw a whole heap of cash at it and know nothing about what you have done to it  I certainly hope you didn't pay $7500 for a 20 valve conversion, in that car it could have been done for less than half that  If you don't mind me asking who did the engine work to the car?
  22. An ADM AE86 seat is no more comfortable or supportive than a XE7X seat, one would wonder why you would do it
  23. sure sure
  24. Um that is not a 2 litre, it is a 1.6 litre 20 valve  Nice car, but I do have to wonder why you would spend 10 grand on an AE82 Seca  Did you do any of the work yourself?? Do you have any pics of it as you have gone along, progress pics maybe? :)
  25. Sprint Auto Parts is where I got mine, choice of colour too, white is best so you can actually see it  White also costs extra. Perhaps decide on what car you want first before you go getting one hey
