  1. theyre not run in within 100 k's but baby modern fresh engines is the worst thing you can do to them I'm not gonna touch government vehicles lol
  2. is that a question?
  3. i also agree with you on this one matt. the thread title should be used as a description of the thread more than anything. and yes, usually who posted it is going to be a better indication of the threads quality/content
  4. it may be fine on a brand spanker...although i thought it was the same as rebuilts. 100 km then change, then 1000, then 5000 all on mineral based oil, non friction modified but hey, i don't know...and mechanics are allwaaayyss right ;) ^o)

  6. you drove 1000km on a new engine without an oil change? you must be the first person iveheard of thats happy with the warranty service anyway ;) good work, write that letter :D
  7. its on the advert isnt it... *smashes head against desk*
  8. uhmmm its straight, its chrome is perfect, it has whitewalls all you don't like is the height? which is probs on bags anyways.... I'm confused whats been wasted? ;)
  9. I'm in ;) but the all important...when?
  10. do you have a diagram for the vacuum lines? if not your not gonna get very far, may have to try track one down... i don't think my one for my 4k ke70 is gonna be the same.... is the carby tuned properly? also another thing to try is there may be some shit stuck in the jets that makes it run like shite. try revving the motor up and then jamming your hand over the throat of the carby to create massive vacuum and draw the shit out...its worth a try...
  11. what carbs are on this motor? if they are those bloody mikunis or solexs throw them into a plane bound for bagdad and wack something like a 32/36 webber on
  12. if you get a workshop that will do the work for less than the value of the car then no worries, but as soon as you go over then your car will written off
  13. your a f@$king f@$k brendo. if you have that attitude just f@$k right off its f@$kwits like you that get everyone shitted off about the number of stupid threads that people can answer for themselves with some simple intelligence that you are obviously lacking irokins quote was a well known quote from the bible you inbred f@$k and killswitch wants to set you on fire now f@$k off, and come back if you have a decent question that you have researched and still can't come to a definate conclusion about.
  14. contact breaker gap.....0.45mm
  15. correct repairable writeoffs FTL!
  16. have you any idea what one of those motors will cost ?
  17. cha ching
  18. have you got a pic of the car/carby? does it have all those vacuum hoses and emissions shit? coz it could be one of those.... shame your so far away, can't come n have a look :jamie:
  19. sounds like you have got the ideas worked out. replace all those pesky components that wear out, and get fatigued. splash out and do the plugs aswell, they don't cost alot for 4k's i had a similar issue on an astina one time, oh, that reminds me, is lead no.2 sparking? if you put the spark plug in the wire does that spark too? (just hold the lead in a pair of pliers, and hold it near the rocker cover, should see it arc to the rocker cover. do same but with the plug in the lead) (I'm not sure how much you know, so rather tell you how to do it rather than you sittin there scratchin your head feelin silly :jamie: ) anywho, back to the astina, lead was sparking, plug was sparking (oh, you can also just swap the plug from one cyl to another and see if the problem stays on that cylinder to eliminate it being the plug. if it moves, then it must be hte plug...ill get to my story eventually) so yeah, lead was sparking, changed order of plugs and it stayed on cyl.3. so thought fuel, had fuel, pulled injector rail off, had fuel, thought compression. rule of thumb compression test came up good. so gave up. went back next day. said f@$k it. ordered new leads. hey presto, problem solvered. the lead was sparking, but over time the lead increases resistance (should be around 25K ohms, the astina ones were over 80K :P )and it couldnt deliver the power of spark to fire properly. umm, so yeah, swap the plugs around to eliminate them being the problem. get new leads, points, dizzy cap etc and see how u go :jamie: p.s. well done on coming to us with a problem you have made some attempt at :P rules out alot of things, like sticking valves :lolcry: or pushrods out of place lol must be rambling by now, goodluck mate
  20. weld and grind, weld and grind she'll be right :jamie: hahaha, can you tell i taught myself how to weld? :jamie:
  21. do the cams on 4a's spring off of tdc or do they sit still? the ones one my sisters 1.8 astina did, but my 1g ones didnt wondering if its a size of cam thing, or a 4cyl thing.... and des, setting cam timing is as easy as justin said, just can be good fun gettin the belt on nice, sometimes have to turn the cam wheel a smidge to make the teeth line up with the teeth on the belt :jamie:
  22. do it yourself ya big girl! never gonna learn otherwise are you
  23. hrmm, don't diesels have headgaskets? the motors may be the same, but the bays and the air flow isnt going to be....
  24. except the gasless ones you can weld panels with, arc you can't. the wire is rather exy tho...
  25. BHG? would explain overheating underload and loss of economy.... maybe just a small leak....
