  1. haah ye thought it was about time haha.
  2. Updated first post with a story :)
  3. Ah you live in the states thought you where in australia. I got a whole car with 160000KMS on it for $1200 I pulled the engine out myself and am now selling off all the other bits and pieces so should work out to be a free engine or maybe even get some money back. Looks very easy to make mounts they are a very simple looking mount, there are actually quite a few of these that have been done in Australia now on ke70's and AE86's as well.
  4. Pulled engine out of the lexus today was quite easy, how do people normally trick an auto ECU into thinking its in neutral? I have got the engine loom off fine, just need to find out if I need any of the body loom as well? Only needs to start and run, will be put behind manual box. Nearly all of sound deadening out of interior, thinking of painting it the original beige as well not sure yet either that or white again not going to be show car quality but will be decent. Thinking of getting car soda blasted instead of sanding everything, only had one quote so far was $1600 for inside and out but not including underside of floorpan.
  5. So is $1500 to $2000 just for an engine or is that with an engine installed? If you go manual probably wont get much change from 2K (if not cost more) if you go auto and use the std gearbox will be cheaper just depends what you want to use it for. Do you plan on upgrading your diff? Brakes? Suspension? If the car is your daily then you will need to buy another car or have some other form of transport, will you be doing everything yourself or are you paying someone to do it all? If you are doing it then how much equipment do you have access to? There is alot of work in a engine conversion, why did you choose 1UZ as well?
  6. double post
  7. Wow thats cheap! is that with auto or a manual?
  8. Engine in lexus should be out tomorrow hopefully. Loosing license soon so will have plenty of time on the weekend now to work on the car, going to go have a look at gearbox and bellhouseing soon can't remember what brand but is close ratio gearbox with 1:1 5th gear bellhouseing, box, flywheel, and 2 clutches for about $2500 I think which doesn't sound too bad for what it is and should work out to be the most expensive part of the conversion. Anyone know where I can get some roll cage tube and get it bent up for cheap in brisbane? all I need bent is front legs, window bar and rear hoop the rest of the cage I can build myself, got a quote from bond cages down south for about $1500 for whole cage shipped but I think I could do it cheaper by just getting those items bent up and finish everything else myself. Also got some new wheels they are 14x7 -5 and 14x7.5 -15 SSR fins, 7.5's should fit overrated in front with the amount of camber and a slight roll and rears should be good enough fitment for skid wheels :) Will get some more nice looking skid wheels later on after conversion is done. Oh also forgot am swapping my front AE86 JDM brakes for a RX7 setup the AJPS type so I can hopefully fit my 14's under them :)
  9. ive got some unknown rear springs can have for $20 look like cut king springs.
  10. I am not registering mine again, but am unable to according to NCOP in QLD which will apparently will be in soon max capacity aspirated is about 3.8 or just under what a 1uz is.
  11. I am doing this to my T18 at the moment, you will need to find a custom flywheel, bell housing/gearbox adapter as they never came out manual, you will need to make custom mounts, hydraulic gearbox pedal box if you have a ke70, bigger diff, better suspension if you want it to handle half decent, bigger brakes, alot of work in it not just engine, box and loom. You can get away with not modding the firewall but some people like to move it back because of the added weight, modify the transmission tunnel to suit gearbox if it is anything other than a W series gearbox and even then will still probably have to cut a new hole int the floor, forgot custom tailshaft. Works out to be very expensive conversion but I think mine should work out to be cheaper than an SR20 conversion or similar but only because I can do everything myself (other than manufacture tyres to burn, haha.) How much of the work can you do yourself? How much money do you have to spend? Do you want to do it 100% properly or do you just want to put one in because you saw another one with one in it.
  12. Yellow pages and a phone :)
  13. and not blown a rod, haha
  14. My T18 1.8L std with 130xxxkms used 6L/100 no matter what kind of driving conditions, after exhaust and 38/38 Weber went up to about 7-8/100kms and about 9 - max 10L per 100 flogging it up mt glorious... at the speed limit of course.
  15. Stole that, haha.
  16. So at the very least if you want to use pre made engine mounts you will need the same stuff I said above.
  17. Is yours a KE70 or AE71? if it is a KE70 then you cannot use the original one because they are a cable clutch.
  18. Someone on ae86drivingclub.com.au sells bolt in kits for SR20 into ke70/ae71, but to start you will need AE71 xmember, pedal box, possibly gearbox xmember too, then there's bigger brakes, bigger diff and lots of other little items.
  19. 2TG have a dummy cam in the block to run the dizzy and fuel pump.
  20. Thats alright for a pair mate from work got a pair of 235/45 18 or 17 for a XR6 turbo for $85 each from Brisbane Mobile Tyres, on Northgate rd opposite north field I got a pair of 175/70 13s for $40 each, going back soon to see how much for 185/55 for my new 14's, and will also be going back once my car is done to see if they will sponsor me as tyres is pretty much the only thing I could use cheaper as I can make just about anything else.
  21. Ive got some extractors off my 3t, and other bits and pieces if you need anything.
  22. I have a mate with a ra28 celica with a 1ggte and his engineer said std brakes are fine as you can't go over 110 on the roads anyway, but all is up to the engineer.
