Raven Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Or Jaycar stuff, if you have it down there.....big on quality, not so big on price. Alpine is fine too. :sob: Dude, just because we live in Adelaide doesnt mean we don't get Jaycar Electronics :no2: If you're talking about their response range, then yep, thats another option to look at as well. :y: Quote
greenmac80 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 What i've found is this... pioneer.... big bass but not overly clear... clear enough but not special... Kenwood.... real mid rangy sort of sound... alpine mid to high range... bass is ok! Clarion.. crystal clear sound... bass is ok Pioneer generally more expensive than most brands Kenwood seems to be the cheapest Alpine.. expensive... Clarion... in between pioneer and Kenwood.. Depending on the sort of music you listen to should be what influences your choice. I run all clarion... now with your gangster sorta music its awesome beats my mate alpine system but when you go to heavy metal you have to turn the bass up... the bass response isn't that good on higher frequencies. Kenwood i believe is pretty good for heavier music... Pioneer is a sorta all rounder alpine hmmmm not too sure Clarion.... good for punchy sorta music.. Hope this helps... but bear in mind this is my opinion..... talk to autobahn they know their shit.! Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Personally a big fan of JBL, their 8 inch speakers, amps, ect. are unbeatable, or on a budget JVC seems to be real good value for money. I avoid sony and pioneer, in the average level range they seem to suck. get dual 8 or so inch speakers for the rear and amp them up. also have some 6inch midranges or something. have dual 4inch midrange in the front like they are now but boxed in properly and a tweater in the windscreen/door pillars =] Sounds like your old man knows what he,s doing. Make sure you run everything off an amp, or all those good quality speakers go to waste. Quote
h1_roll4 Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 IMO pioneer or JL audio. i have pioneer 6 inch speakers up front and JL 6 inch splits in the parcell shelf. nice clear sound from the pioneers and just the right amount of bass from the JLs. tweeter location changes it all tho Quote
benzo Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 (edited) I think Pioneer is pretty versatile. With metal/indy music it is very clear and I think it sounds good. Then with dance/techo, Fresh FM for example, the bass is pretty good for just two 6" and two 6x9", alot of my mates thought I had a sub lol. I have no idea about amps and stuff though so I usually ask my mate for advice. He had a mad set-up in his old Exa, with a mix of a few brands, Kenwood dvd head unit, Clarion speakers, Cadence sub, can't remember what amps. He rates Clarion pretty highly and after sitting in his car one night I can say they're crystal clear. Cheers, Ben. Edited March 20, 2008 by benzo Quote
JiP Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 I think this audio discussion should be made into a separate thread. This is clogging B's thead. Quote
Raven Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 I think this audio discussion should be made into a separate thread. This is clogging B's thead. I believe she started the audio discussion. By other members discussing various audio options, she will have a range of speakers and brands that she can investigate and choose from :sob: Quote
dfunkt Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 at this rate she'll be researching and listening to every product out there in just about every combination/mix of brands... let's hope she starts doing her listen tests soon, otherwise it'll be til after chrissy when she's ready to choose!! :sob: Quote
Murd 55 Posted March 20, 2008 Author Report Posted March 20, 2008 yeah my dads gna come down with me and work it all out and yeah we went to autobahn wen dad was lookin at gettin his stereo up and running and they seemed to really know what they were talking about. there is also a car audio shop just round the corner but i deff think autobahn is a winner. and the kind of tunes i listen varies alot. like i have poppy metal like MSI which is very grungy but has strong beats, then u have more metal stuff then more rock so i need a system to suit a more grunge style of music. DearmanKE Posted March 21, 2008 Report Posted March 21, 2008 i has alpine 6X9's in my ke30 and there pretty wicked for metal, aswell as softer grungier shit Quote
Murd 55 Posted March 21, 2008 Author Report Posted March 21, 2008 6x9's = not as good as round speakers as the circle shape of a speaker makes better sound  Quote
