But can you tell me this.....the extractors on the engine cast items or steel tube light ones?

 

If there bent steel pipe ones NOT cast can you see if there is any Toyota logo or weld in Toyota name or anything identifying these extractors?

Yeh kiddies, back in the day, Bathurst racers were meant to be showroom stock, although there seemed to be some interesting interpretations of "stock".........

 

Yep untill 1973, Bathurst was raced under "series Production" rules, which ment stock standard everything (in theory!)

Teams could balance and blueprint the motors, but that was all.

 

So stock gearbox, brakes, and interiors....just imagine 7 hours thrashing a ke10 round bathurst with drum brakes!

 

Think it used to be displayed at the museum at Bathurst.

I know the trophy AMI got for winning class A in 1968 is at the museum!

But a lot more relevant to you and me than todays bullshit they call "touring cars". It was a true comparision between makes and models. Right up to the end of Group C (1984) the racers still had to run with the majority of the interiors in place and a large number of standard components.

I've seen this car in a few photo shoots... I would love to see this in person!!

It's all relative, back when this was new it would have been quick... 40 years on we have progressed and now it's not so quick.

 

In 40 years time what we are driving today will also be considered outdated and low in technology

The old addage of "Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday". NASCAR used to be like that too until they decided that the cars will only have a passing resemblence to the general style of the car (not even the shape) with headlight-stickers and fake badges etc.

True, but I know what I prefer to watch. Haven't watched a single race since the demise of Group A. I agree with Coln72. The things they race today bear no relationship to a Holden or Ford in the showroom, and hardly anything to Holden or Ford at all. It's just looks like one, sort of. Technology has moved well and truly along, as has safety, but the racing hasn't improved any. Nowadays you will only see me attending a historic's meeting.

The Bathurst 12hour Production Race was only a couple of weeks back- I watched it on the live feed on this computer, but its on channel 7 on March 20th.

 

Cars are production models sold in Aussie, so it cut out the WRC mods etc on Evos and WRXs.

hey cameron, had a look the other day they are not extractors. it has a stock cast exhaust manifold

when i went there to drop my crown off, their main office didn't have any cars in the foyer area. when i back a week later, my crown was in their storage warehouse, and the KE10 was out in the carpark (by carpark i mean staff lockup monitered 24/7, not out on the street).

 

one of their secondary offices happened to have a hybrid camry under covers, they had a few groups through to check it out prior to the official dinner where the classic AMI built cars were on display.
