    My Ae82

4AGE is the sports edition of what you already have. It's obviously a lot more than just that but basically that's what it is. Inherently it doesn't have that much more horsepower but it has a lot more potential as an engine. It is pretty much bolt in, you'd just need to do a few things as the 4AGE is fuel injected, and you're currently running carby. They don't cost too much but in general you'd be looking around a grand for one. They came in lots of models, including as you say the AE92. So you could keep your eye out for a damaged/written off/defected car that has one in it as factory and pluck it out of there as well.
  2. Do you mean literally stick it? Does it never really dry out fully? Or is that stick to it because of the sort of porous nature of it? Like if you put it on, you could still readily get all the dirt out with the pressure hose at the car wash?
  3. You can get dry ice from fishing shops, if memory serves from high school science class you can get a reasonable sized slab for 20 bucks.
  4. Sorry just meant it is extremely sparkly, like Twilight vampires. Too harsh probably.
  5. Thanks Altezzaclub! Great ideas as always. I heard that if I replace the glass I'll lose lots of heat in winter and increase the road noise? What's your experience?
  6. The Edward Cullen of the Corolla world? :P
  7. "I am thinking that aswell as shaving the handles, I could replace the window with plastic like in the coupe version. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how to go about doing this?" Though I admit it could have been more clear. If it still isn't, I'm talking about the windows. After cutting out the plastic, how would you go about attaching it to the door securely? As I'm only leaving the doors as access to the storage space, the windows aren't necessary. I'm making up new door cards so I could simply wind the windows up and not make a hole for the winder, but I like the look and feel of having a solid state window.
  8. I am planning on getting my KE70 registered as a two seater. Not interested in having a discussion/argument about that. I am going to shave the rear door handles to give the appearance of a two door. Not going to try and weld them up or anything so I can still open them from inside/using a button and use the back for storage as the boot is tiny anyway. I am thinking that aswell as shaving the handles, I could replace the window with plastic like in the coupe version. I noticed Lloyd's crew did it to his 1UZ KE, they welded it up aswell though. Doesn't make any mention of how they went about this in his build threads. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on how to go about doing this? I would include pictures but I'm guessing anyone who knows how to do it knows what it looks it. Thanks! :P
  9. Absolutely sig material! :)
  10. Who are the other ten percent? Razzacaine and his Commodore?
  11. But only if I'm using the AE86 steering arm right?
  12. G'day mate, they're called venetians! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/KE10-COROLLA-1967-6...=item563ce6ef12 Few other sites sell them, but they cost more. Sounds like a lot of money ($200AU) but they're made of steel and will last forever. Not a fan of them myself, but they can add a great aesthetic!
  13. I wish people would answer honestly in their driving tests as to what they plan on using their high beams for, then they wouldn't be on the road in the first place! Driving down a straight in a 50km zone, two hundred meters away a modern Falcon pulls out of an upcoming t section and drives away. Safely though, I might add. This bomby old station wagon behind him pauses until I'm around 50 meters away and decides it's the best time to do a U turn WITH A TRAILER ON THE BACK AS WELL. As I slam on my brakes I give him a few beeps, so he stops half way through his U turn to flail his arms at me and start swearing. I can't even begin to think how I should react in that situation. I can imagine sure, something along the lines of going over his automobile with a club of some sort, but I can't think of a rational response.
  14. I think it's better to pull up older posts with most of the information already there than start a new one.. If I was to use the Quaife quick rack set up in my KE70 steering arm, the last guy who posted said I would unable to then use the AE86 struts. Is there a way around this, or would using KE70 steering arm significantly reduce my ability to upgrade suspension?
  15. I have never seen so much passion put into an AE82! Well done! Will there be side and rear parts to match the front body kit?
  16. Dying to hear how much he got charged for the flat battery!
  17. Hey everybody dealing with this problem myself as we speak. Just charged the batt and that's all good. Having trouble locating the solenoid on my 4K. Looked in the knowledge base section but doesn't tell me where to find it. Thanks, and yes I know I'm a total noob.
  18. Not dragging every single light, does that imply you'll just be dragging on the occasional light?
  19. I double dog dare you, to paint it matte black.

  21. Yeah good advice, thanks for the tip! Ichiban?
  22. Any progress on this thing?
  23. Oh I see thanks for the info! Yeah I must have misunderstood. A lot of people say about purchasing half cuts as the easier option because of the loom and essentially everything you need being there. It was just a bit disconcerting as this mate can be pretty convincing at times. Trying to convince me to go SR20DET swap, but I suppose that's a whole other kettle of fish. Thanks for the help Dave!
  24. Was hoping you might reply Altezzaclub! I recall you saying once about the dimensions of the engine bay in the KE70 and the comparative size in the Altezza. Do you know if there are other similarities i.e. fitting brake/suspension components? I was checking out your forum and noticed that a lot of Altezza owners are upgrading their own suspension and so on, TRD Sportivo etc. So would it even be worth considering sourcing those components from an Altezza if they were able to be readily fit in a KE70?
  25. Thanks for the reply Dave. I think you both may have misunderstood my question. The problem with half cuts isn't that they don't have lots of great things in them for the transfer. The problem is that because only half the car is there, the car could have rolled, flipped, done anything that caused serious damage to the engine which you can't tell until it's been driving a while. The question is, taking that into account, do the reputable ones have safety nets in place in case of the engine going awol? Warranties, letting you run it through the gears and so on? EDIT: Considering Dave, that you have used a half cut before without problem, you recommend going the half cut route?
