  1. Wrong site Sam.
  2. Swine! Those are both beautiful vehicles, especially that Starlet! Doesn't the 86 have a 4AGE? What's it running?
  3. Are you joking? The first post says fronts in the rear, and you just said it again. He said fronts in the rear.
  4. What's a smoked perl?
  5. Yeah been reading his blog, that's how I saw the 5 - 4 speed box thing. As far as the engine though I can't see where he says how he got that sort of power out of an N/A motor. I saw the TRD upright mounts and TOM'S sticker, do you think he just followed the TRD K Engine Manual thing? Also any ideas why 4K over 5K? Couldn't see anything about the endurance races needing certain capacity engines. I'm heading in the direction of building a better K series motor and currently have the 4K 4 speed so if he made that sort of power out of it it makes me think the hundreds of dollars spent on getting a 5K could be better spent.
  6. Looks the goods. Is it supposed to look sort of wood finish from a distance?
  7. Reading that website makes me want a KE10 so badly. One day I guess! Such beautiful machines, and so very Japanese! I don't think this is what you were saying Cameron, but did he put the 4 speed box on to get higher RPM faster? EDIT: Why would he use the 4K as oppose to the 5K?
  8. If you are referring to my comment about coil overs increasing ride height it comes directly from the Haynes manual I referred to earlier. I know most coil overs are readily adjustable, but perhaps it's in reference to the increase in shock rate. Reading it back I'm curios too. 'This makes no sense' is a bit of an exaggeration though.
  9. Exactly what destroyer said. The springs you use will be a major factor in stiffness. There's a book I'm reading at the moment called Haynes Suspension, Steering and Driveline Manual. Covers everything you need to know really, your local library will have more information on this than you could possibly get off a forum. Coilovers also add to ride height if you don't have a big enough weight in the car, and presumably this is not what you want either. So there is a lot to take into consideration with your suspension :jamie:
  10. Nah didn't take it off, looked a bit better than the one on the original engine. Just fiddled around with it a bit and it all lined up. Inspiring to hear those first revs of your first engine swap! So it's all in and running, gears are working and all. Thanks for the offer though I'll keep it in mind if I ever have to do it again. Just got to fix a bit of a water leak and do the valve clearances still and then I can take a look at the brakes and suspension and take it down for registration.
  11. This for the S13 upgrade, which a lot of people swear by especially those who drive AE86s. As for doing the AE86 upgrade it's pretty well buy the AE86 struts, brakes, steering arms etc. and put them in. There would no doubt be a full run through somewhere though as it's so popular.
  12. Presumably you're going to redo the whole front set up. AE86 is easier but probably more expensive because the parts are sought after. S13 is apparently a lot harder but wouldn't be as expensive as Nissan components are a dime a dozen, it'd also be harder to get it registered with them due to the substantial change that you'd be making.
  13. You can also get LED replacements from lots of different places, internet, specialist electronics stores on so on. They pop right in same as the bulb, cost pretty close to the same, use way less power and provide lots more light.
  14. You'll be absolutely fine mate. I'm a nurse so you can trust me ;)
  15. For whoever is looking for the closest thing there is to a true Rolla Rat.
  16. Herro! Swapped "new" 4K engine in today, noticed it had a lot of little things wrong with it. A big one being the last guy who owned it appears to have tried bypassing the emissions gear. Clutch wouldn't line up with bellhousing though so going to tackle it from underneath in the morning, redo valve clearances and then watch as it doesn't start! Wish me luck ;)
  17. Haha thank god for edit huh? Yeah don't know his situation, but going 20kms over the limit probably didn't start you off well ;)
  18. Edit: Misread your post, void comment.
  19. Nah wasn't talking about a half cut, not really worth it because of the whole RWD thing. I just mean something with a few more bits and bobs, and that doesn't need major repair to get it working. Sold now anyway, be interested to know if he bought it.
  20. I'll take that helicopter please! ;)
  21. Isn't that what he just said?
  22. What's happening with these meets? Just read 20 pages of Brisbane guys going to "Munchies" every week! Can't be that hard to organise something surely.
  23. Always a visionary blzbubb! Looks wonderful, especially how you sort of rounded the edges off. Did you decide about chrome bumpers?
  24. I don't mean to be a downer, and as you say this is a last resort option. But even having that option in the back of your mind, wouldn't it be better to buy a more complete package? Pay a little more now and save yourself a lot in the future?
