  1. Theres no safer way you could get around it i don't think, best thing you can do is heat it up to soften the glue use something thin, and you would be protecting your paint too so maybe a ruler instead of a blade and then just take it slowly!
  2. I just used a stanley knife blade or something like that man, its perfectly safe just lever them up so you don't bend them simple as that :) There are little round tabs that stick into holes in the boot lid and they popped straight out easy on mine when i did it.
  3. Good on you mate, be sure to keep us all updated on the build!
  4. Just any Pva release should do, is is two pac paint your putting it on? Sometimes the chemical type things in the resin can get through and blister up normal paints. And they also soak any plastics you wrap it in and make them slightly expand leaving wrinkles in the finish
  5. ^ Mine were $20 :P From VK wagon though, they might be an aftermarket one, but either way they are pretty stiff. If the road drops away suddenly the rear wheels will leave the ground. As for xf and those early falcon springs, no way. I saw some of them when i was spring hunting, they are solid as f*ck! Au falcons would be good if they fitted right, whenever i went to lower the car off the jack the bottom coil would slip out because they were too big diametre. Anyone else get this? How low are you having the car? Sierra's need the car to be scrapeshitandscrubtire low. The commodore wagons will have the springs captive til the cars about 100mm off the ground.
  6. Have a look at 97ish model rav4 rear springs man, saw some at the wreckers, look perfect size and firmness for the front springs in a ke70. I had them next to ke70 standards, they're probably 5mm bigger diametre but should still fit better then falcons. They were about the same length that i cut ke70 one down to.
  7. Just finished the fuel economy test for the 4ac + 5 speed i put in the ke70. - It did 7.8l/100km city/highway driving, only mods is emissions/vacuum lines removed. And it isn't exactly driven lightly. I'm happy with that, gone from a 1.3 to a 1.6 sohc and the litres per 100km has gone down by 2.4 :)
  8. Well you can narrow it down to Ke corolla's at least Spencer! But he has a point haha. If your talking Ke70, check out this, there's a fair bit available if your willing to pay some curiously expensive prices for them - http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_nkw=ke70+ultra&_sacat=0&_odkw=ke70+brace&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313
  9. It was standard when it did that. With wheels aligned to the standard specs. And standard height, so yeah i guess you could say it was poorly setup. Take that up with Toyota though mate. And the swaybar has made it a lot better too its probably the best thing i've done to it so far but a lot has changed so i couldn't really say much.
  10. A bigger diametre front swaybar will usually promote understeer if the rear isn't upgraded as well. And, since i put the 19mm one in the back of mine, it does seem a lot happier to let the back come out. Used to understeer all the time if you really threw it in, but i have done a few other things since then so i couldn't say it was all the swaybar. Edit: this is for rear wheel drives though, maybe for Trev with front wheel drive it's different
  11. Looking nice man :) can't wait to see it with the new paint too But, you seem to have an issue with the wheels sticking out of the guards. But maybe thats just a bit of the ghetto-sled showing :P
  12. Only *E7*'s for my desktop :) but you can still choose from wagon or sedan haha.
  13. Thanks man, and yeah i have heard of that one, almost did it, but i was trying to keep the lights shiny though. One of those pics is old back when i had window tint over them.. too dark i think though. And i put a few more pics up in the post, old ones though when it was sitting a little higher with big chunky tires. Cheers
  14. Hi all, well this is my ke70.. Its a 1983 CS model, originally had a 4k with 4 speed and Weber. I've had an ae71 shell with a few goodies, and still have a te72 and another ae71 so this ke70 has stolen a lot of parts off them. Engine/ driveline: Fairly standard 4ac with emissions gear removed, t50 with a T3 short shifter and ke70 diff with 4.1 ratio Toyota Tercel radiator Ae71 pedal box, crossmember, gearbox grossmember and speedo cables etc Body: Full respray quad light setup Black paint around tail lights and blinkers Xt130 Bumpers front an rear No boot/ petrol lock Badges shaved Guards flared Custom carbon front lip Suspension/brakes: Front; xt130 lca's and brakes T3 weld on coilover sleeve kit on shortened xt130 struts, kyb agx sw20 4 way adjustable inserts Poly urethane bushes here and there. Rear; Cut r31 springs with VK commodore gas struts Cut down bumpstops... 19mm vr commodore rear swaybar Poly urethane bushes here and there. Interior; Tacho dash wound back to 0 km, with yellow needles Screwdriver gearknob Deep dish chrome/wood ghetto steering wheel dunno what its from. custom cut down boss kit Te72 seats front and rear Push button start A few custom dash peices Wheels/tires: Cheviot 14x7 front and usually rear. 175x60 marshall tires front 185x65 something tires rear I know i have forgotten a lot of things, this is a never ending thing which keeps me busy in my spare time. Also keeps my wallet light. All of this is done at home by me, and dad sometime needs to lend a hand too haha.
  15. http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=431244 Have a read through this, this is the build for Lloyds Ae71. It has all the modifications that need to be done written up one way or another. And its a good read :)
  16. My old 4k with very low k's did 10.2L/100km...with a 32/36 weber... Didn't think much of it but these other 4k figures are a lot lower.... And i'm currently working on some figures for the new 4ac. I'll put them up after
  17. Any motor started cold without the choke will usually do that, on some motors it may be hardly noticeable, some it will be hardly driveable. I haven't got around to making up a choke cable so i run without it, and it's not fun. Actually while I'm thinking about this, i might have a go at hooking one up today. Cheers :)
  18. If you got one off an Escort or Cortina, it would need re-jetting before it would work with a 4k. If that's what you mean?
  19. Thats what i was thinking but it kind of has a groove on the inside of the perch so it should sit in there fine. I must say i haven't tried this yet but its what i think i will do anyway
  20. Yeah the shocks were $20 from the wreckers for me, near new by the looks of them too. As for sedan and wagon, i'm not sure of the differences but i don't think the sedan ones fit. And I'm pretty sure the VL wagon ones are the same. Yeah i'm near positive the xt130's will go straight in if you put the ke70 spring and top hat on them. They will work with the ke70 LCA's, but if you can find xt130 LCA's at a decent price grab them because you will get the 1 - 2 degree of camber they give if you want that. I haven't got mine in the car yet, but apparently when you put the xt130 struts in it reduces your steering lock, so you need to get some ae86 powersteering arms to fix that up.
  21. This looks awesome man! Doesnt look at all like its been done on a budget, you've put a lot of time into it by the look of that. I swear those corona quads are the same as the expensive 'jdm' ones anyway, only difference is the grill. Also, go xt130 bumpers if you went for chrome bars! mine cost me $55 for both in good condition. Front just needed shortening, which was easy, and the rear needed some custom mounts which wasn't too bad. I can send you some pictures if your interested in that. They really suit the ke70. And they have the black rubber strip which would work well on yours. And did you sort out the suspension? i wouldnt worry about the adjustable panhard rod, i can take the springs out of mine (i don't drive it like that haha just for looks) tuck the whole 14" tire and it still sits evenly. I'm on a tight budget so i was struggling with the suspension for a bit too. The sierra shocks were way too short, i went VK commodore wagon rears - perfect length/strength and price. As for the front.... i took the shock insert out, pulled it apart, and slid some tubing in the bottom- Instant homemade short strokes. don't work as well as a proper job though of course. I'm currently saving up for coilovers though. I got some Xt130 struts. They are the same diametre as ae86 too, as far as i can tell they are the same.. bigger rotors too but the use the same caliper as the ke70 Hope any of that helps at all man, the car looks awesome! One day I'm owning a yellow one  Cheers Ben
  22. I'd only get the front strut brace if i had a decent suspension setup already otherwise i wouldn't even notice it there. The sway bar i would go for first. Have you got a bigger sway bar in the rear already though?? I have a 19mm in the back of mine, best thing i could have done in the back i think. Its very noticeable.
  23. Hey, yeah alright thanks mate il check them out at my local wreckers :) Not too stiff though? not like bounce off the road stiff?
  24. Yeah definitely need some K-series in a few games. I would buy them haha! Theres a little 86 Trueno in this though haha - http://www.driftlegends.com/
  25. I swear i kept seeing *E7*'s in the TV series 'Knight Rider'....
