  1. Blzbub666 is that what you have in the original Cop bait? That could work well then whats the firmness of it do you think? 5 or 6kg or something? Also kickn5k the coilovers are what i have planned for the front, i do mean the rear springs. At the moment all it has it some good shorter stroke shocks from a vk commodore wagon but other then that the perches are standard and its still on the Ke70 diff Sorry if i was confusing in that last post haha Cheers
  2. Oh alright how does that work? You get them to custom make them for you do you? $150 i could probably manage, but at the moment funds are going towards building up coilover struts for the front
  3. Hey fella's, I know there might possibly be a thread that says something like this somewhere and i'm sorry if there is, but i couldn't find an accurate one.. I'm after another pair of springs to suit a ke70 rear mount, that are stiffer. Now i got my hands on some VN commodore rears which would be the right sort of stiffness i want, but they are slightly too small. They would fit in the front of a Ke strut perfect though. Everyone has said get this certain model falcons springs, and fit them front and rear but the standard Ke springs have different diameters front to back! I want some that fit accurately on the perch on the diff! They will be cut, which i know is bad but they will be captive, but i am not putting springs with different diameters in. I have seen a Ke with some certain model falcon springs in the back which were clearly too big and the bottom coil was tucked underneath the perch..... i would sooner run without springs then do that. Does anyone here know the right model falcon, magna, commodore or something like that that fits the back accurately?? With some assistance from the angle grinder of course. Cheers Ben
  4. You should be fine with the gasket glue man, i did once use a silicone glue which softened up with the petrol, but i used a different brand with my current carb and its still going fine
  5. Na its fine facing that way. If it was caused by facing that way, then everyones Weber would make a screeching sound when they reversed... An yeah as Altezzaclub said, just check its not coming from somewhere else i think..
  6. Oh you said you've put new gaskets in... Have a look down the first throat, on the passenger side and just check its clear when you open the throttle right up ( with it turned off) If a bit of the gasket or anything like that was hanging out on the inside of the carb then it could make it whistle like that
  7. No, me and the previous owner of this carb both had it running facing the same way as what it is now. Maybe it is facing a different way to usual, but thats how we ran it . And I pulled the carb off after i drove it home from town the same day i put it up for sale, it should be fine. No problems with it then. what have you done for gaskets around the adapter plate? I'd say it has a leak somewhere where its been bolted up probably just a bit of gasket glue will fix it. And what is it idling at? Also you know the homemade steel bracket that the accelerator cable went through? put that on the front left bolt of the carb (closest to battery), flip the semi circle accelerator bracket up the other way (sorry man i flipped it so it fitted in the box for postage!), and run the cable in from the other side of the motor. Well, thats how i had it anyway but it may work fine like that i guess. And sorry i haven't replied earlier man i'm away on holidays at the moment :) Cheers Ben
  8. Or look into a T series from a te72/ t18. All you need is rear half of the tailshaft and the handbrake cables for it to work + it takes LSD centres when you want to head down that road. However, the ke70 diffs rarely blow with the standard 4kc. Has it maybe just had a crappy weld job and its popped the welds?
  9. In short, what you will need is: ae71 tailshaft ae71/ ae86 t-50 gearbox- 22 spline? the t18 one has a different spline to most 4age's. ae71 gearbox crossmember ae71 engine crossmember ae71 pedal box to suit the hydraulic clutch electric fuel pump wiring loom and ecu and of course, a 4age.
  10. How did it occur? Have you had it apart and put it back together and then it started to stick? Has it just gradually started happening? I used to have this problem with a Weber, the semi-circle bracket which the cable connects to on the carb used to be held on to tight by the nut, and it used to jam whenever it felt like it. I evenually fixed it by swapping a washer for a thinner one to make the bracket not so jammed up. But it was quite a fright when it happens in town amongst traffic...
  11. I've always loved these cars, i can imagine it would be sweeeet to drive, i'd be saving up for one right now if they weren't two seaters.. And IMO, Get the Ssr's, paint the centre's white, and go with the white and silver paint scheme and it would look insane! And try avoid removing the interior too, i'd rather not feel like i'm sitting in a tin for the loss of 50kg... Anyway i'll stop telling you what to do hahaha good luck with it man hope it turns out as good as the ke70 did!! Cheers
  12. Wow looks the goods i never knew Toyota made them like this :y: . Without the badges i'd be thinking more Holden/ Chev kind of thing too. Now all you need to do is slam it! haha
  13. na a lot bigger curve in the t18.
  14. Yeah iv got plenty haha i'm pretty sure I'm selling the T series to a mate though. Could always use a bit of extra $$$ and he needs it more then me - he's doing an sr20 conversion And yeah it definitely seems worth the conversion. I think the 4ac might be a little under-rated. Oh that is revving a bit high at 100kmh then.. oh il see what its like i can always change it later :)
  15. Alright thanks guys :). Yeah my ke70 is an 83 model and it does have Borg Warner with the bolts on the rear. Just from the short drive i had in the ae71 taking it home, It has a very noticeable power increase over the 4k. Put your foot down in first and it has no problem spinning the rears. The ksev struggles even if you drop the clutch from stand still. So i thought combine this power with the final drive ratio of the ke70 and i would have adequate performance ;) I don't mind if the top speed is low. The 4ac is on a 5 speed box as well so shouldnt be revving too high at 110kmh which is as fast as il ever want. I'm stuck on an 80kmh top limit for a year as it is anyway. And yeah i should have everything i need + more. I've got the complete ae71 as well as all these goodies off a spare one. And i'm definately sorted diff wise, i have 2 manual ae71 diffs, 1 reco'd auto ae71 diff, 1 manual ke70 diff and one T series diff with 3.7 ratio + all i need to install it. I'm just trying to pick which one to use haha! Cheers
  16. Hey all i've just picked up an ae71 with a spare diff ( for $100  ) and i'm going to put the 4ac into my ke70. Well, i have heard the ae71's diff centre's have a 4.1 ratio for auto, and 3.9 for manual can anyone confirm this? Ke70's have 4.3 for auto, 4.1 for manual. Are the diff's from the ae71 and ke70 the same? other then the centres of course? Next, the ae71 tailshaft is different is it? I'm guessing the spline off the gearbox arent the same as on a k40 or k50 box. Reason for this is i want to know how i go around keeping my ke70 diff with the 4.1 ratio for now. Might give me a little more acceleration then the 3.9 ratio. Could i use rear half ke70 tailshaft, front half ae71? The struts from the ae71 are the same as in a ke70 too aren't they? I have spent a while searching around but haven't found any real answers. Any information would be appreciated. Cheers, Ben
  17. Then you'll love this! Today I was up at a family owned shack in a small town here in Tassie. Drove past the local tip, something caught my eye. Turned out to be an ae71 flipped upside down and emergency services used it as a practice car to cut off the roof so it was in a bad state. Anyway i decided to ask how much he wanted for the diff, because i couldnt get to anything else at the time. He told me about an ae71 out the back as well and after i checked it out, drove it around the paddock i was pretty pleased with it. Runs perfect, good interior, bit of rust but a straight body, so i asked him what he was after for it, and he said $100 and you can take the diff and the ae71. Yeah i might take it then... Anyway i drove it home on the backroads unregistered and it has about twice the power of my 4k so i'm swapping the all running gear into the ke70. Maybe later in life il go 4age. Its only done 234xxxkms which is nothing for a corolla and the body is straight it runs really well so i would almost sell it for a good $700 or more easy but i want 4ac power! And here is my $100 ae71!
  18. RB20DET, CA18DET and SR20DET all share the exact same gearbox. Same part number and all. Only difference is the bell housing's on them. But, don't go buying one without being positive it will fit, because i heard that of some guy with a Datsun. don't put all your money on trusting him haha. Also, I'm not positive on this, but apparently if you put the sr20 bellhousing on an older ca20 ( Came out in early Pintara's etc) gearbox you can use that as a cheaper option to an sr20 gearbox so that could be worth checking out if your going ahead with this. Only thing is you can't squeeze too much more power out of the standard sr20 before the box starts to let go.
  19. Mine did that as well but this is a ke70. It would leak in around the brakelights and run into the wells where the jack is and there wouldnt be water anywhere else. Is it going in there?
  20. Hey, just a question to those people who have got a cage in their ke70/ae71. Is it actually a noticeable change in chassis rigidity? Because they are already such a light car i wouldn't have thought there would be much movement there??
  21. Depends on the tires a lot. I have 14's with 185/65 and they hit the guard at the front, the top and they sure aren't far off the back haha. This is on a ke70, but if anything, the guards on your would be smaller. I would say keep it 15 or smaller but if you like big wheels on a small car just go with very low profile tires. I'm sure some guys on here would know the exact tire size you can squeeze onto one of them though :) Cheers
  22. Looks nice love the ma61's on it very clean :) So what are the plans? Keepin it slanty? 4age? And is that a t18 rear bumper? Also, when i see a car i get all these idea's of what i would do to it if i owned it haha. So i was thinking an ae86 front bumper  i know its your car and you can do what you want with it, but hey, just an idea, would be different Cheers
  23. I guess this doesn't grind my gears as such but whats going on with people talking up the stuff they have for sale and saying its "overrated"? Doesn't that mean that it is not as good as people say/ its rated too highly? If someone said a movie was overrated i would think all the good comments about it weren't true and that it sucked. Is it just me? Edit: What grinds my gears: Mods messing with my head and making the word " M-i-n-t" come out as overrated in for sale posts haha
