As far as i can tell these xt130 struts are about the same as ae86, its still recommended to use ae86 powersteering arms or you lose some of your lock.. And they have larger rotors on them and the callipers are very similar to the ke70 ones so I'm hoping its a pretty straight forward swap
-
I have xt130 struts here that I'm waiting for coilovers on, ( I'm keen as haha) the springs and spring perch is a lot bigger at the outside, but inside there is another groove further inside the perch that a ke70 spring fits in fine :y:

Oh, no damage in the rear, the fronts can be damaged if the car is crazy low but thats crazy low. The shocks were made to operate in the car when they're extended to say, 400mm? And once you lower the car, they're operating at 320mm? Where the rebound and firmness of the c=shocks may be different. Those numbers are only made up too i don't know how long they run haha. Every time i post theres new messages above it must be confusing haha, this is a reply to you asking if it will damage the shocks
-
Haha no problems man. And yeah, i would definitely recommend it. When the car hits a bump, or you jack it up, the diff drops down and your spring is free/ not captive. I just run VK/VL commodore wagon rear shocks, they're a nice bit firmer and a fair bit shorter over standard. Also a lot of the specialists on here will say that the shock won't be operating in the optimum range once you have lowered it because it will be compressed and such, which is true as well. Edit: Secretly, the springs not coming out anytime soon, its only once you put ones that don't fit right like the falcon ones i had that they will fall out. But even then they wont go far. It is a lot better with commodore shocks to drive with as well, and mine only cost $20 so you might as well go for it :)
-
It depends how firm your going to have them too, but i can imagine 4 or 5ish? Edit - Reeds got it  I cut these falcon springs i had down to 230mm, it was still legal height. Not legal springs though of course haha. If the wheels aren't sticking outside the guards, theres no scraping of the tyre on guard, then there should be no problems. But the way i see it, is if the police want to pick you up for something, they will. Even if its all done legally, they will find something. Just keep it looking tidy, and not overly low will help you a lot.

Definitely do a primer coat. We did a backyard job on mine, turned out pretty average so a year or so later we had another attempt, without a primer because it was just going over the top and it was m.int! Perfect gloss over the whole car using acrylic but after a few days curing the top coat soaked down into our older paint and it now has little rough patches all over the car.......... attempt no. 3 will be done sometime but i don't want touch the paint for another year or two i hate it. That was using acrylic too. A lot easier to work with, and you can sand it back and polish it up a lot easier, but for the long term you can't beat two pac especially if you have access to a spray booth

That one pipe looks like it wants to be bent back up a bit haha. They were swapping exhausts for a roadworthy, and apparently the extractors were a very tight fit in the engine bay and they weren't coming out in a hurry, so they might have ended up having to 'force' them out....
-
With a shitttttt load of work pretty much, i don't reckon i could do it. Brake booster has to be relocated, same with the wiper motor, battery, washer bottle, radiator overflow bottle, anything that sticks out pretty much and then weld up the holes left from removing this stuff. And of course, all wiring is to be hidden....................... But you could still get it pretty tidy :) i'm going to give mine a bit of a tidy up soon
-
You need decently short stroke rear shocks to pull it off without the exhaust hitting diff, and theres no problem with the ground as long as you don't drop the exhaust down any lower then it is up front.
-
If that 20v is in running condition and the ae71 is decently staight this would be a pretty good buy!
-
^ Yeah, i think the ke30s and ke55s are the ugly corolla's! Ke20's are a nice looking corolla. ke25s; even better :) And after that i'd say a flat front ke70, they look nice once you drop it back down to a normal ride height. Slanty fronts, the 1984 model ke70 and ae71 model, hmmmm not as nice.

15 x 10s look sick on cop bait :) interesting hub cap type things though. And that picture of Jail bait sitting on the trailer... it looks like it wants to kill the ute thats towing it haha it looks tough as

Well, i'm running out of stuff to keep me occupied during the day in these holidays. Decided i'd pull the handbrake out of the ke70. Lost track of time but over an hour passed with me sanding and polishing etc, i now have a chrome handbrake. Now i'm looking for more stuff to polish.....
-
2 door and chrome bumpers  I wish we got them down here. And i wish we had snow to go driving in haha it sounds so fun. Keen to see some more pictures of this too! Cheers

Its your car man! And it looks sick, they say don't mess with an original item, but you bought it didn't you :)
-
Sedan looks sick i love the wheels, and the wagon looks sweet too the two tone paint sets it off. Now, come on we want more pics!

Do you know what fuel pump it has? I know when some people do the 4age conversion they mod an ae82 pump to fit, and they don't sit low enough in the tank so they start to get issues when the petrol gets low.
-
He's tinted the windows for a reason haha. Pretty sure they need mod plating
-
Il leave this here too for inspiration haha. From memory i'm pretty sure it had an sr20 + silvia brakes/ suspension and all
-
If they are shitty universal flares maybe, but when its done right... But your right, theres no going back if you went this way.
-
K50 gearbox. Thats the 5 speed made for K series motors
-
Disc brakes on the back?? What else has this $300 steal got you haven't shown us! What diff has it got in it do you know? I can't believe this haha my granny spec ke70 cost more then 3 times the price of this! Looks like your doing well with it man, keep us updated!
-
Shortening your Lca's will bring the wheel in, but result in a lot of positive camber! Have you looked at bolt on flares? they don't look too bad :)

If you get whatever it is your levering it off with right up next to the tab, then pul/twist it to push the badge away from the body, it comes out easy. It will only crack and snap if you bend the badge so thats the main thing to watch
