  1. oh ok but not W55-58
  2. downgrade to ke25 discs and run 12s with low profile mini tyres
  3. i'll have some at the pub first
  4. there are no pounds-per-square-inch (psi) in a clutch, it's not a turbo. if you mean the conversion from newton-metres (Nm) of torque to foot-pounds (ft-lb) of torque, then google can help you with that http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Manual_Gearbox this will teach you about gearboxes http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Clutch this will teach you about clutch setting showing a little bit of initiative will get you a long way around here. showing none will do the opposite
  5. didn't 5K townaces also have sideloader G52 boxes? i owned one of these bellhousings a long time ago, and that's what the wreckers said it came from and that would make the gearbox a W50. the same ones rotary boys put behind 9 second 13b turbos
  6. i like them too, when it's done with the rest of the japanese style, like stance, camber, flares, etc. and the balls to back up the look if you were just going to whack it on a stock australian corolla, well...
  7. don't do it. PM me his phone number instead :P seriously tho, i think it's a great idea. it would make the car awesome to drive without being stupidly overpowered, and has alot more potential than a 4a-c. all you'd need is a box and wire it up, and a fuel system and if you ever get sick of it, you could most definitely flog the engine and ecu for that price again, and drop a DET in its' place with a minimum of fuss
  8. you are. it's happened to most of the ke30-55 owners i consider close personal friends
  9. if you want to get technical, the sacrificial part is usually referred to as a "driven plate". when someone asks me about a "clutch plate", i ask "which one, driven or pressure?" :P pressure plate to flywheel - 21Nm flywheel retaining bolts - 66Nm
  10. then it really depends what sort of "drift" you're talking about touge racing is a different creature than professional D1GP
  11. japan. buy a plane ticket and yes, it would. cheaper too
  12. the clutch doesn't touch the engine there is a torque setting for flywheel to crank, and there is a torque setting for pressure plate to flywheel, i'll look them both up when i get home i suggest buying a gregories manual don't forget to install a spigot bearing in the end of the crank
  13. cheap acrylic is $100/5L alright stuff is $300/5L and you can also spend like $1000/1L on paint so yeah
  14. yeah we're all into the absinthe here :P there are some "interesting" videos floating round of me off guts on the stuff at rollaclub parties, hahaha my curiosity has been piqued, i must try this stuff
  15. bounce it off the limiter and see for yourself. maybe it uses an ignition cut but keeps the injectors going, and it backs up into the inlet because of the low vacuum. it's actually a really soft limiter, you hardly feel you're on it
  16. it was me :P hahaha
  17. google tells me jagermeister is a "herbal liqueur". wtf does that mean? what's it taste like? one of the "recipes" on the wild turkey site is turkey and oj. i wonder if that would be a bit wierd. i'd try it but don't want to get into the "needing a drink every night" thing again
  18. zze122s do phat handbrakies, have some fun :P get ready to sniff petrol when you bounce it off the limiter
  19. nah, throttle cable stuck down, common ke30 problem
  20. i used to buy street machine, then they went thru a big phase of just publishing elite cars and i got sick of it so i wrote to seddo, saying i wanted less trailer queens and more street driveable realistically modified cars. he basically told me that elite cars make money and i could get f@$ked next issue, street machine of the year article had steve leerentveld's orange torana doing a massive burnout and the words "do you think actually driving your car had anything to do with the win?" to which he replied "hell yes" so i decided seddo was full of shit and he wasn't getting any more of my money. they still have the best, most useful tech articles tho
  21. depends what you consider drifting. the intense show of skill on display in D1 practice rounds is infinitely more exciting than watching australian silvias power over around our shitty tracks
  22. no, nick's right. look at old b&w footage of any major car races. oversteer has always existed, it just took some clever marketing to turn it into the main focus of its own competitive sport. that part of it did indeed originate in japan. D1GP isn't even that old, it started whilst S14s were the new new model
  23. we had the chief of the rescue squad here, a very well known responsible townsperson with a long-standing well-know local business, put forward a proposal to council to have some old piece of road that nobody uses blocked off once a month for legal drags. under full, free, supervision of the SES and they knocked it back. if he can't get it through, what chance do we have? the speedway spent 10 grand building a burnout pad, only to have it shut down after the first meet because people complained about the smoke and noise more tracks is the answer. more driver training is the answer. but nooooo, more speed cameras and every k over is a killer ads and revenue raising is the name of the game. f@$k that
  24. i don't think there's anything wrong with learning to control a car on the street, as long as it's out of harm's way. they stop us from having racetracks and supervised motorsport meets, what do they expect?
