Just saw this in medicine mans projects thread... I'm guessing that is the sump fitting you're talking about?

I used to have a very basic fuel setup. Consisted of a Carter BLACK pump (100gph and 14-16psi) - which had about 12psi in the engine bay, and NO REG AT ALL! This gave me a potential of aboput 10psi of boost (keeping a 2psi fuel presure buffer). HOWEVER - It was only possible because the needle and seat in the weber I was using could hold the 12pis at idle. If you tried to do it with a stock carb the pressure would bust open the needle and seat and turn you carby into a fuel fountain. If you use a proper carby turbo rising rate reg then it actually works on the send line, not the return like an EFI setup.

He was at my house yesterday talking about this engine and said that it didn't have the lugs under 1 & 4!! So that explains it. I thought there was no such thing as a flat top 5k!?

Done and done. How about we say 10am at my place, and then 1030am at the car park for the St Leonards dog park (thats what the car park is for). Then we a have a leasuely 2 hours to get to Bridport for a BBQ. .......and who's bringing the cooking oil!!!!!????? :bash:

Some heads (don't know what vehicle) had some weird anti polution stuff that used these pipes. Do the come off the top (manifold side) corner of the head on a 45* angle? Was looking at one the other day. Fitting in sump might be an aftermarket oil temp sensor. Does it look stock? .....and was the engine siezed?

Oh and I forgot to say Casey...... Clean the area really well, and then douse it in flour (yes cooking flour) and run the engine again. It'll make a cluggy mess, but will help identify where the leak is coming from dramatically. :bash:

Used to help a mate out a bit who had a 7mgte in an MA61. And he picked the 7m over a 1jz cause it was slightly cheaper to purchase. Was that a bad decision!!! :S Blew several HGs. When he first got it we checked the tension on the head bolts and they were over 100fp!! :y: Still blew that HG in a couple of weeks with a genuine gasket though. When I was hunting for ARP bolts the 7m ones are the only commonly listed ones in Aus for Toyota motors. Thats still a pricey exercise though as they are "torque to yield" meaning you can only use then once. I was trying to convince a mate with an old RX30 cressy to drop in a 2JZ and fit some tripple side draft webers!! :bash: How cool would that be.

It would be more than likely the filter or the oil send for the turbo/pressure switch as both of these are under pressure. The fuel pump is not, so unless there's an obviously dodgy gasket i doubt it would be that.

So you are aware that you could pick a better engine then!? Let's assume that you're getting it for a bargain basement price off a mate. Is this cheap price worth the cost continual maintenance when if you say bought a 1JZGE thats gunna be a hell of a lot more reliable!? Hey Peter, The ke70 (DX) diff is slightly bigger than a '30 one so you can't just fit the centre. Also cannot fit the whole diff as the '70 is coil not leaf. Sort of doing an upgrade, just keep searching for a correct banjo ke30 centre, should be too hard to find. Alternatively you could also just swap the whole thing out for a ke55 item which would still be bolt in. :wink: If you plan on doing an engine conversion in the near future maybe look at upgrading top a T series or cut down hilux conversion now. ;)

I dare say they'd be the same. I'll confirm with a side-by-side pick in the next couple of days as I have both at home.

Use an electric solenoid on a switch in the dash. Then it doubles as a number plate hider for when you may require one. ....and because you have the fuel filler there it would be easy to get out of if you every get pulled over by :( . "Sorry officer, I just filled up with petrol and forgot to flip it back up!" :)

You'll need a rising rate reg to put some boost up its guts. The stock ones will only be "vacuum referenced". :(

Just out of interest Jono, do you know what that is circled in the pictures? Some sort of oil filter? or maybe a BB oil restrictor? :(
