Cool cool, they're not overly common in Aus, so I just assumed the lugs indicated it was a 5k. All dished piston motors have those lugs. :y: You should chuck the electronic dizzy back in it too mate! :y:
-
Right, I think your main issue is fuel pressure!!! It's great to see that you were using a CARBY turbo rising rate fuel pressure reg for the old setup :) , but you cannot use that reg for your EFI setup!!! That reg will have a base pressure of about 4-7psi, when you need a base pressure of 30psi! :y: Get yourself a 1:1 EFI malpassi and you might be good to go. On a plus note - You won't have an issue selling the reg you have on this site!! There's a couple of people building carby turbo K's and will need one! PM both Rundell and Murdress_ke55 and ask if either want it. RRP on a new one is about $90. Swap reg and come back if you need morer help. :y: Oh and take some more pics of the other side of the engine bay, ie turbo. You running a manifold or j-pipe?

Pink and white gone. Yellow and orange left. :y:

Hand brake work on the rear drums, so removing the tailshaft won't make a difference. You'll really need to have it up on jack stands anyway. Some 4wd's have a drum brake for the hand brake between the transfer case and tailshaft. Is this what you were thinking of? as for stripping the engine bay, you might want to leave most of the stuff there until you have the motor fitted inplace. Then connect what you need to and remove what you don't need. Just saves having to re-fit something you un-neccessarly removed. :y:

Schweeeet. Will be waiting for vids Thursday morning! :y:

Nice looking rig mate, keep up the attention to detail. Hey I just tried saving and zooming in on the engine number on the block, but can't see. Reason I say is because that is a 5k head, not a 4k!!! You can tell by those lugs under spark plug holes 1 & 4. I assuming you do infact have a 5k, as a 5k head on a 4k bottom end would result in uber high compression!
-
They're cheap as chips (I paid $80 for a great condition one) and Steve Orders probably has like 50 of them, so they're not hard to find either. And they only take about half an hour to fit (drill holes in stone tray and make simple brackets). I just getting a pretty alloy pipe made to replace the whole lot, so you can have the hose attached to it too!
-
Pipe is a bit of old exhaust actually!! Bought the cap and got it welded at a radiator place - $20. You can have that one in the next 2 weeks if you want it!?
-
What size is the cold start injector? I dare say it'l be too big for water/meth, and you can't use it for NOS, they use little jets like a carby. Where you moving to?
-
Yeah its basically an EFI setup that you need, but with a CARBY rising rate reg like this.... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Fuel-Press-Reg-TURB...1QQcmdZViewItem Or one of the malpassi's that I used to have. Depending on what size EFI pump you use, you might also want to run its power through a ballast resistor to drop the pressure and voluum. :y: Is "your friend" somebody off here?
-
Plenty of turbo K info around here, main thing is sorting the fuel system - always remember to keep fuel pressure above bost pressure. Shoot me a PM if you ever need some help. :y:

hehe 300hp and you just walk on by!!! :y: Can't wait to see this beast do some passes! When you plan on having it down the track?

+1 for 3 core recondition. as for easy replacements, I'm running a VN (I think) commonwhore rad. It's obviously a bit wider than any corolla one, and just fits into a '55 engine bay...... These ones have no cap on them (its on the overflow bottle), but the later VP onwards ones do have caps on the passenger side. *BTW I might have the models round the wrong way* :y: As the inlet outlets are in the same spots as a rolla, all that needs to be done is extend the top hose. You can see I have done this with the cap (which is just about to be replaced) in the extension pipe. Cooling is fantastic, I'm not running an engine OR thermo fan, and the only time it ever gets slightly hot (just over 90o) is in maccas drive through on a hot day!!! :y: The little "tray" on the top of the rad is also great for sittinhg bolts and nuts etc in while working in the engine bay! :)

You can get bosch super sport plug lead sets from SCA for like $20. :y: We need a bit more info on your setup to help you out mate. Has it been running befor with no issues or is this a new setup? As Beerhead said, what is you input trigger? Electronic dizzy or CAS? Are you running a dizzy cap still or 4x coil packs or 2x waste spark coils? Are you actually running an ignitor? or does the dizzy have an internal ignitor? Also chuck up a pic of your engine bay if you can!! :y: I also have a turbo 5k with 7ke injection on it.

You've never watched DA (Drift Australia) befor hey!? :) -
Just put the 3k-c stickered tappett cover on the 5k and the cops/transport will never look twice! :) As for turbo'ing a K motor, there is plenty of info about this site. Like Irokin said in your other locked thread its pretty obvious you did absolutely no searching first!!!
-
May be a stupid question, but is there enough fuel in the tank?????? If you left things disconnected for a few hours some fuel would have evaporated, but not much. Was it low befor disconnecting the mechanical pump?
-
Dude....no offence, but installing an electric fuel pump is one of the simplest "do it at home" mods you can do to your own car. If you can't work out how to do it, maybe you should get a mate/dad etc to give you a hand befor you start a fire in your boot or something!!!!! :)
-
Double check the pump flow as Dan said, also check the wiring polarity. I know this sounds really simple, but you might be blowing bubbles in your tank!!!! The pump actually works yeah!? just nothing happens? I know you said its self priming, but have you tried manually priming it first!?

Thats when you jump on the brakes and let him rear end you and take him to court!!! It would have been 100% his fault as he was travelling too close to the car in front to give himself room to stop!! -
