Hey Leon, By lookiung at that pic, you can just see one of the loobs that hang off the bottom of number 1 and 4 spark plug holes. This indicates that your 5k is actually a dished piston motor. See how you go with the parts for that dizzy, if you don't have much luck then let me know and I could provide you with on e of the more common 4k dizzies. I'm actually coming to Hobart on Friday and could fit and time it if you wanted!?

Sr20det Into Ke55 Coupe And Engineering Laws
Taz_Rx replied to Osmosis6176's topic in Engine Conversions
Standard fuel lines aren't adequate for a turbo 4k, let alone an sr20!!!! :y: Main problem is the size of the return line, its only really a breather. What I did was disregard the existance of the stock return, ran new some 3/8 rubber hose under the car as a new SEND, then used the stock send as the RETURN. :P -
knew you would say that!! :y: I blew a head gasket last week (only cause I had a water leak and dragged some ricers on 110oC  ) so I won't be coming this week end, might come for a drive if some body has a spare seat though. :P Should have a 5k in her by the week end after...well thats the plan anyway!

Yeah the pics of just the mani, thats the one thats for sale in the states atm. Has been modified for different turbo, guy reckons after looking at heaps of flanges its been modded for a mitsubishi TD04, but if it is, its not the same flange as my TD04!! :y: Dookie, my manifold/j pipe has been sold with everything else, I sold a WHOLE KIT.

"ke70 slides" :y: Its a good corner that one hey! When was that? make sure Ed lets me know next time your going!!
-
couple more piccies of the manifold. you can see the half bolt holes on the inside 2 and highest 2 which are most deffinately for a K. :S
-
Probably not corolla in particular, but would be built for a starlet. Deffinately K motor though.
-
Only ever seen them in the states. Waiting on a reply for a HKS exhaust manifold for sale. If I get one, then I can justify the HKS sticker I'll put on the front of the door.........NOT!!!! :S Heres a couple of piccies. Not much point in asking me about them, cause I have no more info.

Did well on those wheels and advans for $150!!!!!! :S I just bought a second hand set of A032's that have done for 12 laps of symmons plains for $350 JUST FOR THE TYRES!!!!!! And any car looks heaps tougher wearing a set of these! :hmm: :hmm: Just keep an eye on that one that you pictured alone, cause it looks like a re-tread (although it can't be) and is starting to de-laminate!! cool!

:S I've actually been enjoying not having a weldy lately (except every time I'm in the mood for a clutch pop of coarse!!) and couldn't be bothered putting 1 in for 1 day at the drags. :hmm:

No what its like Matt, I've only just recovered from Targa Tas myself. Ideally I need the head by next week end, cause I should have the 5k by then. Removal of the carby stuff from my car, and re-fit to new car is booked in for the week end of the 30th of June, so I don't need the manifold until then. Actually, if you sent both in 1 box it may be over ausposts cubic metre rule. If this is the case them I HAVE to get it couriered which will cost heaps from WA! so it may be a good idea to send the head and mani seperately. What did we agree on for the head?? think it was like $150 freighted?? I'll check my PM's :S
-
I know the answer to that question........but I'm not going to tell you cause it would take like 5 minutes tops to find it out for yourself with a little SEARCHING!!!!!!!! :S
-
Test and tunes are usually $35+$10. Yeah private drag day are not really viable without 50 people going to split the cost. Ie, outlaws or the hot rod club etc. If anybody is interested in getting more info for the drags, ring Forster St Wreckers and ask to speak to Leigh Flaretty. He owns both FSW and the drag way. :S
-
Drivable or MOVABLE?? I have one you could borrow (one with the busted sun gears which are still not re-welded), but yeah its only suitable for moving, not driving.
-
The only carby I can garentee you can chuck on and it will work with no mods is a DTMR-A 32/32 weber, as I know from experience. If you wanna get hold of one of these the were fitted to fiat 128's and x19's, and also alfsuds.

Took a mate for a thrash yesty arvo. Dragged a coupel of ricers up the outlet, didn't know I had a leaking water hose. Boiled it dry and blew a head gasket!! :S Oh well will get 5k here by next week, change heads and drop it in for a month and a half with the carby stuff.
-
Ah sorry man, didn't realise you were a yank. Yeah different kettle of fish with lsd's etc over there then. :S
-
Yeah draw through is heaps easier to set up because you're not putting boost into the carby, most don't like it much! another couple of things to mention if you don't know much about draw through, you can't run a cooler or BOV. If the bov goes off it would spray air AND FUEL all through the engine bay, and if you have a backfire through the inlet manifold with and intercooler full of perfectly mixed fuel and air...... :S well I think you get the idea!! Also gotta have a turbo suitable to have fuel run through it with the right seals.
-
:S :hmm: Think I know why he's selling that trev!!.......were's the waste gate!! or are some t3/t4 turbo's internal waste gate?
-
Guy is getting my cooler and all of the exhaust which wasn't originally advertised for $1150 fitted. you can do things a different way to me as well, and go suck through. basically all the same turbo oil and water stuff, but then have a side draft (well normally) carby BEFORE the turbo and then just have a pipe coming from the outlet of the turbo to the flange on the stock inlet manifold were the carby used to be.

Anyone Know If A Turbo 3tc Has Been Done Before?
Taz_Rx replied to Brendo's topic in Tasmania / Hobart
Well you were the one that was winging about having to come up our way all the time! :hmm: why don't you stop in and have a beer next time your upthis way! :S You know were I am, and I'll take ya for a laugh in your old beast, you can tell me if it quicker than a 2tg! -
Hey man, have a look in this forum about 5-6 pages back. Theres a thread called "turbo 4k" or something like that and there pretty much all the info you need to know there. You can also have a look at my projects thread and see how I've gone from a very "agricultural" :S setup to something a bit better and quicker while still retaining a carby. But I'm just about to go the other way now and chase Madrolla with an EFI 5k, you missed out on everything you needed a few weeks back when I sold all my stuff!! :hmm:

Get yourself hold of a permaseal 1 piece gasket. they're actually listed in Lukey catelogues as "extractor gaskets" and they're a shite load better than those crappy ACL 2 piece things. The worse thing about them is were the the 2 gaskets but up on the double exhaust port area (were you've got some major chaf there), and when you up your exhaust temps a hundred degree or so, they only tend to last a couple of weeks. :S the 1 piece permaseals normally last me around 6 months now! :hmm: Plus at bursons were I buy my gaskets......ACL 2 piece - $15, permaseal 1 piece - $8. Not a real hard decision I think!!

Not unless you re-calerbrate the guage!! :S but thats just rice. :hmm:

Anythings posible with enough time and money!!!!! :S I think you'll find an rx7 diff would be a bit wide for a ke20! Are ke20's coil or leaf? I don't actually know! but gen 1 rx7's are coil. Also series 1 & 2 rx7's are 4 x 110 PCD the same as a ke20, but no LSD's are available for these guys unless you fork out around $1500 for a Guru custom centre. series 3 rx7's (still gen1) did have factory race LSD's that are still available if you look hard enough in average condition (not new) for around $600-800, but s3's actually have 4 x 114.3 PCD like a ke30-55, so you'd have to change stud pattern to use that diff. As for the front struts, anything is possible if you have the patients and a bit of spare cash!! A mate of mine modified s2 rx7 front struts into his old race capella. The bolt spacings were the struts bolt onto the ball joints are slightly different for the cap to rx7 so he used made up a small adapter plate that used 1 common bolt at the back and then one from the bottom on the ball joint and 1 from top in the strut. This actually also moved the bottom of the strut forward and outward which was good for the race setup of the car. He also had the option of using a coil over kit and koni inserts that were available for the rx7 strut but not the capella. As for the top hats, get some k-mac etc adjustable strut tops for the rx7 struts and mod them to fit the ke20 towers. Just on gen 1 front brakes, there not bad, my mate used them on the race car with good pads, but depending on what you want, they could be better. If your going to go to the effort of doing all of the above, you'd might aswell go the whole hog on the front stuts and modify some s4-5 rx7 4 pot calipers and discs onto the gen 1 struts!! Think that about covers it!! :hmm:
