You Better Check Yo Self Before You .....
Taz_Rx replied to Evan G's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
Weather he want to participate is another story though. You guys made us feel old last time, we might not be 'hektik' enough for you this time. ;) -
I'm sort of interested to find out how long my relay limiter idea will work. I have suspicions that if you constantly bounced it off the limiter it might burn out the relay pretty quick. Might have to send that dirt circuit guy a PM and see if his is still going strong. ;)

I'll swap you...... Them me how long this is...... ....and I'll answer your question. ;)

Funny you should mention that. One of our local members brought his 5k powered ke18 on a toyotas cruise, and he had bugger all room between the fan and rad. While stopped for our lunch brake he went to get some food. Took off sort of hard, the engine moved slightly and the fan sliced up the radiator core. ;)

If you don't get Daves then you can buy it from Enzed, hydraquip, pertek etc. You can alos buy it off ebay. :blinks:

Is that MDF or ply? If you want to paint it either way I'll give you a suggestion when I made mine. Give it a spray of 'spray putty' before painting. It seals off the wood so it doesn't soak up the paint and look like painted wood. ;) Also go down to Burson etc and grab yourself some of the Narva 3/4/6 way connectors. Then sit down and trace out your wiring as there's plenty of double/tripple ups with powers, earths, lights etc. and wire it up to the plugs. Probably 2x 6 ways should do you. Now all I have to do to remove my dash is undo the screws and un-click 3x plugs.

Sweet setup. I've had ideas in my head of one day doing a corolla drag car one day. Tube frame front end KE30 2 door. 7k with a charger mounted exactly where you have yours and a big holley/carter carby hanging off the top of it. Bug catcher like that hanging out of the bonnet. Basically a bit of a piss-take on the V8 drag car look. I figure even with the small engine you'd still have a lot less weight than a commonwhore/falcon so wouldn't be too much slower. Keen as to see how this goes. ;)

I'll have a VL pump for sale in Launy soon too if you want something slightly smaller. ;)

I think it needed to be a song that's played on telly on a Saturday morning for some of these guys to click on. ;)

;) Not a bad idea to get you home without sucking in sparrows. By the looks of the condition of the proper filter the drink can might work better! :blinks:

Toyo will bolt straight onto the 4k or 5k..... after you've bolted the 1k's flex plate and torque converter to the back of it. I'm going to assume that 1k engine mounts are like 3k ones, which are different to 4k and 5k ones...... BUT they are all the same at the end which bolt to the cross member. SO - you just need to make sure you get a 4k or 5k WITH ENGINE MONUTS. ;) There pretty much isn't any wiring to do!! Just bolt the 1k ancilleries (dizzy, alt, carby, waterpump/thermostat housing etc etc) to the 4k or 5k if they're different.

^ ;) 1, Thats what a fuel pressure regulator is for. 2, New bundy tube bigger than old stuff, or run rubber hose and cable tie it to the existing bundy tube..... not ideal though. 3, 1.5Lt is fine. I surge tank is basically 'fuel in reserve' so you just have a bit more up your sleeve.

Thats only half done at the moment. I need to add turbo info to that article yet. Anyway, as theNobbler said don't discount turbos yet. Superchargers can destroy gearboxes just as quick as turbo (if not quicker because of reaching full torque quicker), it really just comes down to how you drive it. As for cams with a SC. You want something pretty mild if not just a stock one. If you go too big the SC will hit full boost and you'll be suffering "cam lag" until it winds up a bit. Click "Tar" in my sig for 40 odd pages of turbo K goodness. ;)

What I list!!! ....but if anybody can do it, you can mate. I admire the work you put into your cars! :fuzz: This might help RE bleeding the brakes..... :D

Ah that explain its then. You can clearly see the bungs were the heater hose and A/C hose used to go through the firwall so I was getting a bit confused. I was wondering weather you may have converted the ksev to maybe an AE86 powersteering rack.
-
Simple. Clean. All it needs to be to look good. Is that a power steering pump? I just assumed it was an A/C compressor but just noticed you don't have heater line or A/C line through the firewall.
-
Wet? I was wondering if you were going to run it again after last time at the drags.

I pushed 100rwkw through a K40...... being gentle. One decent clutch dump though and I reckon I would have smashed it to bits. It really just depends on how rough you are with it. As for the diff, from personal experience I reckon you'd be better off with an open centre until you can afford to upgrade to a diff you can put an LSD in. I busted KE55 axles before with an NA 4k, its the weldy that breaks them NOT power. Currently I'm putting around 120-130rwkw through an open 55 diff and its not a problem at all. I know if I put my wleded centre in then I'd bust an axle within a month at least.

Considering your previous thread about calibrating the TPS I think this may be were you problem still lies. By the sound of the calibration is still out and when you're hitting full throttle its clicking the TPS back around to were its should be at idle, hence the fuel map goes cuts back to idle.
-
This is.... ......I didn't say it was a good job though.

I think your first problem could be the availability of replacement 1K parts. Sure you can use a lot of 3k or 4k bits, but I'm sure you'd still need some 1k specific bits like maybe rings and bearings. And like Philbey said the 1k would be a pretty primative motor. If you went to a 4k atleast you have the piece of mind of knowing is basically like a "series 4 K motor" so problematic parts have been updated. Also, going from a 1k to a 4k would be like going from a 12a to a 13b!!! Let alone a 5k.

For All You Keto Lovers! Come And Hate! :d
Taz_Rx replied to Dann_m's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
:fuzz: Yeah it would be a bit front heavy, nothing you could fix with a well sorted front suspesion setup...... but you've still just got that weight there. The torque would be good for drifting with more than twice the capacity of a 4age. Can't really think of any V6 KE70's off the top of my head (although I'm sure they're out there), there is also a couple of V6 KE30/55's here though. Here's one of them..... http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=8849 And just to make you go  here's Nick's next V6 project....... http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=34604 So that just proves anything can be done! Its just a matter of enough time, patience and know how. I would have said coin also but knowing Nick he would have built that whole car for under $5k. -

Sounds like a good question for Jip. He's pulled the air-con out of a few cars so should be able to tell you. :(
