ALL 4agze pistons are ceramic coated. aw11 on left ae92 onwards on the right the cranks, rods etc etc are the same. they are not weaker engines. cure for lower compression is more boost.... from the sounds of it the s/c could be poo. so go turbo afm isnt crapish, just not as powerful in stock form as the map engines.

pull the cam covers off and see what it looks like look into as much of the cooling system as possible. pull the sump off... all depends on how much of a gamble your willing to make... are you intending to rebuild it? is it complete with s/c? are you gunna turbo it?

if your lying on the ground, and don't need to hold on, your probably sober :D

which holden ones? the ones in my 202 were hydrolic as well.\but I'm proud to say om not an holden engine expert

the 5k has hydrolic lifters.. which may hinder cam development... certainly i know of plenty of people who have used a 4k because of the lifters in the 5k...

i think he may be confusing the carbs with twin sidies.... a twin throat weber will work ok, a 2l cortina one maybe a little large... iv got 2, one off a 1600 sport escort and one from a 1300gt, one of those will work ok i reckon. damn its been a long time since i played with carbs.... :D

right after some info to help a fellow enthusiast out for her project... 4k heads. what ones have big ports and higher compression etc? iv heard some engines have high comp pistons and a higher comp head is around too. any ideas? i can check part numbers etc etc but part numbers doesnt tell me port sizes etc! cheers guys :D

hehe i mean look at the engine of a 1930s bugatti.... not just a power plant... its built with love. or the lines of a 60s italian mid engined sports racer.... the g/box and suspension of the same thing...... mmmmmmmmmm :)

ae111 came out with 4afe, 4age ae112 came out with 7afe, for some reason toyota oz decided to turbo the ae112. don't know about the sportivos mumblzzz is talking about. it depends on your outlook.. toyota motor company never made a turbo a series. but one or two country divisons may have. dunno how official it is though.... toyota oz can't even supply a clutch for the ae112 version... i got emailed by a toyota dealer in oz needing one! :)
