  1. http://jnsaustralia.com.au/ Try these guys, short of that Rare Spares should be able to help.
  2. Already had yourself and a couple others in mind for a pm, when i found out.
  3. Sorry I'm late to the party. A proper fire ring setup will cost a bit over the $1k mark once rings made, special copper gasket and block mods are done. I'm organizing mine at the moment. It's way overkill for engines under 13:1 na or under 30psi of boost. I have a contact for custom Multi Layer Steel H/G's but a one off is $360+ plus I will also have a price for a group buy, of arp head studs, by the end of the month. Should be around the $260-280 range with the dollar being so crap. But back to trying to figure out why the H/G blew. How big is your cam? What carbs? What timing do you run? What do the piston crowns look like? A crap tune will do that, so will a bad batch of fuel. A genuine H/G and head studs should be sufficient though. And no, over tightening a head bolt will cause it to snap.
  4. Update time!!! I've come to the conclusion a T50 won't like anti-lag, so when a mate offered me a W50 as payment for throwing his 186 holden 6 together, I grabbed it. I got a good swap deal on a cable w series bell. This will allow me to keep my bigger dia flywheel, any additional surface area the better. So thats the box sorted. On to the engine. I have the TRD head, that has been inspected and given the green light. I bought a set rocker spacers http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/72118-rocker-spacer-offer/page__fromsearch__1 They do look sweet sitting on the head, thanks Gav! The block, had the water jackets acid cleaned, then some form of treatment. Which I'm not going to divulge until the engine is assembled, you're welcome to guess in the meantime. I can't get it machined until I've decided on head gasket. I have the MLS option, but I'm 80% sure I'll go fire rings and a copper gasket. It is a way more expensive option, $800ish but it will help when I lift the head with 30+++psi. Still have zero idea on what I'm doing for a diff yet. I'll worry about it when most of the rest is sorted.
  5. Hunt around brake and clutch shops, I doubt franchise shops(brakes plus etc) or autobarn type places will be able to help.
  6. I searched and couldn't find any thing on here. From memory his youtube acc was "bagtp1" may find something in there.
  7. Just dummy fitted to my TRD head. Fit perfectly, thanks mate.
  8. Aaawwww shucks. In all honesty, I just sweep floors. Haha
  9. If some dumb f%$k is prepared to pay that type of obscene money, they deserve to be ripped off!!!
  10. Looking good Gav! Can't wait to see em.
  11. And should be checked with the engine idling.
  12. Ok trying to keep it short as I'm fishing/camping atm and have little reception. Run-in cam with only the outer valve springs fitted. Stu's spacer suggestion is a good idea, definitely keeps them more stable.
  13. Had a chance to change the valve springs? It could be boost opening the valves enough to loose power. I've seen some E85 engines under 9:1 comp also play similar games. Seem to like more comp to deal the the different burn rate. Could even be the dump pipe size. But in all honesty, given the auto and converter size, thats killer power for the boost.
  14. No problem at all. I could even re-size a +.040" down to +.020". I'll PM you tomoz with some pricing.
  15. Ah fair enough. Just keep on top of your tune and you should be right.
  16. Ever seen what happens to a cast ring that doesn't like boost? They explode and take the ring lands on the pistons with it. Why do you need to go +1mm on the piston anyway?
  17. That won't work for a low comp combo. Doubt you'd get custom for $495 thats less than he charges for off shelf.
  18. The oil ring is borderline, the top two seem to fit(with plenty of back clearance). If you only have to mod the oil ring grooves it would cost f'all and there is still plenty meat behind it. 4age pistons will sit too far down the bore.
  19. I'll have an answer for you this arvo, I found we have a set of std bore in stock. Radial depths are the same no matter the oversize.
  20. I spose you'd call it a parts place. I make custom forged pistons(we also mod pistons), precision are one of our ring suppliers. I will try and give the melb office a call later this arvo, and see if +.060 is available.
  21. I may try to get a set in this week and check it with the factory pistons i have. If they are a deeper radial depth, then that is something that I would easily be able to fix.
  22. It would be rs155060cr4h, you'd have to ring them to see if it's stocked. They do have a website, but don't list by ring size. The trade catalog is really comprehensive and does list by size.
  23. Ok I found it. If you're buying your hypatech pistons from "precision"? then there hastings part number for the rings is RS1552020cr4h for a std bore 5K or RS1552040cr4h for a 1/2mm oversize. They are a honda ringset and it's std bore is 80mm so you need a 1/2mm bigger. The last 3 numbers are the oversize(020=1/2mm, 040=1mm). The cr denotes a chrome ringset. Hope that helps. Stu..
