Thanks mate:) When will your small person be entering the world?

So i've bought a modification! Today i bought 2 seats from a FD rx7 to attempt to shoehorn into this car, see what i'm up for when the turn up next week....people have fit them in mx5s so cant be too bad to make fit.

I've got a new generation of rollaclub coming too ;) Sept 30 for us. Car looks great mate, one of these days ill have another go at aftermarket ecu in the beema, and ill be sure to come around and pick your brain. I just put some narva +50 bulbs in my wifes Forester, certainly a nice improvement for the money.

Quick buy this! http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GENUINE-TOYOTA-2K-3K-4K-COROLLA-FACTORY-ENGINE-SERVICE-WORKSHOP-MANUAL-/391791791290?hash=item5b389c4cba:g:SYoAAOSw7GRZIt6K $35 will save you alot of pain.

In my experience the throttle doesn't make much difference, but you really want all the spark plugs out so the engine spins as fast as possible. You want a good battery too, any slow down of the starter will drastically reduce your readings.

HILUX = too big for daily use i reckon. I sense that our suggestions are falling on deaf ears.... first of all, you need to consider the stud pattern. A hilux is 5 stud yes? so do you want 4 stud wheels on the front and 5 stud wheels on the back? Hilux has been done a number of times, but usually they convert to 4 x 114.3 to match the front, or they convert the front to match the hilux diff. So either way you are up for a set of wheels, or modifications to axles. We put a YR22 torago differential into a mates CA18det ae86 years ago. the yr22 diff is an F series diff , which is the same as the altezza and some old supra i think (youll have to research), and 4 x 114.3 already. To give you an idea on how much it costs, diff from a junk yard - $400, Custom mounts to make it bolt in $300, custom 1 piece tailshaft - $400, aftermarket LSD KAAZ - $1200, Setup costs of the LSD into the housing and setup the gears - $300 Add it all up and not much change from $3000 just for the rear differential. also note you want to put in an aftermarket differential ONCE with whatever the most powerful engine is already in the car. Tail shafts are not cheap.

Presumably you are confident on your camshaft timing? Perhaps some oil down each spark plug hole and a re-test will ensure its actually rings?

Cheers fellas! Of course the wife has already got a big long list of renos! though i must admit im looking forward to some renos. I dont mind painting, quite a rewarding job. I realized recently that we haven't had our own place to live since the end of 2014....1 and a bit yrs in Canada and 1.5yrs at wifes mums house. Looking forward to all our stuff in our own house and not moving it for quite sometime.... Actually i do have some news on the e30. Just ordered all new shifter bushes for the gearstick, about 6 different items from BMW Brisbane, for the bargain price of $37. Every time i go to BMW to get parts i am not only amazed that they still have them, but also at the very reasonable prices. get them on Saturday, might get a chance to put them in this weekend:)

Well thats a bummer! You sure the values are real? Although not entirely perfect they are within the ball park of being close together. have you used your compression gauge on other engines with success? how long has the engine being sitting? my old 4age that i bought from little red spirit had been sitting for years and years. Terrible compression results at first, but they came good after some running, and gave me like 5 years of service. Great looking car by the way, will be worth the tribulations. I have managed to avoid doing rings or bearings in all my engines, I am actually looking forward to it if i ever need to. I might even rebuild a spare BMW engine just for fun, and prove i can do it, before i actually NEED to do it:P

hahahha well played sir well played. Is that book you are scanning the yellow toyota k motor book? ive got one of them somewhere, great book.

But what if its for an M4 Sherman tank? do you have the torque specs then parrot?
-
Also keep in mind mechanical sympathy will determine if you break stuff or not. Sr20det as a daily drive with road tyres a few squirts for fun, a borg warner diff will hold up for ages and people have. An sr20det witb 300mm wide drag slicks and a 6000rpm clutch dump? Youll break anything short of a 9". To build an sr20det powered ke70 properly you are looking at alot of money even if you can diy fabricate. And unless you spend the cash a 5k s13 will be better in everyway.

Welcome welcome, What country are you from mate? AE110 you say. That the bug eye one with the 7afe? My wife had an 2001 corolla for quite a few years. great car. We did nothing to it but change oil and tyres. just kept on truckin'. Talk about dependable. Feel free to start a members ride thread and post up some photos. This forum was traditionally for the older corollas (70s and 80s) however as time goes on 90s and 2000s corollas are starting to appear as they are becoming old enough to become enthusiasts cars. I think i've been here for about 10yrs now, and some others who are still around were before me. Id like to think rollaclub has a nice small group of somewhat mature members who stick around.

Sooooo no news on the e30. However.....I bought a house! More importantly what i really bought is a double garage that has rooms and a kitchen above it to keep the wife happy. Quit a good sized garage with a sort of a built in bit on the side of the underneath of the house, was previously used as a bit of a man cave. So let the real projects begin. I can finally unpack all my workshop tools that are in storage. First port of call i think is going to be painting a spare guard, door and bonnet to replaced the dented ones. Then perhaps onto some more performance orientated things. Has a huge backyard, so i might look at buying a parts car to get the panels, then i can use the parts car as trial runs for my fabrication ideas..... Wont be for a few months yet, however i can still buy parts and plan. We get the house keys on the 13th June and we have some painting to do before we move in.

I remember years ago some guys over at AE86dc got the quads to run on a bigport ecu, but i dont think they ever got it to run properly.

Standard air filters have a port for the breather from the crank case to go into. The air from your breather/crank case is then sucked into the engine via the oem air filter. Also remember that the air that comes out of the crank case is oily air. Most aftermarket filters dont have the provision for the crank case breather, so people put the catch cans on. Its also possible that the catch can is full of oil, have you ever emptied it? Given you already have that air filter, perhaps pull the catch can appart, clean the inside and put it back together and see how it goes. you will have to monitor it and clean it out as required.
-
Ahhh i suspect the reason the catch can was put in place is cause of that aftermarket air filter.

Blow by is essentially combustion pressure getting outside the combustion chamber by any way other than when the exhaust valve opens. Usually in older engines this is caused by rings that are worn and letting combustion pass, though it can be caused by leaking valvese.. Remember you will also ways have some small amount of blow by as rings aren't a perfect seal (which is why there is a crank case breather, but it should be quite minimal on a good condition engine. With the engine running, pop your oil cap off and feel how much air comes out. Best case at idle it is minimal, i have had engines that have so much blow by that when you take the oil cap off they just about stall. Also if it were me, id put the crank case ventilation back to stock and get rid of that catch can thing. if you have that much blow by you are better off burning it rather than trying to contain it.

I had Toyo T1rs on my s15 silvia yrs ago, great tyre. though fairly expensive compared to what you can get these days. The weight of a ke70 lends itself to a more performance oriented tyre as it does wear out tyres very quick. Something like a federal 595-rsr is very good and quite cheap compared to the toyo option. A 195 50 R15 595 rsr was only about 120bucks last time i looked. the toyos would be closer to 200?

Assuming it is standard I reckon it is either an S series differential or a T series differential. Its definitely not a borgwarner diff. An S series will have 8 bolts holding the diff housing onto the axle housing, a T series will have 10 bolts holding the diff housing to the axle housing. The bolts i'm referring to are quite difficult to see in your photo i think there are 8? Though being overseas it could be anything.....can we get a photo of your built plate on the firewall of the car? this will say what diff it is also, assuming it hasn't been changed.
-
What diff does it have? What country are you in? The gineric drift suspension is 8k front, 6kg rear springs, short stroke shocks to suit. which on a ke70 is not easy to do with the front struts as finding shorter shocks is difficult, although unsure what country you are in, perhaps you can find something that fits. Lock the diff, get a small steering wheel, and pray for rain!

How do electric fuel pumps work for a 3K?
ke70dave replied to CorollaNut68's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
If it were me id try and get another mechanical pump, like suggested they wprk forever and if you get one it will last another 40years. Although the ethanol destroying pumps is something i had not considered. If you go the electrical route i agree woth all suggestions made in regards to safety. Mamy people just run a suitable low pressure pump off ignition power fine, however it really should have the safety cut offs built in. -
That thing lools awesome.

very very nice. 6yrs in the making. must be good to get a long project up and running.

So a standard bigport ecu running quad throttles? How did you connect your map sensor?
