Oh and that incentive is on top of a weekly tool allowance, and a $900(?) yearly 'Tools For Your Trade' bonus. So even though you might get paid less as an apprentice, you still do get a bit back in extra things. And having your own tools is a good feeling. :blinks:

Spot on about the Building trades. I am a 3rd year Joiner/Cabinet maker and whilst I am getting paid award wages by my boss, the government is trying to do their bit to keep me in the industry, by giving me like $2000 extra incentive a year. It's not only my trade that gets it, but alot of other low interest Building trades. I know everywhere is different, but, just because you are a first year, doesn't mean you will get treated like shit and be on a broom all the time. I think alot of it has to do with your own initiative (if that is the word). Show your boss you are keen to learn NEW things and that you want to be more than a broom bitch and 'gofa'. Example is at my place of work. One guy, just finished his 1st year. Still knows f@$k all and doesn't get shown anything new because he has ZERO interest in anything, and just mopes around doing boring, mind numbing work. Where, another of our 1st years, in his 2nd month already knows the same, if not more than him, because he puts himself out there and is wanting to learn stuff. Rambling aside, everyone will experience their apprenticeship differently. I say good luck to you in what ever way you go! A trade is always something you will be able to fall back on in the future :blinks:

Thats what I think it was.... Could be wrong, may have been $270 for the manifold and $130 for the linkage kit. But yeah, was a little while ago when I bought them, and my memory isn't the greatest
-
Most badass thing I have seen. You sir are a madman for having the balls to even try ride that! Good work though
-
I have a Redline Manifold which was ordered through Repco IIRC. Was $170 or there abouts. Linakges were another $230 ontop of that too.

To be honest mate, I have no idea! I couldn't find any brands/names on them, only just a small 13 x 6 stamped on the outside hub mounting face. I have seen a fair few sets getting about, so I'd image they are probably just some generic ROH/Cheviot rim. Someone else may know though

Does it turn over at a constant speed though just doesn't fire? Or is it actually just not cranking over at a constant/steady speed? I'd be leaning away from too much fuel pressure, though that's not to say it isn't the case. I have had twin 40s on my car for over 6 months now with the standard mechanical fuel pump and havn't had any problems. If it had started and ran before, I'd be putting money on a dud starter motor/battery or along those lines.

Believe me when I say, they were a VERY tight fit. 13" can fit. But, not alot of types will. Save the hassle and go with > 13".

and/or Shifter? Fallen victim to not removing the shifter before :S

Not trying to stir anything up but more just a question regarding what you have said there. Would the baffle be classed as non-removable as it is actually fixed into the exhaust system? I mean, the only way it can be removed is if you unbolt the flanges and drop it out, so in which case, wouldn't any legal muffler/silencer be classed the same? What's stopping you from rocking up to the test with a say stock rear section of a standard exhaust system, then, getting it passed and swapping it out for straight pipes? :lolcry: I am probably wrong, but yeah, just something that was on my mind :lolcry:

Alright thanks heaps guys. Makes me feel a fair bit more relaxed, now that I know it is a common, normal issue. Whilst I can put up with it, I was more getting sick of people asking what it was, or was it turbo. But yeah good to know what it is now! Appreciate the fast replies guys too. :) I guess if anyone does have any other light to shed about it, feel free to post it up. More info here the better!

I agree with Hiro's last comment. I was recently in Sydney doing a fit out in one of the Maccas stores in the drive through area, and seriously, I couldn't believe some of the things that customers were saying/arguing about as they came to the window. People complaining and abusing staff because their 2 Large Angus meals with extra meat etc SEEMED to be too expensive. In one of the days work, I'd say the manager(s) were called in to assist atleast 20 times.

Haha I've been meaning to post this for months to be honest, but didn't want to sound like a fool asking it :) Yeah I really wasn't sure what the cause of it is, but yes, it is definitely throttle position related. I'm not so worried about it being a problem, but it can get a little annoying cruising around town with it as most of my driving is done with a light foot. (Honestly!) I just wanted some other peoples input as to whether or not it is a common problem, and if there is anything that can be done to stop it :y: Atleast I am not the only one so far with it, so it makes me feel a bit better :y: If you can check your Dellorto book Philbey, that would be greatly appreciated! I used to have a copy of the tuning book when I was building the carbies, but have since returned it to its owner so don't have access to one now.

Hello, I have this question that has been in my mind for quite a while now (since running twin DHLAs) and thought I might actually as here if anyone has information about it. Basically, when I apply light throttle there is a whistle sound that comes from the carbies. If I open the taps right up, it stops but as soon as I take my foot of (round 0-50% throttle), the whistle is constant. I had a listen to each of the throats with a bit of hose, and it seems to come from all four. Now I was wondering if this is a normal sound with side drafts, or could it be something more...serious ;) ) I have heard a couple of varying stories, yet I really would just like other peoples thoughts, especially from the like of the guys who have been running side drafts for many years :( In particular, DHLA40s. I have heard that the whistle is caused by air rushing through the gap between the butterflies and the throat of the carbie, thus whistling, and I have also heard something along the lines of it being Dellorto specific due to some difference with the setup running on other cars than what they originally were from- 2Ltr Alfa. Both of these do sound like legit reasons, but if anyone could shed some light into what it may be, that would be great. Being that it appears to be across all four ports, it make me seem less inclined to think that it is a vacuum leak, but yeah, I may be wrong. ;) Any help would be great  Thanks, -Alex *edit: Can also get a video if anyone wants to hear.

Oh, I see the problem. Your camera's date settings seem to incorrect. Maybe try go through the camera settings to change them to the correct time/date?

Why can't life be as simple as all of 7Shades posts?! If I was in the market for a family car, I would do away with most of the grand ideas in my head and just go with something that is the safest option for myself and family. Whether it be Holden, Ford, BMW etc, I'd be happy with something comfortable, safe and in my price range! Though, all this is IF, so until it ever happens, I guess I'm not 100% on any make of model

Reduction gear starters are the greatest things ever! Best $200 I ever spent when I did my new engine. I would highly recommend replacing the one you have now with a reduction gear item :no2:

"dodgy" Mods Youve Done To Your Car
bLinded_ replied to Evan G's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
Wow..Just wow :hmm: That is the most awesome/dodgiest turbo manifold I have seen! I hope that it works once you get it all running. :jamie: -
Buy an S13. Cheap, Easy, Reliable power and will handle better .
-
Not sure on this, But, is there a way to have an alibi on the day? Like if you were at work/somewhere else at the time the fine was issued, thus not being you in the car?

Posted speed limit is a "safe" speed for normal road conditions. If one feels that they arn't comfortable with doing the speed limit and must sit below it (eg. Old guy above), sure drive slower, but do it in the left lane, as to let people through who are travelling faster (above or on speed limit). People who sit below the speed limit and bank traffic up, should be in left hand lane, it is general courtesy. And as for not costing a great deal of time. Some people have to drive >30mins each day to work. If you get stuck behind a bastard doing 10km/h less in the right lane, and a truck in the left lane doing the same speed, for say 10 minutes of the trip, you may then just get stuck at a set of lights, which then takes another few minutes, but then you may also miss the next set, and so on, so forth. Just because it doesn't seem like much, it can very much turn a normal trip into a pain in the arse. Left lane is for slow drivers. Right is for fast. General knowledge for most, and it make traffic flow faster, and safer. Obviously sitting below the limit is acceptable if you are driving to different conditions (Fog, Rain, heavy traffic etc etc) but I am assuming the above scenario was on a normal day. Which bring me to: WGMG- People who sit in the "fast" lane and sit well below the limit on normal conditions, just because they can. Inconsiderate pricks. Left lane is there for you, use it, not that hard.

Hmm...Good points. Worth doing such an engine conversion just for those alone...
