  1. hahah. Kerfuffle. But at least we drew the facts out! Yeh, shot peening good idea. Very good idea....
  2. I'm running the Permaseal, and my heads are portmatched to my manifold.
  3. preheat and postheat the diff will give you your best results. Interestingly enough, the engine builder I use has a nice home made oven for welding Cast Iron heads and Blocks. They just built a box out of bricks with no lid and they have 3 of those portable camping ring burners in the bottom. They let it bake before welding and once they're done they just shut off a burner every 15 minutes to slowly lower the temperature.
  4. have you had the carby jetted and tuned?
  5. yeh that's nuts. Saw the pics ages ago, I'm glad the whole build has been posted!
  6. although carb might be on the lean side? Also, if its a KE10, the two cast reinforcing brackets that run from the lower half of the bell housing to the bottom of the block will foul the steering drag link.
  7. I think you'll find that highly alkaline paint strippers will be more damaging for the aluminium.
  8. The load is taken by friction between the wheel and the hub. Hubcentrics just mean that you get the wheel centred properly.
  9. Oh, we wont. Don't worry about that.
  10. City Dismantlers probably do it and should have an immediate approval, "finance the purchase using your kidneys as collateral" loan arrangement to pay for it too. It won't take that long for a good engine builder to do a K engine head. I dropped mine off on a saturday morning and it was ready by monday lunchtime.
  11. Maybe make a subforum for it? Let the kids have their playpen sort of thing? Just let them run amok, any that slip past the keeper into the legitimate sale section just get deleted (not even moved!) I hate them. It's tyrekicking, but for the seller not the buyer.
  12. Guys, I've been offline for a few weeks... Just moved house and had to get me net connection changed over. Let me just praise Telstra's prompt installation and customer-focused service. Anyway, I've bought a house and on the cards is a nice sized shed. I was wondering if anyone has had a Hoist installed in their shed, as I'm looking at designing around putting one in (in the long run). Especially given you can get them new for around $4k installed If so show me pics. Also, what roof height did you design for, as that will drive what shed I get!
  13. I've found nothing but a few dodgy coins and generally no jacks..... Damn. There's a long long post on a US car forum about people finding drugs stashed in their cars, it's pretty crazy. People telling stories about finding half a kilo of cocaine stashed in seats and stuff! A number of people were adamant that they always strip down cars they buy to check for drugs! nuts.
  14. damn man, the dude who owned it told me he'd never sell it or the wheels. Otherwise I would have bought it. Where did it sell?
  15. Plus if you're running the risk of bending a radiator core, the cheaper, easily accessible option (factory copper) would be the go!
  16. I did the same search when I first saw these on Ebay, no luck either. To me they look like bike carbs modified for use as a throttle body. The cover plates on the bottom look like they are blanking off where the diaphragm is supposed to go for carbs. whoever buys it needs to get a bunch of info from the seller. I'd love to see this setup with twins~!
  17. These pics?
  18. Yeh the whole car looks shopped. To the point that it looks like a celica, not a corolla! :)
  19. Dellorto parts are tricky to get if you're in Aus, but yohann is in israel I belive? You can get almost any dellorto part from www.dellorto.co.uk, you may find this is a better oprion for you?
  20. Sounds awfully like a dead alternator to me. Like med man said, the fact that it drains overnight would indicate that you've got dead diodes, and secondly, if your lights are dim at idle then almost certainly your alternator isn't putting out enough grunt.
  21. Rob you'll probably find that the water build up is just from standard, everyday running. Water is a byproduct of clean combustion and inevitably some moisture ends up in the crank case. It doesn't usually cause issues because it's such a low amount that it just evaporates. In your case, it evaporates then condenses in your catch can.
  22. Keep in mind that you could buy a secondhand box and find it does the same thing too.
  23. Backfiring through the carb usually signifies running lean. Is the carby rebuilt, jetted correctly etc? I'd get it to a dyno tuner. It will be the money well spent.
  24. Actually, copper has a higher thermal conductivity that Aluminium so it should, in theory, dump heat faster than an Aluminium one. BUT, copper does have a higher specific heat so it will heat "soak" more, which is why it's no good as an intercooler.
