  1. There are a couple of specialist instrument companies I know of, but being 20,000km away they're not much good for you. I reckon you would have a good chance of finding one, look for someone who specialises in instruments for the hot rod scene. Lots of those guys will run 70 year old gauge setups in their cars.
  2. Interesting. My aftermarket ACl dish pistons were about 8-9cc, that's the only reason I asked. With a dished piston head they were about 12:1 comp.
  3. Whysmee, no need to get stuck into him. Keep it impersonal please.
  4. If you've got a cranky old k that uses oil and has a few leaks, just stick with 20w50. Otherwise the leaks will get worse and your burn just got more expensive.
  5. Why did you ring vicroads, they can't tell you anything about registering it in SA. You will need to contact DTEI and ask them. You will need an inspection done and there's a good chance they will issue you with a statement of requirements. There is a form you can fill out that you fill in the details of the modifications and they respond with criteria you need to meet. I suspect you will have a hard time, but thats heresy until you call them.
  6. I was going to tell you how to change your sig, but I just did it for you haha. Mod power abuse? click your profile button up top, then on your profile page is an "edit my profile" button.
  7. All boxes, 4 speed, 5 speed and Toyoglide are the same length. The only difference is the output shaft splines, I believe there are 3 different types. Simply get the front yoke and then get it swapped at a driveshaft joint. Rebuild the uni's while it's there.
  8. Those tyres can also be damn expensive to purchase, depending on the sizes. I doubt you'll get them to fit over the brakes and they'll likely clash on the strut. Although It would be cool. Post pics.
  9. Oh I hear you man, i'm a mechanical engineer, I don't trust anything that I can't see moving. Like electrons.... But there's no stopping progress! When you think about it, plenty of mums and grandmas have been buying corollas for 40 years, no real surprise I spose.
  10. Really? I have a ke55 box in my auto wags and even though the hole lined up I still had to open it up.
  11. Did you. Us from a store? Just take them back, otherwise you should have no issue grinding down the spacer. I wouldn't gut the gland nut.
  12. I'll swing down for a geez. Although meeting people I know from the internets creeps me out.
  13. the AFM itself will create turbulence. I wouldn't worry about that too much. Yes there is a lot of science in inlet piping. Mathematic stuff as you call it. If you're only worrying about upstream of the AFM, then you need not get complicated. A decent (expensive) pod filter will probably breathe better than your airbox. You want to be drawing in cold air, not hot air. Often people fit a pod then build a big box around it designed to draw cold air in.
  14. you should be able to get studs through Coventry Fasteners
  15. Haha good O. Loads of people slap on a carb and wonder why it doesnt run correctly. I was of the same mind, fiddled and tweaked, balanced my carbs as best I could but they are the emissions Dellorto's that don't have all the vacuum ports so I just chucked it to the dyno tuner. locked 20 degrees though, that mus really come on cam strong. I never recurved mine and it could benefit from it. Plan is to fit an MSD with adjustable curve control.
  16. Buy a 5K. Run the ACL pistons, you can get 20 40 and 60 thou oversize, although only go bigger if you need to. It'll likely be cheaper this way in the long run, and you can build the motor and then swap it over in a day. You don't need forgies, you'll spend more on the forgies than you will on the engine build.
  17. jetting isnt tuning though. Get it on the dyno and get it sorted out.
  18. don't laugh. A good mate of mine is converting a car to steam power. 300kw, instant torque. It will blow socks off.
  19. do it. I've got a couple planned. DIY - painting garage floor DIY - Wiring up VSD to Lathe sometime this decade.
  20. man CA's are good, I had a bluebird with a warm CA18 the thing used to scream. I don't like nissan a whole lot but theyre a good enough little motor.
