ive always had mine done the old fashioned way.
heat gun and rubber mallet
never had any problems with cracking paint, even with the old paint on one of my past cars.
edit: IMO top 1/3 is all thats needed, as said it helps keep the guards shape
the amount of wannabe cyclists in Adelaide atm
and the amount of idiot cyclists riding at 530am (still dark) without bike lights! i feel like hitting them to teach them a lesson.
asap, its almost been a months since ive driven it!
probably another month off being ready tho, by time i do all the suspension, front brakes, gearbox xmember, exhaust, stereo and guages
your on the money scott, had been shortened to suit a S1/2 RX7. So ive just cut the mounts off and will be sending both diffs (hilux and stock) down to get the KE20 mounts welded on. Piss easy and means i can retain the same stud pattern and finally use those wheels i bought off you AGES ago :P
good work on with the diff, ive just finished cut/grinding off the old mounts on my hilux.
My diff is 1415 wide, almost 100mm wider than stock but the wheels i bought for the rear AGES ago have a very positive offset. Ended up working out perfectly, diff width and wheel offfset makes perfect fitment for the 7inch wide rims. sometimes your just lucky.
got a bit more time to post on here now so...
had the day off work so spent the day cleaning up the shed and driveway. Then worked on the car for a while.
Fitted a fire extinguisher
Removed the front brake backing plates off the spare struts i have ready to bolt on the bigger brakes
Order some new pedders rear shocks, which should be here by tomorow. Shocks are "comfort gas" but are in fact 15% stiffer than monroe GT's
AND THE HILUX ARRIVED!
only had enough time to degrease it today but tomorow ill start grinding off the old mounts and hopefully take it down to get the new mounts by the end of the week.
that would of been Duj, who i believe just signed up on the forums today! username JUD
Tis a very nice car, only 74000K's, hes planning on putting a 2J in it : )
i had a H/D one in one of my cars, for the way it engaged you might as well go a cushioned button clutch. Plus the fact it slipped. Goodluck getting a replacement from them if your clutch is faulty as well........
But then as previously mentioned for a low-medium HP car i suppose they are the best option. I suppose i didnt really take that into account when posting, sorry.
IMO a cushioned button clutch is a better option and allows for engine upgrades without the need to upgrade the clutch again. I would rather do things right the first time. So it really depends what plans you have for the car in the future.
