  1. You'll probably get loads of conflicting advice but I would say just go bigport as its less stuffing around. Simply because they came in rwd format and so you don't have to worry about modding manifolds to adapt or water pumps or anything. They're both good fun and plenty reliable although the smallport is a better design and has quite a bulletproof bottom end. Though the late aus and jap bigports had the same 7 rib bottom end also. They're just a little harder to come by. A lot of either of these engines could probably use a freshening up due to high kms. So yeah if you can be bothered adapting it then the smallport is the better engine generally and will be slightly faster, but if you can't then a bigport should satisfy you fine.
  2. Helps when other people show up lol. Levin_ae92 and I just went for a drive in his car by ourselves after no one showed at CDV :jamie: I swapped my hub in in time but had air getting into my brake lines from somewhere *sob*
  3. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I hate the person who designed brake lines :jamie: I'm pretty sure the fasteners on them are made from the softest material known to man.
  4. Ugh... I'm really sorry to back out last minute. I had every intention of coming but as I was bleeding my brakes the other day I discovered a leak and a bunch of air in my lines that have rendered my car basically scary and undriveable. I'm going to be paranoid driving to the mechanics next week let alone all the way out to Elizabeth from Blackwood. Sorry again :jamie:
  5. play backgammon :no2:
  6. If I can't get my new hub in then I'll steal a ride with levin :no2:
  7. Hey man, you forgot the bov and to leave me money when you came around today :no2:
  8. So is this happening? If you'd like to pm your address it might help :no2:
  9. replacement is sitting here waiting for you man :D
  10. DUDE! it sounds like a bucket but IT RUNS! its all up hill from here. Congratulations! :D

The 3t in the t18 is still there as well as pretty much all of the others (I think). They're moving the South yard around the corner though because of the desal plant so apparently all the stock will be scrapped after they shut this coming Sunday. So yeah time to get a move on if anyone's interested. They're open normal hours tomorrow too even with the holiday.
  12. fantastic work mate! seems like you're really getting the hang of things :blinks:
  13. Well I don't know anything about shed building, but I'm big and can lift stuff so if you want me then I'd be glad to help :hmm:
  14. Personally I wouldn't say pedders were anything amazing either... Rear swaybars are one of the best mods you can do on a fwd. What shocks are you running? They make a massive difference to handling and also the way car rides generally. Front strut bars are good too if your car never had one.
  15. Hi Ian! Would you like to tell us more about whats happening with your 2 door project car? Welcome to the forum. :P
  16. Anyway next year I reckon we should make it decent if they go to the trouble of holding it again. Going out there this year just made me want to hassle everyone I know with a decent yota to get out there and represent. I was talking to the guys there from the ae82oc, although were smaller than some other groups out there I think we could well have our own display of at least 5 or so cars.
  17. I agree with Valandor. It was a dismal turn out but what you said Luke reads like you're saying there was better cars in a carpark than in the show and that going was a waste of your time is still pretty disrespectful IMO. If you just meant you saw a car that deserved to be out in the show later on that day by chance then that's how you should say it. Was good to see all the familiar faces down there and have a chat to some other enthusiasts. Cheers to all the people who set up the rollaclub stand and didn't mind my group steeling your chairs and shade for a while :) Also to whoever's mexican hats that stopped me getting quite as burnt as my friends did ;) I do hope they run it again next year as I'd hope my car will be ready to enter as well as encouraging some others I know to get out there as well.
  18. I'm sorry but that still seems ridiculously expensive. For that price I'd be working over your engine, putting on a 4age head, getting a ceramic kelway manifold and a t28 or something and making oodles more power than you are now... Does this not seem like a large price for anyone else? I'm not trying to be a smart ass here but I would hate to see you get ripped off... :hmm:
  19. Sorry wait wtf? its going to cost 4 grand to replace your turbo manifold?! Did I not read something right? :hmm:

Yeah just poking fun and being an ass |blink|
  21. Yeah not bad ;) Twas a good day out and a nice drive. Still it could have been made just a little better with some more people and some replaced steering bushes :D
  22. Oh dude you hurt me lol. There's only a teency difference in power if you go by toyotas overstated power figures. If you go by dyno figures you'll see the blacktops pull consistently better numbers than the silvertops. The silver top is the first attempt at a 20v and the blacktop was actually making it good. Bench flow testing shows the real differences. The silvertop barely flows any better than a 16v smallport, where as the blacktop is miles ahead, making it a better option for both NA and forced induction scenarios. Apparently the difference in flow doesn't make a huge difference in stock 20v's though because there is only so much sucking that a 1.6 will need to do. There's a reason behind the price gap. The blacktop has higher comp, better shaped and better flowing ports, larger throttle bodies, better designed plenum chambers/trumpets, its map not afm so you can run open trumpets if you wish, blacktops have slightly more lift on their inlet cams etc. My only criticism having ridden in cars with both is that the blacktops can complain a bit when cold and all the power is made way up top, where as silvertops feel like they have bit more usable torque. But the silvertops will run out of breathe before the blacktops do obviously. Bill Shewood's site also does a good write up on the 4age's and how to mod them as well as the aforementioned site ;)

Could have been, did it have an RAA van parked in front of it? Spotted these guys at windy point on Sunday. Apparently according to female onlookers, the drivers were all as sexy as they were brilliant ;)
