  1. Mmmmm shiny. Where's all the rust gone? which way did you go with 4AGE engine mounts?
  2. No, but the spring pushes the hat against the strut top. Locking the strut top enables you to put some oomph into turning the nut without worrying about trying to stop the complete strut twisting on the floor. If you are chucking the inserts, you can hold them however you like.
  3. Lie the strut on the floor and put a bar between two of the strut top studs with the other end on the floor to lock the strut top. Then try to undo the nut. More often than not it will undo. don't be tempted to put vise grips or what not onto the piston rod. Worse case scenario then yes you will need a rattle gun. Make sure whatever you do that your foot, or car is not in the direction the strut top will go when the nut comes off...... Spring compressors are very cheap to buy and just make things easier when reassembling, assuming you have standard height springs to go back in.
  4. Seriously, I reckon no more gaps would work well. Just used about 4 tubes of it on my house.
  5. Surprised you haven't seen this, thorough as only Toymods can be
  6. The reason is that the speedo drive in the gearbox needs to be the correct ratio for your speedo. If you unscrew the speedo cable from the gearbox, and undo the 10ml bolt holding the little plate, you can pull out the speedo drive. This is a rod with a plastic gear on the end. For a 4AGE T50, from memory there are 19, 21 and 22 tooth gears. Inside the box is the gear this meshes with, either a 5 or 6 tooth. You need to mix and match to suit your application. Jonny Rochester wrote up a thread on this on ae86drivingclub, including how to calculate what combination you need. Then you need to locate the gear you need. Also from memory, the K gearbox has a larger diameter plastic gear so you can't just pop that in instead. Search for the thread on ae86dc or PM Jonny for the link.
  7. I had a bit of a think about the oil pressure sender for the gauge, and got one out of a 18RC powered Corona at pickies. Some of the higher spec Jap built cars had oil pressure gauges. I would be very surprised if it wasn't the same as a 2TG item. Also got one out of an Isuzu Bellet before I found the Corona.
  8. There was a complete AE82 twincam bigport at Centre Rd on Sunday. Also 3 KE30's amongst the usual KE70 AE71 AE82 dross.... Nothing earlier.
  9. I reckon I might have bumped into your dad a few months ago at pickapart Kilsyth whilst I was raping the shit out of a burnt orange KE20. ' He was telling me about his son who had about "100" Corollas in the backyard!
  10. Don't worry, they are not your ones. Story is he has another set. "The one you bidded on has been paid for and sent already but I have another set of the center gauges as well as the tach and speedometer." Be interesting to see what colour the gauges are and the Km limit
  11. I got a centre console out of an old Mitsu Lancer that looks like it may go well, it comes in an auto version too. Haven't tried it yet though, not game to get under the tarp!
  12. The guy just sent me a second chance offer on both items. Have asked for some photos so shall see what they look like. What did he charge you for post on both by the way?
  13. My white 1973 KE25 is color code 007 - seriously. Couldn't see that on the list you posted.
  14. And if you are not going the LSD route, why not just get Tayell to do it for you? It isn't expensive, and you will know it has been done right.
  15. Not sure how well these will come out, but they are 'period' shots. If you click on the actual photo, they show larger. If you look close, you can see the tacho on the inside shot despite reflection from the window. Big mother of a thing. Note the bullet style side mirror? This is an SL (from other photo's) by the way Handsome young fellow wasn't he........
  16. I suspect you are referring to Tayell Automotive. From the FAQ "Limited Slip (without changing housing) Yes, there is a limited slip center that bolts into a Corolla housing, they were used in American KP Starlets. Sometimes you can find them in 4.1 or 4.3 ratio, more often than not they are the ridiculously low 2.928. Option1Garage on the Gold Coast import these for around $880. There are also people who "make" a sortof limited slip conversion, one such company in America is Phantom Grip. Tayell Automotive in Bentleigh East (Vic) advertise a similar service for around $250."
  17. Because they hardly grow on trees. No need for the others to be unsightly.
  18. I reckon it is worth the a go. And it appeals to my way of doing things. I might keep a look out at pickapart for a cheap cluster.
  19. Yeah that's the one I'd like to get. The one on ebay was wood grain though it did have the extra guage in the centre. My dads KE20 he bought years ago brand new from AMI in Melbourne, had a tacho mounted on the top of the dashpad.
  20. The AE86 one is roughly 100 pages. But it is only a photocopy and the photos have not come up so good. If you are interested, I could look into scanning it. When I scanned up the Toyota factory 4AGE Electrical Diagnosis Manual plus EWD books for Euro/Aus and also the USDM book, (hosted on aeu86.org) some c*$t in the US started selling the exact scan (with my annotations) on US ebay! Not happy. Try to help people out and someone ends up charging people for the info you worked to provide for free. Take a more jaundiced view after that.
  21. And I have a set for an AE86
  22. Yeah, a mate who works there says spare parts a few years ago had a clean up and threw out any information for the older models including TA22, no respect.
  23. They are always good at the blow off there. I'll go back with the part numbers. Curious to see if they have the c pillar exterior vents, front guard garnish's (late) and a 74 grille badge. Would be very surprised, but you never know. Will also go see the guy at Camberwell instead who has been quite helpful previously.
  24. Out of interest, popped into Melb City Toyota today to enquire about a few exterior trim bits for the KE25. Believe it or not, the EPC only goes as far back as KE30 series. The parts guy denies that they even keep the fiche for Ke2x anymore. Maybe he was to lazy to dig out the microfiche reader. Supposedly some dealers still do. I think I got the 'f@$k off it's too hard' response However I may be able to order parts off my USDM fiche if I take them the part numbers..... although probably no longer available. Must say though, my previous experience at Melb City with AE86 parts and amazingly on two separate occasions when buying new cars led me to expect this response, unfortunately they are close to work. I think in future I will just go there to buy plugs and oil filters.....
