Blown engine, lots missing, you would have to be real keen. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOYOTA-SPRINTER-EX-WORKS-RALLY-CAR-AE86-COROLLA-TE71-/170800559748?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item27c481b684

I could be interested in guards, but not at the moment, so not much good to your starting arrangement. Will depend a lot on what I find when I pull them off. Realistically, if they can be encouraged to put in the effort to make the molds, they shouldn't have any trouble making a few bob out of it. Just need to encourage them to make KE20 guards too

Rotors you can buy from RDA. Let me know if you need the part number, and these bolt to an ADM hub. Calipers your best getting from Japan. Takumi tax is a killer here.
-
I want flares! And I'm jealous. Perhaps I should do my TE27 next, but silverra23 would kill me..... How much room did you end up with inside the strut tower?
-
Subaru gave me a bottle to stick in the tank a couple of months after it's 6 months service. who knows why, anyway I poured it in. If you get them professionally cleaned off the car, they will give you new seals and vibration seats which is a good idea. Old rubber seats will be shagged.

I put up with a non baffled tank with intank pump for ages, but got fed up with surge on lowish tank volumes. Eventually gave in and picked up an AE86 GT tank really cheaply on yahoo. By the time it got here via container with importmonster it set me back $140 in total. Fortunately it was in good nick and not rusted internally.

What he said. Also there are two different alternator pulley sizes. Most likely, assuming your engine is a local AE82 bigport, you will need a 5PK830. If you have a later alternator with the larger pulley, you need a 5PK840. But yes you need to work out the alignment issues first. With respect to your diff, search on here.

PM me your email address and I'll send you a pdf.

Hopefully they took it to get home, and it will turn up somewhere. Doesn't sound like a parts donor.

I have a pretty good idea where you live after picking up that bootlid from you. But you can rest assured it wasn't me! Has anyone else picked up from you? Pretty brazen act from anyone on here though I would have thought. As above, would imagine it pretty unlikely someone happened across it. More likely someone has noticed your car and "investigated"? There is a fairly transient population in your street. Don't want to make you paranoid or anything, but would probably pay to make sure your car is theft proof.

Ahh, in that case the T series LSD won't bolt in, it's a 10 bolt 6.7 inch compared to your 8 bolt 6.38 inch. If you want to go LSD you will have to convert a T series axle to suit, which may mean narrowing the housing and relocating the spring hanger mounts. S series LSD's are super rare. There was a guy in Australia who had a genuine TRD S series centre for sale a while back. Not sure if it ever sold.
-
Excellent. Essentially, be aware that a T series diff head will bolt straight into your existing housing. You need to bear in mind that the AE86 diff centre came in a small & large axle version, and that you will need a small axle version. Search around and there is plenty of info about that on the net. You may need to have your axles shaved slightly. You can't simply bolt in a whole AE86 disc brake rear (for example) as they are wider than your existing housing and have trailing arm mounts instead of leaf spring mounts.
-
Go onto 3tcgarage and buy a complete rear end out of a TE3x. Lots of info on there if you want to go with something else. If your axles and axle bearings are OK, you can swap in an AE86 LSD centre

The problem of course, is proving they sped up

If you are keen, you can pick up a filter king pressure regulator, though unlikely the fuel pump is over pressurising. This functions as a pressure regulator and filter, and looks old school. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Malpassi-Fuel-Filter-King-and-Regulator-85mm-/120866969662?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c243b983e Good seller, and has been continually listing these for years. No need to get into a bidding war as they will list another when this finishes.

So my last post was a trifle premature, as it didn't run......... As it was so late at night, I let it fire then turned off. Turns out it was only running on the cold start injector and the injectors had no power. When I went to start properly, no joy. So traced it through the diagnostic charts to discover there was battery voltage at the fail safe pin of the ECU when it is supposed to be less than 1 volt. Thus no current would pass through the wire which on ignition is meant to trigger engine relay 2 thus supplying power to the injectors. Going through the charts eventually led to the "try another ECU". The other ECU I had also proved the same. Strange. Anyway, on to ToyotaDIY and I discover that both ECU's I have are meant for an AE82 FX GT. The ECU certainly worked when I had an adapted loom. Whether using a full Jap loom somehow is relevant here, I am not quite sure, but anyway. So on to good old importmonster, and located some AE86 ECU's. Available quite cheaply there especially if you combine items into one parcel, so bought one of each generation ECU just in case (2 ECU's) They arrived Friday, stuck it in the car late Saturday night, turned key to ignition, and engine relay 2 clicked! Turn to start and away she went. There was a bit of screaming going on - very happy. Now it actually runs, it is like something has changed. Finally the car is about to be finished. Walking around AOMC car show today talking to people asking me that perennial, "when's it going to be finished", I know it is close. Having so comprehensively overhauled the car, I suppose in the back of your mind there is always that small doubt that you may have screwed something up. I realise most people are keen for it to be finished so I can get on to the other projects, rather than particular interest in AE86's! The engine has remained still so long that the fan belt is permanently set into a triangle shape with predictable results. It was a bit tight anyway, as I have modified the thermostat housing to use an AE82 thermoswitch to trigger the electric fan via relays, which has restricted the range of the alternator adjustability. So I need a 5pk830 or 835 which of course useless Repco don't stock anywhere in Australia. Shall try again elsewhere tomorrow when I pick up my NOS genuine front bumper for the KE15 from importmonster. Then I can do the painting, and hope there are no hidden issues I am yet to discover. Have one other interesting development I discovered when looking on Yahoo for factory ECU's. More about that later........

Have you got enough master cylinder travel at the pedal? I recall having similiar issues when I swapped a 4AGE into the wife's AE82. Despite not touching anything clutch actuation wise during the conversion, I found I needed to adjust the clutch actuation rod into the master cylinder. Confused hell out of me at the time. I also recall it was a prick to get at.

That Corona GT was stunning. Also curious about the TA22 GT with the injected 2TG. The compliance plate was in English rather than japanese. Was this an evaluation car? Also discovered there is another original KE15 out there being restored by a keen husband & wife team. Did anyone get their contact details? I wandered off to be dazzled by the Prince's and lost them. Loved the Prince Skyline being towed around by the Prince Gloria. It really was a great turnout by the Prince group. Shame the hakosuka skyline didn't make it off the flatbed. I think the Classic Japan show was far superior, but anything that draws these cars out is worth supporting.

Hi Guys I'm interested to hear if anyone has any info about these ECU's. Mainly interested to learn if anyone knows whether they use low or high resistance injectors. Also on the lookout for an instruction booklet. I realise it is in Japanese but should be able to get it interpreted. I know it uses 250cc injectors, and there is a little info about them on Club4AG EDIT: THIS IS SORTED, THANKS

Got my Toyota Topics magazines from Teddy in the post today. Awesome!! Not to mention the little extra surprise that came with them. Thanks Teddy!!! These were magazines printed for US Toyota owners in the late 60's & early 70's. There is some great stuff in them, but thought I would share these with you.

Exactly, but let the buyer beware.
-
Assuming the source is the person I mentioned in my post above, which sounds likely, you may want to do some further research before jumping on a plane. The internet has made the world a very small place and the modified old Toyota community isn't that big. Do let us know how you get on, and if you go, take lots of photos.

When the car was new, they didn't use strut inserts, rather it was a piston set up in an oil bath essentially. Nowadays all that gets thrown away and replaced with a sealed strut cartridge which fixes the leak. Make sure you get a KE25 screen as KE20 is different. Post up where you get it and how much as I need to buy one.

I can't see anything where it says what time it finishes. Does anyone know?

I gather it is a good idea to put a bellmouth in the exit from the collection chamber to the plenum. I think also try to reduce turbulence with a longish intake from a cold air source.
