  1. Now not having a go but probably the headgasket idea isn't a good one http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/59569-ke26-wheres-the-aerial-plug/page__pid__596646#entry596646
  2. Spotted Tik Tak parked up on the side of the road tonight. Nearly crashed when I saw a KE17!
  3. The Crown would make a seriously awesome tow car. Does anyone know how to make the rear window go up in the tailgate? I couldn't find any mechanism and wondered if it was electric. Wanted to look for a dealer sticker.
  4. Yes, it's very cool. Same as the one in the picture above although I just pulled that photo off the net for convenience. My car is running now, but will get some miles on it with standard ECU as previously run then swap them over and head for the dyno. Then off to a hillclimb
  5. Ah, secret squirrels.... It's a TRD unit that is designed to run with a set compression ratio, cams, spark plug and exhaust dimensions, with the air filter element removed. Has various maps to suit either group N1 or Group A depending on how the Dip switches and rotary switch are set. Is also designed to be used on either a 4AGE or 2E-E or 2E-TE engine again depending on how switches are arranged. Also has further in car adjustment for fuel and spark advance via a MAP type controller. Runs on "standard" injectors which I take to be 235cc which were the biggest AE86 type injector before smallports, though it has settings to suit an AE92 also. Also has built in diagnostic function like a standard ECU Not available for automatic vehicle!
  6. Often what is available depends on where you pick up. You may find it cheaper if you pickup away from an airport, but what is stocked at that particular branch may differ markedly from what they show on their website. LHD is no big deal after you've done a few left or right turns onto the wrong side of the road. But wait till you get on a motorway and forget that you are supposed to keep right unless overtaking........ Or you decide to overtake something in your 1 litre slushbox and find something closing up your arse at light speed! And you think there are lots of speed cameras here, wait till you get to Europe. It's a bit like red light cameras, lots of well signposted locations, but you never know which one is actually active. One striking difference is the courtesy from other drivers. None of this kill or be killed aggression you get here. Re GPS: In Italy a little while ago, I was supposed to turn onto a motorway toward Florence at night in torrential rain only to find the on ramp shut due to roadworks. Had no choice but to go straight whilst GPS told me to turn around. It finally recalculated and took me via the most convoluted series of back streets I would never have had any hope in working out myself. When you are tired, on the wrong side of the road with no real sense of where you are, it is the best extra expense you will never regret paying
  7. Seriously, look at your itinerary and think really hard if you really need a car. Trains over there a light years ahead of Australia and you can get virtually anywhere & often. If you do hire a car, make sure you get a GPS with it. Makes things much simpler and you can even have someone speaking in an Australian accent (my kids christened her Karen). Of course you need to inconspicuously hide it when parked......
  8. Looking in the owners manual, General Specifications, they list: Wheelbas. 2285mm Tread. Front 1230mm Rear 1220mm I presume tread means track? Edit: Sorry meant track not wheelbase.
  9. Time to head over to 3tcgarage.com US based website, lots of people who have been down similar paths you are asking about.
  10. Do you mean the dust cap that fits on the outside hub and keeps stuff out of the inner hub? I bought 4 recently from Toyota for the AE86. Can't recall the price, but it wasn't $20 each. They always give me trade without asking too hard. I think the KE1x caps will be a different size. Interested if anyone knows where to get those.
  11. If you were in Melbourne, I would say nip down to Bill Thompson's. He does mail order though, just a case of measuring one so you know the size. http://www.autorubbers.com.au/moulding_clips_fasteners.htm
  12. I was of that understanding too, though recently there was a guy on here from the US who had an S series in his. I gather Southernjake is in the US? Helpful to add a location especially with Q's like this. Is it a 10 bolt rear or 8 bolt?
  13. Jesus, that went for 7 pages..... and I just read the lot. Edit: Sorry B.L.Z.BUB, didn't mean to use your name in vain
  14. For a start, tell us where you are. Not readily available at Mawson Station
  15. You don't need a braided line from clutch master to slave. Grab a hardline from a rack fitted Toyota with slave on the right hand side. When converting my AE86 to a 4AGE bellhousing, I used one from an RA60 from memory. Fitted perfectly. And as above, all the clutch actuating stuff just swaps over, other than the slave for which you use one for a T18 (TE72). Available at your brake and clutch place. Factory LSD is fine for most spirited driving and will transform the car. Depends what you want to use it for. Remember however that most centres are nearly 30 years old, although you can get rebuild kits for them. I don't understand all this 1.5 or 2 way stuff, but exxy fancy aftermarket LSD's are readily available if they suit your purpose.
  16. Here you go. $20 was a lot of money in 1970. doc20120402093807.pdf
  17. 4.3's in combination with a T50 are fine in a street car too, but harder to find compared to 4.11.
  18. Hiring the car is nice. Accidents really are a shit for all concerned. And I hate that sound
  19. Disagree, the woman over the road backed into the wife's car a little while back. No big deal for her across the road. Me? Meant I had to take a half day off to get the car to repairers, then a whole day off to collect it. Plus the 5 days we didn't have the car was significant issues trying to get to and from work, and kids to various sporting commitments etc.
  20. Which steering arms do you have? If KE20 you will need to consider balljoint pin size, or look at changing the steering arm. I think you will find that ads to the attraction of redrilling the crossmember.
  21. As above, no issues with fitment inside a 13 inch wheel. Master cylinder is still 13/16 so no issues there and your booster will be fine, but you should consider sourcing the correct proportioning valve. Some people gut the one they have but that worries me. They don't cost that much so do it properly. The calipers have a cable actuated mechanism (not hydraulic) that applies the brake piston as a handbrake. Discs are not vented. The one issue you may have is the caliper brackets. I am almost certain the bolt pattern for mounting to the axle is totally different to what you will find on your drum rear end. Same story if retrofitting to a drum T series axle. No biggy if you are able to have brackets fabricated, but may be an issue with engineering. If I was you I would either buy a AE86 disc brake rear end, assuming you have lots of cash. Otherwise source a late T18 rear end (it's also a T series and the later ones have a sway bar) which are also often pricey due to demand. If you do the latter, you will still need to source some rear calipers and discs to convert and fabricate caliper mounts. There is also write ups around on Toymods for upgrading to a rear Corona disc setup. All engineering issues probably. At least having a T series rear end means you can have an LSD which is a very worthwhile upgrade in my experience. Plus whatever calipers you get will likely need rebuilding at approx $80 for a kit. Discs are available locally from RDA and you can buy them grooved if you wish. Remember the shopping list will include the proportioning valve and handbrake cables. However you do it, it will be expensive. Seriously consider whether you really need to do it. Sensible budget approach would be to install a late T18 rear end, leave it drum which is totally adequate and allows an LSD fitment. Then spend time on your front brakes.
  22. Try these guys [email protected] (03) 9873 3566 They're in Thornton Crs in Mitcham Victoria. Have the most amazing old school warehouse/shop you have ever seen. Stuff everywhere. You walk in and say, " can I have a 1967 thingamajig from a Daihatsu Do Dad, manufactured between February and April please?", and they wander off and 5 mins later he puts it on the counter in front of you. Usually. Nice (older) guys to, happy to make the effort to work out exactly what you are after. They sell stuff on ebay too so shipping is no problem.
  23. Yeah, but you were never going to fall for it peter Robinson was at the Dandenong All japan Day. Edit: Mind you I did have to Google "Derp"
  24. You need to give detailed info on the fuel system I suspect.
  25. Bit disappointed I didn't get even one bite
