  1. A GT3 RS with a V10? I think I've read that post wrong.
  2. Got it to what I call stage 2 this afternoon. Made up a jig to replicate the carburetor positions, was also useful to making sure they were straight/square/plumb etc. Could have just re-positioned the carbs to suit the port position width-wise, but was going to make a jig of some kind anyway..... *shrugs*
  3. Threw out V1.0 & started from scratch on V2.0, made it this far today & will be finishing it off after work during the week. I enjoy doing this on a recreational basis, I don't think this is something I would want to/be capable of doing for a living. :hmm: Thanks to the generosity of a fellow TCCAV member, I had my choice of Arc, TIG, MIG, or Oxy-Acetylene. Used the MIG for tack-welding (first-time user, LOVE these things!) & will use Oxy-Acetylene for the final runs. This is due to sticking with what I know & can do better, my Oxy welds come up better than my MIG welds. So be it. *shrugs* The insides of the runners will need die-grinding to clean them up once welded to the flange, both from the welds & my inability to get the shape of the ports exactly right. Within 0.5mm was close enough, weld is added to the outside so I figure it's all good to take a little off the inside to match the port.
  4. Bits & pieces for DIY inlet manifold V1.0.
  5. Either of these of any use to you? I'll admit I don't know what country-spec these are. This is a Canadian one.
  6. I'm sorry I have no photos from the last CC&D, I was unable to attend due to VMC commitments. But I have 'borrowed' a few photos from silverra23, great work mate! Just like I will be unable to attend the next CC&D on Sunday the 15th of September at Jells Park in Wheelers Hill. For a Google Maps Link to the location, please click here. The easiest way to find us will be to enter Jells Park via Waverley Road.
  7. A) - Stop being lazy B) - Get the car to a somewhat roadworthy condition, as there's no chance of getting registered under the club permit scheme with it looking like a POS/being defected. The Club Permit scheme is heading towards requiring roadworthy certificates as it is, having defected deathtraps making applications is not going to help matters. C) - Do your own research into car clubs in your area, find out what clubs are out there, what they do & which one you think suits you the best. Then join up, some clubs have not only a joining fee but a waiting period before you can apply for a club permit, basically they like to know who you are & what you're about before issuing you with that privilege. Which if your car is then found to be defectable/unroadworthy or you're found driving outside the road rules, can (as above) have serious repercussions for the club. When one person can screw the whole thing up for everyone (not just that clubs members, I mean EVERYONE on the club permit scheme), don't be surprised if you find the process very serious indeed.
  8. This is awesome. I'll bet you'll have a ball with the roads in your state! Bang-for-buck you'll be hard pressed to find much better, I presume yours is in relatively good condition. :) This is what you can do in a pretty standard-ish one of these:
  9. Ahh...yeah...that Golf... He willl be a bit more of a challenge, beat me by 25 seconds overall!
  10. WGMG - I may have said this before, but Victoria University grinds my gears. I won't list every problem I've had with them as I'll be here all night, but just when I thought it was all sorted & I could graduate this year.....I get an invoice in the mail with my name, my address, but course components I've already paid for listed & someone elses Student ID. Who to the best of my knowledge, is not even enrolled in Cert III: Plumbing/Gasfitting. FFS, it just can't be simple can it? :rolls: Edit: Can't believe I missed this. Amen to that.
  11. Results in from Sundays motorkhana in Leongatha: 24th out of 37 Outright, 26th on Handicap, 5th out of 8 in Class A & 1st out of 2 in Novice. Slightly depressing that I was flogged by 20 seconds overall by an 80's Daihatsu Charade, but taking consolation in being only 1.9 seconds overall behind that Gen 1 Civic. Going to beat it sooner or later! ;)
  12. It was standard bore size, now just honed ??? amount (absolute minimum I was told). I'll get the exact size when I get the measurements for the machinists to order rings. The job card was MIA, you can imagine what a workshop move is like! I can use the standard rods/pistons, I'm happy. :) Next time Gadget, next time! ;)
  13. An addiction to aspiration is natural. Only one of those items is now no longer due to be used on one of my engines ;)
  14. As you can see by the photos, the day started out nicely, was a bit breezy overnight but the rain held off for the most part. A few of us TCCAV members had our own little Cars, Coffee & Donuts :) Some new competition, probably flogged me. Then the weather kinda went downhill, quickly. Fun for me, probably not so much for the Specials. Probably my best run, except for the part where I thought for some reason I was going the wrong way. Videos come up much better with less body roll! The rest of the in car footage can be found here:
  15. Stockies with semis, win! (I've just always wanted to do this)
  16. True, I was thinking that those bores would look great in yellow. Edit: Playing with filters/effects while bored at the laundromat last night, turned out okay for a phone camera.
  17. May the progress recommence! Forgot to order piston rings, but sorting those next week. Machinists were literally moving the workshop to their new location (mostly with forklift/truck) when I picked the block up, so will give them some time. Could get them from Repco etc, but the machinists can get them for me even cheaper so why bother? ;) 0.010"/0.25mm deck skim & probably not even that much with a cylinder honing, paid a third of what I was semi-quoted/expecting so no complaints here! :)
  18. Sucks that it happened, but at least it wasn't something you had done or had missed! No internal damage is the best news.
  19. Cheers & thankyou guys, it's a massive relief! Not quite to the extent of Hiro's complications, but I did have a few 'hiccups' along the way. Being stubborn helped :) There will be no fancy ceremony with gowns & hat-throwing, skipping that in favour of show up, collect certificate, profit. Ahh $h1t Reed, sorry to hear man. You have a job still though right?
  20. WMMH - The light at the end of the tunnel is, for once, NOT a train! *happy dance*
  21. I don't believe there will be room inside the display area to store trailers. The best idea might be to park the trailer outside the display area, unload your car there & drive it the short distance into the show. Avoids potential difficult maneuvers with a trailer inside the display area as well. :)
  22. A reminder for you all that our monthly General Meeting is on tomorrow, Tuesday 13th of August, upstairs at The Bells Hotel. The address is 157 Moray Street, South Melbourne, meals from 6:30pm & the meeting starts @ 8:00pm. Google Maps Link here. On-street parking is available around the venue, will see you there!
  23. I made a slight change to the OP, please have a re-read :)
  24. In terms of brainwashing people, religion pwns any government.
  25. If you have a shifter, put them over a round/undamaged section of the tube & close the jaws until they grip the tube. Then put the shifter over the damaged section & slowly/gently roll it around the tube. This causes the jaws of the shifter to force the bent tube to become round again, you may need to spin the shifter around a few times to get it right. We do it all the time to straighten kinked copper pipes at work, hopefully I have explained that so it makes sense. :hmm: So awesome that Maxi's running again! :D
