Sounds like a cool car in the making might have to come and have a look when its finished. Another option you could do with it is once a month they have autocross behind the Bunbury speedway at a new track they built. Autocross is basically a preliminary to rally on a closed track its pretty cheap all you need is a cams license and a 1KG fire extinguisher and run what you bring basically here is the web site if you want to have a look. http://www.swtcc.com.au/ and they have their own forum which is just beginning Autocross forum. They also run autocrosses at the kwinana motorplex so if you give that a look into aswell. But whatever you do I advise you to build a 1/2 cage at least to save your self if you do roll. Good luck boys

Nice car I used to race juniors under the number 75 aswell. Good to see a new generation of drivers continuing on the corolla spirit in speedway rather than going to the crappy FWD Charades. Good luck and have fun

For a car to race at Barbagallo you would need Minimum of 5 Point Racing harness $130-170 Fire Extinguisher approx $100 Rollcage $0-1000 They would probably require a level 2 speed cams license to race at Barbagallo Entry to the race track every meeting $30-50?? Nomination??? Or Membership to WACC (BARBAGALLO) $500?? Drifting Pits would also require Multiple wheels/tyres, Jack, Jack stands, wheel brace, fuel, spare parts, ZIP TIES That would be a basic require ments plus the costs of building the car. Personally a Grip car would be something I would find interesting, but if you guys want to drift it probably would be a cheaper alteranatives Any feedback on your thoughts would be appreciated. Still a great idea but some homework on requirements and cost of racing in classes/track

That would be cool even a 4K thrasher so that no great costs are involved. good idea :)

Use a timimg light and try running it on premium unleaded that will stop the pinging aswell
-
tojo: the it's U series axles that fit, Borg Warner ones are much larger.

Hey Ancullen did you get a chance to to take a picture of the sway bar mounting?
-
Both are exactly the same internally just a different position. I have race with both types of blocks and had no probs with either of them
-
3.7 that fits in to a 30/55 housing is a 3.7 rear diff from an AL25 Tercel. Half of the speedway guys I race against run them so the source is very reliable.

Fantastic car that engine just looks old school COOL :D Induction sound and exhaust noise must be awesome
-
A picture of the gearbox would help us identify exactly which gearbox you have
-
In English with punctuation (goes a longway on this forum :D )
-
Oh ok I thought they were both on race cars. Did the '35 have a locker? because mine is just a standard open centre
-
It's for my road car not my speedway car. I want one because even now its lowered the back is still very soft and has some body roll so with a rear sway bar this willl eliminate it, Thats what i thought anyway so this looked like the easiest way to eliminate it

Coln72: Thats what I thought i would do if I found a donr or just replicate on using 3mm steel Ancullen: Thanks mate that would be awesome

Does any one have a picture or diagram from a workshop manual on how/where they attach to the car as i have been under my car and looked under an early KE55 and I still can't see how they work so linkage/monting point pictures would be great :bash:
-
I got this gearbox from a KE30 with a 4K in it and as far as i'm aware only KE55's Received the 5 Speed so the 8/77-8/80 would seem to be the correct one for my gearbox i will try this avenue first and if this is not correct i willl hunt down a KE70 box and use my extension housing. Thanks for all your advice trd it has been fantastic  I have just looked through a Haynes KE70 repair manual i had and it has an image of the countershaft and it looks very similar could the two be that same part? What are the differences between the KE55 and KE70 5 speed gearboxes?
-
My gearbox is the KE55 K-50 "smooth" gearbox so it's different part is it? Have you had any experience with these gearboxes?
-
Did you get that from toyota? If so how long ago and would you have the part No? :bash:
-
My K-50 had been making a whining bearing noise in 1st,2nd,3rd and 5th gear so my mechanic said come in and i will teach you to pull it apart. We thought it was just a dead bearing but when we pulled the countershaft, which is the shaft that runs parallel to the output shaft in the gearbox and where the bearing operates for the gears on the shaft and it has deteriorated creating the whining noise. Has anyone else come across this? Is it common problem? Here are some images of the shaft out of the gearbox and an image from my Toyota chassis manual, only in the manual it doesn’t have the section of bearing steel in which the bearing runs on in my gearbox. Any advice or anyone with a spare would be greatly appreciated. :)
