Here is a KE70 diagram for the Inhibitor Switch (Starter Circuit) contacts for the switch should be common in park and neutral.
Reverse switch is Ignition fed.
should be an inhibitor switch on the gear selector somewhere. just make it break the starter circuit with that switch. (can only crank in park/neutral)
I'd try to find a wreckers to get the correct sub-harness and plug it all back in like factoy (after removing the dodgy wiring they have done previously).. Looks good, the red and black goes well together..

red lights are normally ignition driven, check your fuses, there shouldn't be that many..
I had a similar problem with some early ke's helping people out over the years. is it a 2 wire or 3 wire combo (park/indicator) light?
