Theres no pictures of the rust which seems a little bit dodgy. Car seems to have a lean to the passengers side. No proof of KM's as its only a 5 digit speedo. I like how he added the pricing. Pricing Dealer Trade 1100-1400 Dealer Retail 2200-2640 Private Sale 1260-1540 Plus its not in original condition. It does look nice, but I don't think its worth 5-6k

In my class at TAFE, there's only 2 guys with licenses. Most mechanics workshops you won't even be allowed to drive customers cars until at least 2nd year, if not qualified.

I had a similar problem on my KE30, turns out the splines on the wiper arms and the motor were worn and slipping.

Make sure you take in what people in this thread have said. I work for Toyota, I'm a second year apprentice. Trust me, it's a shite job. I was exactly like you, I thought that because it interested me I would have fun learning and working. You will get treated like you're worth nothing, clean for ages and get burnt by everyone. Service managers and formen especially. EDIT: Also, the pay sucks. $9.23 2nd year. Very hard to build a car on that wage. When I started, every single person asked me why I wanted to be a mechanic. And every single person told me to change my mind and get out while I could. I should have listened to them. But after saying all that, if you find a good place where you're treated well, and you actually get to learn then you will be happy. Most places aren't like that though. Hope this has helped mate, Sian

What car is this for? And are you referring to the saddle rubbers?

First post updated. Well, after months of umming and ahhing and inactivity I decided that the red car wasn't worth the time. So started to look around, and bought 2 x KE55's from eBay, from a guy who lives about 5 minutes from me. One is auto, one is manual. I'm going to be using the auto shell as it is infinitely better than the manual. I've wasted too much time with this project already, and I've been urged to get a clear plan in my head. So here goes: First of all, I need to strip and dispose of the two extra cars. So I will be taking what ever parts I need to make my shell as good as possible. Will strip some parts for people who want them, and then get rid of the shells. Get the auto shell in the garage. Start stripping the shell completely. All panels, lights, grilles, bumpers, screens etc. Remove the bog and inspect. I've been told that its just a minor hit, no rust. Sand the body back. Sand the engine bay, and paint. While sanding, continue with the conversion. Install motor, diff, trans, wiring, fuel system etc. When the car is running, get it painted. Once painted, get it engineered. I realise that this may take a fair while, mainly due to cash restrictions. At least I have a car to drive around in in the meantime. Please offer up any comments or criticism, or lots of inspiration. If you're looking for KE30/55 parts, here is the wrecking thread for my 2 spare cars. Cheers, Sian

Spotted Blind Kid Seeks's AE71 wags on Koornang Road in Carnegie tonight at around 9.15. Was hoping you would come out while I was waiting for my food so I could have a chat! Looks very clean + phat!

I wouldn't go driving any more than necessary. Get it looked at before you do more damage.
-
Yeh, apparently the engineer believes that if it wasn't fitted to a local car, it cannot be engineered. But it's been done many times before so I don't understand why its such a problem. What's a grey imported car?

Spotted a beige (I think - I'm colour blind) Ksev on Dandy Road outbound, heading towards Dandy. Spotted at around 3.30 at the intersection with Murrumbeena road. Lowered, chrome bars, loud, front no. plate offset, didn't see a cooler tho. You had fishing rods in the front passenger foot well! I was in the red AUIII, looking right at you. You gave me a bad look :P.

Thank you sir. EDIT: For anyone who is interested, my brother posted the same thread on Toymods. http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.p...160#post1126160 Got a fairly conclusive answer there. Off to the engineers tomorrow to argue the case!

Cheers for all the quick replies, you guys rock. What guide lines do engineers work to? I mean, is there some kind of engineers handbook or other publication? Would it be different for different states possibly (not likely though)?

Hey everyone, Wondering if anyone can help me out, sorta need this info tonight. I need to know if a twin turbo 1JZ-GTE was ever factory fitted to an Australian delivered vehicle, and I need conclusive proof. I believe it was fitted to the Soarer 2.5GT (Jzz30?), but I need some kind of evidence to support this. My brother is trying to get his 1JZ Cressida engineered, and the engineer has told him that the engine needs to have been factory fitted to an Australian delivered vehicle, otherwise it cannot be engineered. This has to do with emissions. Can anyone help confirm my theory? Remember, I need evidence to present to the engineer, but feel free to at least confirm my theory, or tell me if 1J's were fitted to something else in Australia. Thanks for reading, Sian

Haha I used to work at Subway. It's wasn't great.

I've never really listened to 1200 techniques, but a quick look around revealed that he's doing shows in the U.K at the moment. Also, he released a solo album on the 18/1/10. Maybe I should invest in some 1200 techniques.

The guy who sings that verse calls himself Motley, and yeah he hails from the U.K. I actually saw him yesterday at Good Vibes, watching Diafrix. Spewing I didn't get a picture with him.

Yeh Bliss N Eso are a quality act. Bliss is actually a Yank :). On another note, did anyone happen to hit up one of the Good Vibrations Festivals? Went to the Melbourne festival today, saw some real talent! Diafrix represented for Aussie hip-hop. I saw Kid Cudi, Salt-N-Pepa, Naughty By Nature and Busta rhymes aswell. EDIT: I have one of those Obese Hoodies. I love it! You should go check out the store in Prahran. Very good place.

You can't just go down to your local track and drive on it.
-
It won't wash away. From my experience, if it gets on a brake pad, it stays on a brake pad.
-
Good to see some support on RC! Keep the comments coming guys. Anyone heading to Good Vibes in Melbourne next weekend? If so, check out Diafrix. Two african refugees re-settled in Melbourne, their stuff is pretty good! Quite a different flavour.

Yeh, Brothers Grimm is one of the best albums around at the moment. I've also checked out Hard Road Restrung, that shit is dope! Caught Drapht at Solar festival last month, and caught Hilltop playing at festival hall in December.

Aha a reply! I was begining to think that there was no one else like me around here. Any particular artists that you like?

I thought yellow was prepare to stop?

Hey bud, Looks like a great start. I've always been a fan of the Lexus white with blue pearl through it. I think Subaru do it to, I believe they call it Arctic or Winter white.
