  1. How is it possible for the diff to be offset? You must have something wrong because there's no way its like that from factory. The wheel on each side should sit in exactly the same position.
  2. Has every car you've ever owned been so immaculate? :o Love that KE20! Keep the pics coming.
  3. 19 you say? You realise you'll probably be in the area of $250-300 a week. Its not easy living off that kinda money...espcially if you like modifiying cars. 1st year apprentice mechanic award wage is $250 a week, so I can't see tyre fitting being much different. How long is the traineeship by the way? EDIT: If you're not sure if you're going to like it, find a tyre place and ask them if you can help out for a couple of days - unpaid of course. That should give you an indication of what the job is going to be like. Be careful about starting a traineeship if you're not certain about it. You will be asked to sign some kind of contract, although they usually have a probation period in which either party can cancel the contract at any time.
  4. Fitting tyres does get very repititive. It is also pretty hard on your body, especially your back. Minimum wage and worth it do not go together. Minimum wage is horrible. How old are you if you don't mind me asking?
  5. The window winders have what are sometimes refered to as a jesus clip on them (called a jesus clip because that's what you yell when it either flys off and hits you in the eye or gets shot away never to be found again). There are tools you can use, but generally if you just get a bit of rag and slide it down behind the window winder. The clip usually faces towards the long part of the winder, so have that facing up and slide the rag down there. Just use a back and forth motion while pulling down and they pop out. If the rear vents are anything like a KE30/55 they should just have a couple of nuts holding them in. They are accessed from the boot in '30. What is this fluff that you speak of? Hope that was helpful, cheers, Sian
  6. It's stamped into the firewall. You can't miss it
  7. I don't know any details of this modification, you'd have to look around the forum, check out the rides and then once you have a good idea of what to do you can direct more detailed questions to the people who've done it.
  8. What engine? Assuming you want to charge the standard motor you have either a 3k or a 4k. SC12 has been done a few times on K series motors, have a look in the rides section.
  9. Its definitely possible. Although doing so would void any warranty that you may have left. You would need (note this is not a complete list by any means): transmission, clutch, flywheel, pressure plate, interior trims, ECU, driveshafts if they vary. No time to type anymore, someone else pitch in!
  10. Bending struts? That's as bad as what the OP wants to do.
  11. You'll kill a K50 putting it behind a 4A-GE. No point even trying to make it work. What you need is the 5 speed (T-50) out of an AE71. AE71's had an A series motor, which mates to a T series box in rwd format. KE70's had a K series motor, which bolt up to a K series box. Look around on the forums, they pop up fairly regularly. Make sure you get an AE71 box, not a celica one.
  12. Haha. Shes been in there for over 6 months now, no problems! Apparently taxi depots do it all the time.
  13. Not enough pics in this thread. LC200 Series ute More Pics Here One of our salesmen hitting a gutter while trying to demonstrate the VSC system in a Camry Hybrid My current sump plug...Works quite well actually Shiny silver paper + tape + airbox = super cool induction temps More to come later Cheers, Sian
  14. Apparently headgasket problems are so common on Carnivales that they're almost a part of the 100k service. :o
  15. Ok, scoured pics from both phones I've had while working as a mechanic. Hope other people enjoy these as much as I did. Engines and water don't mix. Rod had to be hit with a hammer to remove it from the side of the block He swore he wasn't doing burnouts. Funny thing is he came into the service reception car park spinning the wheels, which unfortunately for him I saw. No more warranty. This happened while doing a fuel injection clean. The mechanic blocked off the feed line but forgot to open the cap. Half an hour of fuel pump building pressure = These are KDJ120 Prado engine mounts Hope everyone enjoyed these. Will put more up tomorrow maybe. Cheers, Sian
  16. Can we make this thread a bit broader, EG: Cool and broken shit that you've seen as a mechanic? I'd have some pics then :laff:
  17. That yellow ksev looks awesome, you should definitely slam it. Tint will be even better!
  18. $20 to machine 2 discs is a good deal. Bendix pads are supposedly noiseless now, but I'd still buy something better. A set of Ferodo's can be had for around $50 if you get a trade discount.
  19. How did you find the shift kit in the auto? Worth it?
