  2. For the leaves, get them reset with an extra leaf added and the leaf eyes inverted. Better options for cut springs? Well that's easy, don't cut them. Get lowered springs to suit, they're not expensive.

  4. Your oil is always going to be black. Look for a milky substance in your oil, especially under the oil cap.

  7. There was a Toyota bulletin out last year some time that I saw at work. Something to do with ryco and other non-gen filters failing in some engines...can't really remember it that well.

  11. Well said about the mods. Brakes are probably not worth it with the 4k, might be useful with the 5k. Probably best just to get some new rotors and pads, new brake fluid and a good bleed. Didn't see the part about the diff there, wouldn't bother with it. I think the most useful things you could do would be to lower it, swaybars, bushes, get it sitting on some bigger, fatter, sexy superlites, new shocks if it needs it and any new steering components if it needs it.

  13. What do you mean that its 99.993% gonna get written off? Not everyone drives like you. To the OP, I say go ahead with your plans, and good luck with it. It sounds like you are going to turn it into a respectable looking, nice to drive cruiser. Good to see you're going to do the work yourself, but be prepared to spend a bit on parts. I would say that the stainless brake lines are overkill though.
  14. I don't think AE86 coil overs are a direct fit, anyone know for sure? If they do then I could have saved myself some cash! If you go with XT130 struts then I would recommend the Corona/Hilux/Peugot brake upgrade. It's overkill but who cares and it's relatively easy to do.

  16. AFAIK there's nothing off the shelf that doesn't require modification to fit. Weld on coil over kits and XT130 struts are probably the best option.

  23. From what I've seen at work, they're a pretty horrible car.
  24. I doubt an "everyday mechanic" would bother with a job of this sort. You really need to look at performance or engineering workshops, or maybe even someone on the forum who is willing to do the job.
  25. Gearbox can be sourced from an AE71, AE86 and certain celicas i believe. It's a T-50.
