  1. Thanks mate, I just started some more to keep me busy. The diff is now at Altra9 to put the centre together, and new chromoly axles, chromoly m12x 1.5 wheel studs, ect? The old diff is out with springs ect. Zorst is off. Id2000's are sitting in petrol so they stay nice. The gearboxen is on the floor as well, so stally can be sent off for adjustment. I am well into the minor changes that are happening to the rear floor as well, still a long way to go though with that, so decided i wont have time to build the diff, so drove it off to bris. Spent a fair bit of time talking to Slingshot and then TCE about the stall converter, sending it off to TCE this week to get sorted. Its all happening, the aim is to be back ready for the January powercruise.
  2. I agree with this, i went from 4k to 5k in my ke25 and there was nothing in it really. The 5k would have to work out better when you start to mod them both, cubic inches is always an advantage at some stage. Nah i tried this, in my ke30 i went from 4k to 3tc, yikes it really failed to be an upgrade at all! I guess once again if you modify them both the 3tc would be worth having but stock for stock a waste of time, and a whole lot more effort than a 5k. As for the sr20de yes it is easy for the right person, you really need to have a mechanical mind. I have mates that i know couldn't do it, you could give them every single item and lay it out for them and it wouldn't happen. Basic knowledge, and a desire to learn, find answers, and take advice is a good place to start.
  3. honestly i think the final bill for irs will be a whole lot more than your thinking. make sure you get a written price before you go too far. i think the old mans shop cost around the $550 mark to shorten an r31 housing to suit ke25, shortened axle included. diff supplied by customer, mounts not included from memory, prob another $100. thats a pretty bulletproof option.
  4. since you re on the sunny coast I have an r31 wheel here you can have for $50, then you only need 3 lol. I also have steel elanta wheels, and lancer wheels here as well they are all 114.3 but offset is wrong, they fit on the back but not the front, offset is wrong regardless.
  5. I did this to my ke25 to make an s13 radiator fit further forward, would probably work on a ke30. It really depends how you feel about cutting the rad support panel, the datto radiator is probably more of a factory fit.
  6. Altezza's diagram is the go, most people put the surge tank and pressure pump at the rear of the car but same diagram. I would personally use at least a 1 litre surge tank, under full noise it will give you a bit more time. You can use an efi high pressure pump in the tank as the lift pump if you like, or a carby low pressure pump it really doesnt matter. fuel line size is pretty small on a ke30, i would change it out, make sure you use the same size return line as pressure line. if you are going to do it, may as well do it properly and go at least 10mm, if you plan on decent upgrades later go the 1/2 inch line. The only reason i wouldnt just go straight to 1/2 inch is off the shelf efi hose in only available up to 10mm, above that you need to go to enzed to get 1/2 inch hose. This stuff is really easy to work with, you can bend it nicely by hand, you will need the 8 metre roll to do a full car, i think i had 2 meters left over. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1-2-ALLOY-FUEL-LINE-12-7mm-BLACK-ANODISED-METHANOL-E85-Aeroflow-AF66-3001-/171396464209?hash=item27e8067e51:g:wAAAAOSwq7JT0LGG http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/AEROFLOW-ALLOY-FUEL-LINE-3-8-9-5MM-25FT-LONG-ROLL-RAW-FINISH-AF66-3000-/361372527075?hash=item54237b29e3:g:NhMAAOxycmBSzNKz
  7. tis good man, keep us updated, put a crappy Toyota in the garage and the dirty Nissan on the street. I do love my nissans they are a brilliant chassis to drive hard, r32 was my favourite, the current r34 handles like an animal but feels a bit obese to throw around. I tend to get more attached to the rollas though, te dirty nissans come and go, the rollas stay.
  8. Decided to build it my self, already in with too many $$$ on this diff. Gears were the unexpected expense, should have just gone with 3.45s then i could have got 2nd hand ones.
  9. I worked out there was about 80 hours in that engine bay just to get it to undercoat stage! The things I could have done with those hours.....
  10. Yep that's right, same pattern. Needs to be vn-ish model commo to be able to use the fluid reserviour from the corolla, later model vt ones bolt up to the booster as well, but the fluid reserviour is held on differently. The commo reserviour can be used but the lid is on an angle so it looks a bit unusual.
  11. its the ke55 booster with a vn commodore master in 15/16. the commo master can be had in 1" as well. a small trap. to run the commo master on the rolla booster you need to glue a small spacer into the master where the booster rod goes in, or the booster wont work properly. make it the same depth as the rolla master cyl. is from factory.
  12. I didn't take this down to powercruise, started prepping it up then thought "what am I doing, its broken", so I went inside and watched ben ten cartoons. So a few things are going to happen in the coming weeks/ months. Install new gearbox. Stall converter adjusted. (how did they get it so wrong!) New diff. 3.7 gears, 31 spline billet axles, truetrac. Rear end floor clearance adjustments. Diff build is first. I need the diff to be ready before I pull the car apart, atm it still works fine if I don't rage it. This diff will be 35mm shorter per side, slightly more dish without looking like a drag car. cut and clean on the jig tacked in place alignment checked welded alignment rechecked after welding WE put these rings of sheetmetal under the join to prevent any welding dags from getting into the tube So the housing is ready, new genuine 3.73 diff gears arrived today, truetrac 31 spline is here, I have Tuesday off so I might take it all to bris on Monday. I have set up plenty of diffs, but with this one I think I will let the pro do it.
  13. gonna keep us in the loop with the new ride?
  14. Along similar lines a 3rz non turbo would also be legal under the new rules, they look very similar to the ka engine, and are also a really good engine.
  15. looks good, pretty tasteful mods for a skyline, i imagined some v8 supercar thing when you talked about the wing.
  16. under ncop a ke30 is 830 kg i think. either way its plenty legal without a turbo. its a good idea, do it!
  17. dirty nissan, more of a love hate thing for me, i have owned a few skylines, currently an r34. but when it comes to street machines its chrome bumper all the way for me. but whatever floats ya boat is all good!
  18. 2560 and e85 is some nice progress, will be a little weapon.
  19. looks neat. is the sillycar swap still on?
