  1. He didnt ask your opinion of the engine (which is obviously misinformed) he asked if it was worth it in whick case I think it is. As mentioned above though there is a bit of work required to get it in and up and running
  2. My old ke10 had a hot 4K with 96rwhp naturally aspirated and was running through a celica diff. So id estimate about 130hp at the flywheel, and this car was my daily driver for four years. So that sort of power would be a possibility but not the best for a daily driver, although it would sound absolutely nuts cheers Justin
  3. How is conversion going to be cheaper, just buying the engine and gearbox would cost more than a rebuild on a K engine. Plus the fact it'll need engineering for road use.
  4. This is a really cool little project I've been playing with Ke10s for quite some time and used to run an injected 4K with 96rwhp and with the standard diff i snapped six axles in a 3month period (could change them in 15minutes) so i had a t series diff (from t-18) cut down to suit. I used the t-18 brakes and all but the expensive part was getting the new axles made. I think they used Hilux axles and machined them down and i kept the 4 X 110 pcd. Also had to drill the drums After years of abuse i still have this diff fitted with and LSD centre and will be going in my new Ke10 project. The reason i used the T series diff was to keep some floor clearance where the bump stop is mounted and the fact it looks like a corolla diff (I didnt get it engineered) Hope this helps with your decision Cheers Justin
  5. Unfortunatly, the problem with most extractors these days is that they are built to be replacements for cracked or damaged exhaust manifolds, not for the performance aspect so much. The pacemaker extractors used to be about the only decent set on the market but due to lack of interest, production was stopped a few years ago. So unless you have the extractors made the qaulity is not the greatest. Cheers Justin
  6. Nice plans champ, sounds like you already know what youre doing without the opinions of others. good luck with the project. I reckon the diff is a good idea too, i used to run a T series diff in my KE10 just so i didnt have to change any more axles, plus the benefit of a more accesible lsd. The brake lines are often overlooked, its actually very surprising how much firmer the pedal feels. All the best with the build Justin
  7. reckon a 9" should be up to the task and handle a few skids
  8. This is not a legal fix in Vic. A removable silencer or baffle is not accepted for noise level testing. And anything put into an exhaust that partially affects the flow is a restriction.
  9. Yeah thats fine and yes it works but try to find an approved noise level tester that will pass it. Most of them check for this sort of fix
  10. A cannon is just a round straight through muffler, so if the internal diameter of the cannon is the same as your exhaust pipe it will just give your car a sporty note, its only when people put a 2.5-3 inch internal diameter cannon on 1.75 pipe that they sound like crap. I have fitted more cannons than i care to remember and they can be made to sound very noise. Good luck with it
  11. I have done this swap a few times and it is quite easy, however i would recommend changing the axles over complete with the disc setup as there are steel spacers behind the backing plates which are for bearing preload and affect end float from memory. The vl and vn rear discs and calipers are the same so you can use either but the axles are differnt hope this helps a little Cheers Justin
  12. G'day Graham i have a full set of ke10 hubcaps and the outer trims to suit but their condition is average' you are welcome to have them if you like I'm in ferntree gully Vic. cheers Justin
  13. 4-1 s will make more power and if you do any other mods down the track you wont have to upgrade again.
  14. Spotto a roll cage. And is that a roof vent?
  15. Try to find a place that does aqua blasting. Ive had my head done and it comes up awesome. It polishes the surface and leaves it smooth. Cheers Justin
  16. Nice work, looks a treat. A little while ago in another thread you spoke of getting the original under bonnet stickers redone, was wondering if you did that? cheers Justin
  17. The ke35 also has a steering box doesnt it and the ke70 has a rack and pinion so there could potentially be a drama with sump and engine position
  18. when there down to about 1mm its time to replace, a new set of shoes only start with about 4-5mm.
  19. Hey man i reckon it might just be your battery is down a little in charge, so enough in it to turn dash lights on but not enough for the starter to crank. Oh, and to remove the immobliser it should just be a matter of tracing the wires except for the main ignition wire which has probably been cut in half to run through the black box, it will need to be re-joined
  20. Nice work. The progress on this is inspiring, looks like a nice little wagon. Good luck with the build on looking forward to seeing the finished product complete with charged k Cheers Justin
  21. Are those hood ornaments expensive?
  22. So i take it you have been in/driven a similar set up and have first hand experience. The 3.8 may not be the best engine but it is cheap ,robust and makes decent power with minimal modification. with appropriate suspension mods this can be made to work. I had a ball in a 302windsor powered ke20 that ran 12s and was engineered in vic. and it handled reasonably well considering. (especially power oversteer)
  23. For a bit more motivation you could check out an old movie called 'Fixing the shadow' starring Charlie Sheen. cool flick with plenty of old school harleys. Nice progress your making the project too.
  24. I wanna see it pull up with the original brakes and single circuit master cylinder. Bloody awesome looking donk though
  25. Thats gold I wish i knew some cluey blokes like that.
