  1. kinda what i was getting at.
  2. lolz, i like the diamond cut window the rest is shit!
  3. pull the plugs out and try your rollstarting technique sounds like its seized one way or another hydraulic lock if it doesnt work pull the starter off and see if its thrown out and seized. a wack with a hammer wont hurt anyway, maybe try it first :)
  4. spool rods have a seriously good rep. talking to some serious engine builders, BIG race boats etc, they ordered a set to see how they are. said they look the same as any other cheaper rod, but when measured, the tolerances were spot on, much better than any other cheap rod, and as good as any more expensive one. ive got a set coming for my car. can't speak on the pistons. sorry
  5. yes it will spin up faster which will make the car faster, its one of the best bang for buck mods you can do, especially to a small revy motor. it wont make more horsepower, but it will get there faster. yes they do explode, but rarely and only when the people that lighten them are going to the limits and take too much out in the wrong places. ive heard of one apprentice machining one who lost it on the lathe! took heaps of meat out near the bolt holes. idiotic because A. its the highest stress point. B. the most effective weight you remove is from the outmost point, rotating mass etc... C. imagine how thin it has to be losing it on the lathe, imagine if it had gone back into a car! so be careful who does the work. custom flywheels are like, incredibly light and would be pricks to drive, especially with a cam. if it were me, id talk to the shop u want to do it, and see if they think they shoud balance the whole motor as an assembly, i know mine got done that way, but it was all getting machined and balanced anyway, I'm not sure whether its necessary or not. cheers, andrew
  6. yay another gold coaster, hope to see you out sometime mate :(
  7. i emailed him today myself out of curiosity :(
  8. just spoke to teddy, he got his in a roll from the rubber shop, and you just make it to suit :P
  9. i was told to try the rubber shop (07) 3354 2053. about 18 months, dunno if its changed now.... theyre in Enoggera, which is greater brisbane, i don't know your location, so they may be able to post it if your not local.(put your location in your profile please) I never got around to ringing them, for a number of reasons, so don't know if they can help, but its worth a shot. www.scottsoldautorubber.com.au doesnt list one, but it may be worth a ring. if not, harrison early ford and holden up this way do alot of those sorts of things or would know who to put you on to. other option is clark rubber, apparently the carry all sorts of things... happy hunting, tell me where and when u find one :P
  10. ill let you decide :P
  11. but the ke70 has perfect balance already, why would you need to? :P
  12. i agree that once they are lowered the movement is negligible, virtually negating the need for a watts link, hey ben :P but remember how high these things were from factory, i don't think a 3-4" drop would be all the difficult to attain from a factory height, which is why you need the adjustable bar. thats my theory anyway
  13. lol, not many ke70s are driven by grandmas anymore :P wasnt having a go, but its definately not full height, get a set of standard height kings under it and you'll understand
  14. yours looked like its sagged a bit in its years ben....
  15. ok, so i went outside and discovered two things. its oddly cold when wearing stubbies and a shirt out there at the moment. and my panhard, from floor of garage to centre of bolt, was 305 on diff side, and 325 on chassis side. which means, ive been spending too much time under patrols and not corollas, and i can understand why the deflection is minimal. the car is stripped at the moment, but its still sitting just above top of tyres, so i think with a standard weight in it, the panhard would sit pretty well dead flat. which is cool, so time to get my offsets modified and an adjustable panhard to centre my diff :P cheers, andrew
  16. thats the bit that explains sch a small amount of deflection, I'm gonna go get a level and climb under the car, 40 mm is just ridiculously close to flat, I'm sure mines not that close to horizontal, and it is pretty low
  17. a 4" lift in a patrol puts the diff about 25mm out of line, so thats gotta be moved 12.5mm so for a 2" drop it would be around 6mm of movement. on my car, some fool made the wheels different offsets one side to the other to compensate for this. its more than 1 or 2 mm from standard height to wheel tucking, i might run the maths myself and have a play. obviously the greater the angle on the panhard the bigger the effect of moving it up and down, but theres something funky goin on with teddys being on 40mm out of flat or whatever. hrmm cheers, andrew
  18. i like this bloke :yak: I'm amazed this hasnt come down to someone abusing ben and him banning them yet :) keep up the good posting Gspec 8|
  19. i agree with what your saying about bullshit prices even for unrunning, or rusted out non regod cars that arnt worth shit. but if the buyer deems that the money he has saved for the past 17 years of his life should be spent on such hunk of crap, then goodluck to both seller and buyer. sellers don't ask these prices if people arnt paying them. you shouldnt be getting antsy at the sellers, its the moronic buyers you have to be careful of :D
  20. the ones with the pointy diggy in things r good
  21. you really can't measure fuel economy unless you fill the tank til you can see the fuel at the lip of the filler, then run it however far, and refill it all the way to the same point. thats the only accurate way of telling how much fuel is being used per a certain distance. for what its worth with a heavy driving technique i would get 10 or 11 to the hundred, and a nice gentle drive i would get 8 or under litres to the hundred. spark plugs, points, dizzy timing, dizzy cap, leads, rotor button, air filter all need to be in good condition. and a carby kit did make a difference to my economy, but not drastically. cheers, andrew
  22. motsons has their rally escort in one of those, great idea if you ask me
  23. amen, don't publicly talk down prices, coz one day you will the be the one selling
  24. big w sells it too. the sew on and the stick on stuff. what might be worth a try is putting the grippy side on the mat and see if it will just grip to the carpet, save you having to stitch velcro to your carpet... just a thought. cheers, andrew
  25. lol, you had appliances in your carby :D smeg anywho what rpm is this happening at? with a carby car, if your doing 2000rpm and flat foot it,the mixtures are gonna go pig rich and she will bog down. it pays to feed the throttle in as the revs rise, or knock it back a cog if you wanna use all the go pedal...
