  1. i bought a migmate, for 600 from trade tools to do my ke70 about over a yr n a half ago. works a treat. after a while the heat travels back down the wire and makes the tubing for the wire shrink, so you have to replace that every now and then. get a cheap arc and a cheap mig. don't need a mig to do 8mm stuff. :jamie: and if you have access to one of those big refilable bottles that would be good, coz 30 bucks for this small ones u can't refill is a pain!
  2. id go with d/t losses being closer to 30% but who really cares, get the car running the times you want is the only important bit :jamie:
  3. nope wont hurt i did a similar thing with my 1g. but it had to do with the oil pump pulley breaking
  4. its definately vacuum leak, probably on the face of where the carby bolts up seeings as it stops when you put the carb back on but then starts again. make sure its a new gasket and both surfaces are nice and flat check all gaskets subjected to vacuum. where are you located? this one sounds like fun....
  5. agree with raven on this one non-interference alot of toyota motors are non interference...until you stick an 10.5 mm lift cam in :jamie:
  6. lol, stupid blue plate for seats, pfft, i modded corolla seats into a lada niva :jamie: umm not sure what you drive. but in the ke70 the seat rails at the front hook over the centre bar thingo and then have brackets out to the side at the rear. if yours are the same, have you considered chopping the front one and adding extra length, and then chopping and relocating the rear mounts? this is a good idea, might do this with my own tomorrow, (I'm under 6ft and the accord seats in my ke70 don't go back far enough, then again i drive all the way back with stock seats...i feel for you oh lofty one :jamie: ) if you get pics of your rails i may be more help. only issue with this will be less range in the forward movement, but seriously, unless your a 4'8 u don't need to go so far forward !
  7. I'm sure they are a dime a dozen at wreckers....
  8. yes they do live in that vacinity. you could always talk to them. don't think nick has any spare motors, but some people might. if the head was corroded i would expect it to be so in the combustion chamber. i don't think it would be anywhere else. i really think its the HG. maybe you missed some damage to it? :)
  9. get pics, i don't see how u get malt milkshake oil if your h/g was still good.... unless the head was corroded?
  10. just buy a spare cam. i think someone on here is giving one away free at the moment. then take it in and get it ground. don't like it, try again the faq has decent info on a number of the cams listed. have you read it asaspotatos?
  11. don't go cannon. will sound ghey just go nice sports muffler with decent size, but not too long pipe. matt black 4" dumper always looks great
  12. faq
  13. 15 year rule right?
  14. oh dear its a coalition of morons. have you considered fuel system brakes gearbox diff tyres engine management making dash work with engine suspension gearbox of an sr20 will come thru the cross support and you have to box that to get the car engineered now theres a good idea. sort your arse from your elbow and go talk to an engineer
  15. don't use them at the drags, people will get vewwi annoyed I'm assuming ice boxes are no good for track use? only drag?
  16. it is old brake fluid it is it is i promise u!!!! ill come with a screwdriver n clean it all out myself if u like :) coz that same shit was what was built up behind the seal and trapping the pistons in. the brake fluid must oxidise or someshit when it sits around, but that will a good deal of persuasion come out :) not that it needs to, I'm driving my car with calipers similar to that if i remember rightly, makes sweet FA difference to the abilities or strength of the brakes *goes and sits in corner*
  17. theres the pick and remember, there were only filings, no chucks.... new bearings must be feeling a bit worse for wear by now... :) still seem ok tho, lol. anywho, bit of an update, ive changed my engine bay setup around again in the front to mount the radiator better, and to get bigger thermo fans in to stop it overheating, ive got the modified tacho in, but it doesnt work n flickers with the indicators, so ill be taking that back... I'm getting all my intercooler piping redone in stainless and getting rid of the mild steel stuff. its been good tho, coz ive been hacking the mild steel shit up, making it how i want it and taking it in and getting it made in stainless for less than i paid for the mild!!!! get turbo manifold tuesday or wednesday, so hopefully end of the week may see me turning the key n shitting my self once again, maybe after the weekend depending how i go with the oil lines. anywho, thats enough from me but for the minute all is coming along well :)
  18. the one in post 13 suits the car to a T :) :) :)

  21. pull the head off have a look move past go, collect $200 then come back and tell us your findings. it could just be a headgasket, which is a 20 dollar gasket, 45 dollar head skim and a few hrs of your time on the weekend
  22. and of course here there are a few people on here with them parting them out can be quite popular too...
  23. 1ggte, out of a ga70 supra 2 litre, straight six, twin cam 24 valve. was twin turbo, get single manifold this week BIG intercooler only an rb20 turbo at the moment, until i can afford my garrett jobbie... all running on LPG alfa romea 4.3 diff, with 15x8's. 225/50's :)
